Monday Round-up: Lady Rangers, Lady Cyclones And Cyclones Take Wins

Unaka 18, Happy Valley 1
The Lady Rangers jumped out quickly on Monday.

Unaka plated nine runs in the top of the first and pushed the lead to 13-0 in the second.

HV continued to battle but was unable to rally in the contest.

Haley Taylor was 3-for-5 with three RBI, while Jill Faust, Taylor Grindstaff, and Mattie Salyer each added two hits and two RBI.
Katlyn Dugger also added two hits and an RBI, while Keyonna Hague added two RBI and a hit.

K Profitt picked up the win in the pitching circle as she allowed just one earned run on one hit with three strikeouts.

Elizabethton 7, Morristown East 3
The Lady Cyclones responded back in a big way to take a nonconference win on Monday afternoon.

EHS took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but Morristown East took a 3-2 lead in the top of the fifth after plating one run in the third and two more in the fifth.

Elizabethton, however, answered with four runs of their own and added another in the sixth to secure the win.

Mikinna Blackwell had two RBI and a hit, while Lela Byrd and Jozey Reece each added a hit and an RBI.

Mollie Johnson, Emma O’Quinn, and Sadie Williams each added a hit.

In the pitching circle, Byrd allowed no earned runs on four hits with nine strikeouts in just under six innings of work to pick up the win. Lilly McDuffie struck out three out of four batters faced in relief work.

Elizabethton 5, David Crockett 4
The Cyclones held off a late Pioneer rally to take a win at Joe O’Brien Field on Monday evening.

EHS methodically built up a 5-0 lead after five innings of play.

After Crockett was able to plate four runs and get the tying run on base in the bottom of the seventh, EHS was able to hold off the Pioneers for the win.

Logan Campbell and Bryson Rowland had two hits apiece, while Rhett Slagle added two RBI and a hit. Brayden Buckles and Justin Whitehead each added a hit.

Buckles picked up the win as he struck out six batters and allowed four earned runs on nine hits in 6.1 innings of work. Rowland picked up the save – including striking out the final batter.
