Nichols went on to allow only 1 earned run throughout the week, while remaining consistent at the plate. In total, during the week of April 1, she compiled a pitching stat line of 18 innings, 8 hits allowed, 1 earned run allowed, 1 walk allowed and struck out 19 batters.

Meanwhile, at the batter’s box, Nichols went 12 for 25 (average of .480) with 2 doubles, 1 grand slam and 13 RBI’s.

“Charis has been outstanding on the mound this year, helping lead the Wildcats to a 14-6 record,” said CHS head coach Brian Rush.  “This season, her biggest improvement has been at the plate where she is hitting for both average and for power.  Last week she hit her first grand slam of her career.  Charis’s sister currently pitches for Austin Peay, and Charis will pitch for Vol State next year.”
