NEWPORT — Local sports were a hot topic at the Cocke County Board of Education meeting on Thursday. The board voted that as soon as scheduling allows, Cocke County High School (CCHS) and Cosby High School (CHS) will play against each other in every sport except football.

Board member Terry Hurst said he asked for the CCHS-CHS basketball game to be put on the agenda. He explained the basketball game between the two schools was a big success and everyone was excited about the game.
