The Franklin County High School boys soccer team beat the Cascade Champions 6-1 on the road Thursday for the team’s fifth win of the season.
Franklin County scored three goals in each half to steadily pull away and keep the team’s record for the season above .500.
The first goal of the day came about two minutes into the contest as Kevin Hernandez scored off an assist from Alex DeWolfe.
Franklin County added to the early lead about 10 minutes later as Cason Eslick fired a shot into the net to make it a 2-0 game. It was the fourth goal of the season for Eslick.
Hernandez struck for another goal with about 15 minutes remaining in the first half as he forced a turnover and scored off of it to make it a three-score game.
Franklin County led 3-0 at halftime.
The deficit continued to grow in Franklin County’s favor early in the second half as Hernandez scored two goals about 10 minutes into the period to push the lead up to 5-0.
The last Franklin County goal came with about 20 minutes remaining as Hernandez redirected a corner kick from Isreal Mendez into the net with a header for his fifth goal of the day and his 20th of the season.
Franklin County rotated its starters out of the game from there with the Champions scoring a late goal to put the final deficit at five.
With the win, Franklin County improved to 5-3-1 on the season.
The boys soccer team will next play Friday at Chattanooga Christian School. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
