Franklin County's Mollye Casey swings at a pitch in this file photo from earlier in the season. Casey scored a run for the Rebelettes Wednesday in their 11-1 loss at Marshall County High School.
The Franklin County Rebelettes lost to the Marshall County Tigerettes 11-1 on the road Wednesday for their 17th loss of the season.
The Tigerettes scored multiple runs in four of the game’s five innings with the Rebelettes not being able to fully answer back before the contest ended early via the mercy rule.
The Rebelettes put a runner in scoring position in the top of the first as Emma Owens reached base on an error and moved to second following a Kaylee Morris single, but both runners would be stranded when the inning came to a close.
The Tigerettes scored two runs in the first inning, four in the second and two in the third to quickly jump out to an 8-0 lead.
A one-out single from Alyssa Sherrill and a two-out double from Jocilyn DeSmet gave Franklin County two runners in scoring position in the top of the fourth, but a groundout ended the inning before any runs could be scored.
The Rebelettes broke through for their lone run of the day in the top of the fifth as Mollye Casey reached base on an error and came around to score on another error a few pitches later following a groundout from Ava Yates to make it an 8-1 game.
However, a three-run home run from the Tigerettes in the bottom of the fifth produced a pseudo-walk-off finish as the Rebelettes lost by 10.
Kaylee Morris pitched a complete game for the Rebelettes with two strikeouts, nine hits, three walks, six earned runs and five unearned runs allowed.
With the loss, the Rebelettes moved to 6-17 on the season and 2-5 in district play.
They will next play Thursday at home against Marshall County High School. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
