Hunter Stratton (Sullivan East) pitched a perfect inning for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Evan Carter (Elizabethton) homered for the Texas Rangers on Friday night.
Stratton kept the San Francisco Giants off the board in the seventh inning in a game Pittsburgh eventually lost 3-0.
Matt Chapman popped up in the infield, Patrick Bailey flew out to left field where Bryan Reynolds made a sliding catch and Mike Yastrzemski struck out swinging against Stratton, who now has a 3.21 ERA in 13 relief appearances.
Meanwhile, Carter hit his fifth home run of the season for the Rangers as they recorded a 2-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds.
Marcus Semien homered to break an eighth-inning tie.
The Rangers, who led the American League in runs last year en route to winning the World Series, hit .226 in their previous 12 games and scored Friday on two homers. Carter pulled Texas even at 1, leading off the second with a home run to right off starter Graham Ashcraft.
