Hunter Stratton became the second pitcher from Northeast Tennessee in the span of four days to record Major League Baseball career victory No. 1.
The former Sullivan East High School standout got his first big-league win for the Pittsburgh Pirates in their 4-3 triumph over the San Francisco Giants on Saturday night.
Stratton got the final two outs of the ninth inning as he struck out Matt Chapman and retired Patrick Bailey on a liner. The right-hander tossed a perfect inning against the Giants the night before.
Pittsburgh scored three times in the top of the 10th inning and held on for the victory.
Stratton is 1-0 with one save and a 3.07 ERA in a team-high 14 appearances this season.
Landon Knack (Science Hill) got his first MLB win on Wednesday for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
