Lady Pats Fight For Senior Night Win Over Cloudland
Sullivan East’s seven-member senior class led the way to a 5-4 win over Cloudland Wednesday evening.
The outgoing crew combined to collect six of the seven Lady Patriot hits, score four and drive in all five of the five Lady Patriots runs while also contributing to 18 of the 21 putouts on defense.
Senior Olivia Ashbrook went 4-for-4 at the plate with a double, two runs scored and two runs batted in. Senior Madyson Doss singled and drove in two runs with senior Shelbie Leffew coming through with a single and two runs scored.
Senior Shortstop Brooklyn Loudy recorded four putouts and two assists on the evening.
In the circle Raquel Del Prete worked into the seventh, retiring 16 of 17 Lady Highlander hitters in one stretch. Breanna Rutledge came on to record the save, entering with the tying run at third and go-ahead run at second and nobody out.
Rutledge struck out the first batter she faced, issued an intentional walk and saw Madyson Doss snag a line drive at first base and double off the runner to end the game.
Ryan Turbyfill and Saharra McKinney both had two hits and scored a run for Cloudland. Layken Blair and Isabella Christman drove in Lady ‘Lander runs.
