Florida baseball vs No. 3 Tennessee rained out, doubleheader on Friday

Florida baseball's game against Tennessee on Thursday was called due to lightning in the area at Condron Family Ballpark in Gainesville.

The Gators will make up the game in a doubleheader that will start at 3 p.m. on Friday.

It's unclear at this point how the rain out will impact the pitching matchups. Florida was set to start left-handed pitcher Pierce Coppola (0-2, 10:50 ERA) against Tennessee left-handed pitcher Chris Stamos (3-0, 2.89 ERA) on Thursday.

The Gators (23-21, 9-12 SEC) are 156-95 all-time against the Volunteers (37-8, 15-6), including 26-21 under coach Kevin O'Sullivan. Although the last home series against the Vols saw the Gators get swept (L 2-8, L 0-3, L 4-6), Florida still owns a 83-44 record at home against Tennessee and a 12-9 mark under O'Sullivan. The last meeting between the two programs was in 2023, when Florida took two of three in Knoxville (W 6-1, W 9-3, L 2-14).
