The Hampton baseball program will be looking for a new skipper.
Nicholas Perkins has resigned as head coach of the Bulldog program. Perkins informed his team of the move on Thursday evening.

“It has been a high honor and privilege to represent the community of Hampton as head baseball coach,” Perkins said. “It has been a great collaboration between coaches, players, parents, and everyone who cares about Hampton Baseball.”

Perkins took over the Hampton program in 2017 – stepping in after Matthew Hardin resigned after a run to substate.

During his tenure, Hampton won a school-recorded 24 wins in 2022 as well as secured the school’s third substate appearance. Hampton won 14 out of the final 20 in 2021 and was five outs from reaching the Region 1-A tournament before ultimately losing 2-1 to University High.

Hampton was 3-0 in 2020 prior to COVID-19 bringing a halt to spring sports.

This season, the Bulldogs won eight of their final 10 games.

“Myself and my family will always hold this time in our lives dear to our hearts,” Perkins said of the Hampton community. “May God bless you all.”
