The Tennessee baseball team has established itself as one of the nation’s marquee teams under coach Tony Vitello, but one thing eludes the Vols program — a College World Series championship. Never fear because as usual this season, Tennessee’s 2024 College World Series odds look strong and suggest the Vols have a chance to go deep into the postseason once again.
Let’s take a closer look at those odds as No. 1-ranked Tennessee prepares to take on SEC rival Vanderbilt in a three-game series beginning Friday, May 10, in Nashville.

As is usually the case, SEC teams dominate the 2024 College World Series odds as the postseason approaches. The best online sportsbooks have three teams with single-digit odds, led by Texas A&M, Arkansas, and Tennessee in that order.
If you look at the SEC standings, however, it’s Kentucky that is at the top. The Wildcats have CWS championship odds ranging from 18-to-1 to 22-to-1.
Tennessee has reached the College World Series two of the last three seasons. Last year, the Vols won an elimination game against Stanford to snap a six-game losing streak in Omaha. They went 1-2 overall, with both losses coming to eventual national champion LSU.
Speaking of LSU, the Tigers are having an uncharacteristically rough season in conference play. They are 9-15 in the SEC but just swept previous No. 1-ranked Texas A&M in a three-game series in Baton Rouge. LSU has odds of 25-to-1 to repeat as national champions.
Tennessee Rises to No. 1 National Ranking
The Vols have been among the top-ranked teams in the NCAA all season thanks to a 16-game winning streak that led into their first SEC series against Alabama.
Tennessee lost that series to the Crimson Tide on the road but has won all seven SEC series since then, including a three-game sweep of LSU in Knoxville.
The Vols were ranked No. 3 by D1Baseball.com before last weekend’s series against Florida, in which they won two out of three in Gainesville. Meanwhile, No. 1 Texas A&M was swept in Baton Rouge, and No. 2 Arkansas dropped two out of three to Kentucky, which rose from No. 8 to No. 4 in this week’s national rankings.
Tennessee is led this season by junior infielder Christian Moore, who is batting .387 with 21 home runs and 50 RBIs. Junior first baseman Blake Burke is not far behind Moore with a .380 batting average, 15 home runs and 44 RBIs.
The Vols are second in the nation with 127 home runs, trailing only Austin Peay’s 135. The Vols are also No. 3 in runs scored, No. 8 in batting average, and No. 4 in ERA.
Tennessee vs. Vanderbilt Series Odds
Tennessee has seven games left in the regular season, including SEC series against Vanderbilt and South Carolina. The Vols are still in striking distance of the No. 1 overall seed for the SEC Tournament, and they could take a big step in that direction with a sweep of the Commodores.
The series begins with Game 1 at 7 p.m. ET on Friday. The Vols will send southpaw Christ Stamos to the mound to face Vanderbilt’s Bryce Cunningham.
