Chattanooga Lookouts starting pitcher Rhett Lowder was solid in his Double-A debut, but the team fell short, losing 5-4 to the Tennessee Smokies. Lowder the Reds' number two prospect, allowed three runs in five innings, but struck out five and only allowed one walk.

Down 1-0, Miguel Hernandez gave Lowder the early lead, doubling home Justice Thompson and Daniel Vellojin. In the fifth Jordan Nwogu tied the game up for Tennessee with an RBI double. He then scored on a sacrifice fly to give the Smokies the 3-2 lead. Their lead increased in the sixth on another RBI double and sacrifice fly.

Chattanooga's Nick Northcut then hit a two-run homer just above the left-field fence to get within one run. Tenneesee's bullpen then clamped down, only allowing one hit over the last three innings.

Tomorrow, Chattanooga aims to end the series on a high note with Julian Aguiar on the bump. First pitch is at 2:15 p.m.
