Lady Pioneers Batter Greeneville For First State Sectional Berth Since 1992
The David Crockett Lady Pioneers continue to make history.
Monday night in a Region 1-AAA semifinal contest at Greeneville, the Crockett offense rocked three Lady Greene Devil pitchers for 21 hits in a 15-4 victory.
The win sends David Crockett to Wednesday’s championship game at Tennessee High and secures a spot in the sectional round for the first time since 1992.
The contest was tied at 1-1 through two innings, but Crockett put a five spot up and led 9-1 in the middle of the fifth. After Greeneville answered with three runs, the Lady Pioneers came back to score four in the sixth and two more in the seventh.
Seven Lady Pioneers notched at least two hits led by Eva Marler’s 4-for-5 worksheet that included a double, two runs scored and three runs batted in.
Laney Britton, Madelyn Dulaney and Autumn Wynn all drove in three runs apiece. Wynn connected for a pair of homers, a solo blast in the fifth and a two-run shot in the seventh. Britton fished 3-for-4 with Dylaney going 2-for-4 with a double, walk and two runs scored.
Brylee Tullock and Chelsea Williams both doubled and drove in a run. Williams was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and Dugger 2-for-4.
Dulaney also worked the first six innings in the circle for Crockett (26-14).
Greeneville got three hits apiece from Lauren Million, Kaley Garland and Brynlee Jones. Jones drove in two runs, Garland scored two times while Million crossed one and drove home another.
