Lady ‘Blazer Season Ends at Morristown West
MORRISTOWN, Tenn. – Aubrie Messer homered twice and drove in four runs and Briony Bunsic worked a five-hit shutout as Morristown West ended Daniel Boone’s season with a 4-0 victory Monday in the Region 1-AAAA semifinals.
Messer staked West to a 3-0 lead in the first with a three-run homer and added a solo blast in the third.
From there, Bunsic, a Western Carolina commit worked around heavy traffic to eventually strand eight Lady ‘Blazer base runners.
Anna Richardson singled and Sadie Henson Henson doubled to open the second, but Bunsic got a lineout, strike out and fly out to end the threat. Boone left the bases loaded in the fifth and rapped into a double play with two on and one out in the sixth.
Messer finished 3-for-3 for the Lady Trojans. Bunsic struck out seven and walked four in the victory.
Senior Anna Richardson went 3-for-3, picking up three of the five Lady ‘Blazer hits.
Boone sees its streak of three consecutive start tournament end with a final record of 23-13.
