Seven years ago, Jarrett Guarantano and Quinten Dormady were battling it out to win Tennessee football’s starting quarterback position.

The two were on different teams facing off against one another on Sunday afternoon as the San Antonio Brahmas faced off against the Houston Roughnecks in week seven of the United Football League season.

Dormady’s Bramhas defeated Guarantano’s Roughnecks 15-12 on a game winning field goal in the matchup. With the win, San Antonio improved to 5-2 while Houston fell to 1-6. Neither Dormady nor Guarantano performed well in the game and both were replaced in the second half of the sloppy, low scoring game.

Dormady completed 10-of-24 passes for 142 yards and an interception in the win while losing one fumble. Guarantano completed 11-of-18 passes for 121 yards while rushing for 14 yards and fumbling once.

Guarantano has played in just three games this season where he’s completed 30-of-47 passes for 302 yards. Dormady has played in four games this season where he’s completed 68-of-117 passes for 654 yards, three touchdowns and six interceptions.

Back in 2017, Dormady won the starting quarterback position for Tennessee football over Guarantano to start the season. Guarantano replaced Dormady later in the season before becoming Tennessee’s starting quarterback for much of the next three seasons.

After the 2017 season, Dormady transferred to Houston before finishing his college career at Central Michigan. Guarantano transferred to Washington State for his final season of college eligibility where he was the Cougars’ starting quarterback off-and-on.

There’s three weeks remaining in the UFL regular season and while Guarantano’s Roughnecks have little to no chance of making the playoffs, Dormady’s Bramhas are a playoff team.
