SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — Josh Owens, Nathan Eisfelder and Merritt Runnels combined to throw three no-hit innings of relief, recording six strikeouts in Providence Academy’s 6-2 baseball win over Northpoint Christian on Wednesday night.
Drew Niebauer scored a pair of runs out of the leadoff spot for the Knights in game one of the best-of-three state quarterfinal set.
Tine Bowman contributed a pair of singles and an RBI to the winning effort. Grant Gentry singled, scored once and drove in a run as well from the ninth spot in the order.

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — The Knights clinched their spot in the state semifinals and a trip to Spring Fling with a seven-run third inning in game two of the best-of-three.
Catcher Tine Bowman took part in the massive frame with a two-run double. He would later score in the frame as well. The Providence bats only produced four hits, but they drew nine walks and were hit by three pitches.
Starting pitcher Josh Owens got the win after tossing five innings and only allowing two earned runs. Nathan Eisfelder got the save after striking out four in two innings.

Region 1-2A Championship Alcoa 9, Johnson County 0
MOUNTAIN CITY — The Lady Tornadoes got off to a hot start by scoring seven runs in the top of the first, which proved big as this game was called short due to weather.
Adrianna King went 2-for-2 with two runs scored, two RBIs and a double, and leadoff hitter Halle Bailey singled in both of her at-bats.
Mattie Jones (single) and Ivy Lakatos (double) had each of the Lady Longhorns’ two hits in their two team at-bats.
TENNIS
Science Hill def. Farragut
Daniel Haddadin, the Hilltoppers No. 1 player, set the tone early with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Benji Cho. Cooper Weems at No. 5 also rolled with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Lukas Bukowsky. Jackson Temple put Science Hill in position with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Parker Fitzgerald at No. 4 singles.
The Hilltoppers had a setback at No. 3 singles as the Admirals’ Daniel Morgan captured a 6-3, 6-0 win over Newton Raff.
With Science Hill still in control of the overall match, No. 2 singles player Shreeyan Papireddy kept the match from going to doubles with a 6-4, 7-6 (4) win over Farragut’s Leyton Lu.
