D2 is looking golden entering the play-offs. 2 unbeaten teams that have run roughshod all over the best that TN and beyond have to offer. Not to mention the best two teams COULD face off in the finals having not played each other in the reg season. Star power with MUS' Brunetti and EHS' Darkwa. It's the "perfect storm."
And yet, this game will be played in Cookeville, TN...miles away from any interested fans. This game needs to be at Vanderbilt!! Interested D2 folks in the biggest D2 city will turn out to watch this game....IF IT'S ACTUALLY PLAYED IN NASHVILLE ON A SATURDAY!!!! Fans of MBA, BA, FRHS, BGA, will drop in on West End and enjoy a vibrant college campus with lots to do. They will not trek out to Cookeville on a Thursday school/work night.
Again, if D2 is so worthless, then let us stage our own champ game on the same Saturday as the D1 championship in Nashville at VU, after VU's season has ended. We could be looking at record crowds, record interest, and record attendance. But we won't get it this year, and the TSSAA won't care because it's simply not that important to it. The overriding goal should be to set up a championship game that maximizes fan interest and helps the sport. Not squeezes every last nickel into the coffers of the city that makes the "winning bid" whatever that is.
And it already makes me mad anticipating the dopes who will be yakking about how bad the attendance will be for the D2 championship.

I know this is purely conjecture, since the game will never be played, but what about Ensworth or MUS, against Alcoa? The Alcoa seem to think that these are the only two teams that could give them a game from Division II teams this year.

Without a doubt and I have no dog in the hunt here, plus I did play in college for 4 years as well and scout talent for an SEC School. In my opinion, MUS would beat Alcoa by at least 3 to 4 touchdowns. The game would not even be close. MUS has so much more talent and is just better coached that it is not funny. I have not seen Ensworth play this year so I cannot make a call on that game. I would also say that South Panola would beat Alcoa as well pretty easily to be exact. Whoever thinks Alcoa would stay on the field with these teams does not know football or has not seen the teams play.
