I normally do not get involved in such debates, but this one I could not resist. Reddog this comment is so ludicrous. I seriously doubt you were the best single A school at state. (even if you were in AA) Not to disrespect Red Bank, because we were thrilled when they won the AA title, but at the Tennessee Tandem tournament in Chattanooga, Boyd defeated Red Bank (which is a true AA school). Also that day we defeated Soddy Daisy (AAA) and made it to the finals against Ooltewah (AAA). I seriously doubt CPA would have beaten Boyd this year, and we also play by the same multiplier rule at Boyd.
The games were played and every team had it's chance...there is no debate. Good luck next year.

Alot of talk, little action. I am not trying to slam anyone, just stating the fact that they play a higher level of volleyball in east TN. To hear these guys talk the state champion is decided in their district which is silly.
Middle T has some great programs, I have been bragging on Brentwood, Ryan and Page all year. They also produce some great teams every few years like the group that just left from Greenbriar and Independence. But the overall level of play is higher in the east.
East TN doesn't travel to Nashville that often because they get better tournaments in ET. Middle TN volleyball is starting to grow, and that is wonderful for the sport. Keep it up.
Oak Ridge probably won't make it to state next year. We lost all but 1 of our players, and our coach, and we have a HARD road to even get to sectionals. There are alot of GREAT teams you never see because you guys won't travel to play in tournaments and we beat each other up before we get there.
The goal of this site is to promote volleyball. It has been great in east TN for decades. You guys have really only had Brentwood, Page and Ryan. It looks like you are starting to grow. Take the next step and travel and play some better teams.
The maid comment is sad. Celebrate what these young ladies did. Support your teams, don't make fun of the victors. You guys aren't there yet, but you are getting there. Good luck next year to all. DB will be strong again but so will Sullivan South; Morristown West, Karns and Anderson County. There will be another 20 teams hungry to take there shot, and they will travel all over east TN; KY; and AL playing other great teams to get stronger. Redbank; Boyd B will be back, but so will Stone Memorial and Grace Christian. Look for another run by Webb, and you will see teams you guys haven't heard from because they are working in the gym, not surfing the web![]()
Gone till next year. Football playoffs start. Maybe you have heard that Oak Ridge, Farragut, Catholic, CAK, Maryville, Alcoa, Anderson County, Tennessee High, Clinton, Fulton, Austin East and several others are usually ok. We would like to see some of you guys but the last 3 or 4 rounds of the playoffs you guys are usually out and we are playing each other for another state championship.
Then I have to go to the basketball games. Our girls coach just joined the hall-of fame. One of our players Jennifer Azzi went with her. Another named Nikki Caldwell and her 2 national championship rings are coming to town while she coaches UCLA. Another local product, Anderson County alumni Shelly Collier who won another high school state championship last year will be able to watch 2 of her girls play for the lady vols while they go for a ninth national championship. I may try to get over to Fulton and see if they can 3-peat in boys basketball, it is harder to win there region than the state playoffs with Austin East and Alcoa in the way. They usually just pass the trophy around.
I wish we would slow down in the spring but OR and AC track and field are both favored to win another state championship this spring and I want to see some of the athletes. Also, USA Today usually covers soccer because for several years 2 or 3 of our local teams have been ranked nationally. That doesn't leave much time for baseball or softball. So many big games at Farragut; Gibbs; Bearden; Anderson County and OR, yet still I help my husband keep our house clean and we keep all of these state championship trophys dusted. Won't have time to post till next year. Even if you don't want to play our teams, come and watch them play each other. It is like watching the state play-offs each week!!!
