Central-Phenix City High School is well represented in the first NFL Flag High School Girls Showcase in Orlando set for Feb. 2 with the game airing live on ESPN at noon.

Central head coach Mitchell Holt will serve as head coach for the NFC all-star squad and his assistant, Troy Jackson, will serve in that role for the team. Quarterback Gerritt Griggs and defensive back Natalyn Lumpkin will play in the event.

USA Today released the Super 25 flag football rankings in the fall, in cooperation with the NFL, and Central finished as the No. 1 team in the nation. MaxPreps also named the Devils the top team in its poll.

Central won its second straight Alabama High School Athletic Association state championship and finished 19-0. The Devils have won 37 consecutive games.

According to USA Today, the game will headline events leading up to the NFL Pro Bowl at Camping World Stadium. Thirty seniors from those Super 25 teams – or on Super 25 watch lists – were chosen for the game.

Kristen Sherman of Orange (Calif.) Lutheran is the head coach for the AFC team with her assistant, Rod Sherman, taking that role with the NFC squad.

The athletes come from across America, from North Pole, Alaska, to Pembroke Pines, Fla.
