Late in game rally puts Lady Eagles on top over Hamburg

Crossett’s Lady Eagles took on Hamburg’s Lady Lions on the softball diamond on April 17. The Lady Eagles had an early lead, scoring twice in the first inning and once in the second, but in the third inning the Lady Lions rallied to bat in five runners. In the top of the fifth, the Lady Lions picked up another two runs, but Crossett’s bats woke up and four Lady Eagle runners tied the score at 7-all. In the top of the fifth, Hamburg batted in another four, with Crossett countering with one to move the score to 11-8. The sixth inning passed without any scoring, but in the bottom of the seventh the Lady Eagles lit up the scoreboard with four additional runs to pull ahead by one and take the game 12-11. Crossett pitcher Braelyn Campbell claimed the win with six hits, two earned runs and four strikeouts. At bat, Gracie Kilcrease had a home run, and Zoey Jones had three triples during her five times at the plate. (VERSHAL HOGAN/News Observer)
