  1. Past hour
  2. Hate to hear Ricky is heading to the old folk's home!
  3. By recruiting, I mean members of a coaching staff are talking to, meeting with, giving tours, to students, and their guardians, that are not zoned for their school. there’s no way that many non Bearden kids just showed up all at once without being recruited. It can’t be a coincidence that all those kids also went through the middle school all star game your boss puts on every year.
  4. Lee would have been a good choice, also. I'm sure Benny was involved with the decision.
  5. Today
  6. I went to practice yesterday and liked what I saw for the most part. Derek and crew have done a good job during the off-season. I was very impressed with the size of some of those boys on the offensive line. My only regret was one of the boys I was really pulling for to have a good year was dismissed from the team. I have to applaud the coaches for setting examples for the others, no one is bigger than the team. One other thing, I was hoping with that big rain we got this week some of that yellow paint would dissolve but it didn't.
  7. Couple of thoughts: 1. I just don't understand all the intricacies in TSSAA transfer rules anymore. William Blount had a kid that played the final part of the basketball season with them this year, that played at Hardin Valley last year, and played football for Bearden this year. I say that to say, I know the coaches and the AD and the Principal at WB and I will never believe they would do something they knew was wrong. They are men of character. I BELIEVE the same thing about the coaches and administration at Maryville. Call me gullible, but these are men and women of integrity in my experiences with them. 2. Much like the transfer of the Clemmer kid a couple of years ago, with Smith, the football team is getting a huge boost, but the impact on the basketball team will be just as great or maybe even greater. With Smith playing post, it frees the Sigmund kid who will be coming back from injury, to play more with his face to the basket. The Rebels basketball squad in my mind, will be "the program" in East Tennessee next year.
  8. Could not agree more. After this year, McKenzie's new coach will have their work cut out for them. Staying in 1A would definitely be a huge plus. Most years there is not much difference in the top 5- 1A and 2A teams across the state, but after the top 5 or so there is normally a huge drop off for 1A. Regular season region play is a lot easier for 1A in West TN right now.
  9. I agree. A lot more people are starting to see what is really going on around here and how a certain few board members are abusing their power. Eyes are starting to open.
  10. Yesterday
  11. Give the new coaching staff a chance before labeling them Selmer. When is McNairy doing spring ball? Do they have any scrimmages lined up? Good luck to the new Bobcats coaching staff.
  12. Add Columbia Central Girls to jobs that are open. Just saw today.
  13. Agreed. Back in the early glory days of Blackman anyone could have coached those teams to state titles with multiple Division 1 and 2 athletes. Just needed someone to open the door and throw the balls out.

  23. We had a team drop out looking for two more teams for April 6 1 Day JV tournament Call Coach Smith 931-607-9481 [email protected]
  24. This thread has been really quiet this year. I still have not seen any rankings. It seems that Middle and West TN will still be strong. From what I am seeing in some of these threads the East will be weak. Thoughts?
  25. Middlesboro KY, located in southeast KY is looking to fill a vacated slot on our 2024 schedule (October 25th). We are a small 1A school just across the TN border in the Cumberland Gap area.
  26. I’m not saying it in general; I’ve just seen it from past seasons, saying that Tennessee kids always disappoint at NCAAs, and all I was claiming is that it’s not an easy tournament in any division. I don't really care what people think because they don't know everything about me, and if you're an athlete and you do care about those things, you need to fix that lol.
