  2. Tnhoosier i agree with some of your assessment. Though the effort and discipline or lack of, no strategy, numerous substitutions and strategy in end of game situations fall back on the Coach. Parents in the stands last night hit a all time high. This bunch is better than what they are showing, now next year will be tougher on Sanders. First year i can recall the Middle school having a winning season. So maybe that helps High school down the road. I agree Dekalb has suffered in that area. Hopefully things can turnaround this year and we can get a little Confidence. Didn't expect to see a 20 win season, but did expect our boys to put up a better fight. Oh well, time to get back on track Fri.

  5. No doubt, although Oakland leaving points on the field like that goalline stand created a situation like they had at the end of the game needing a stop. In my opinion, you take the points against a stingy defense, especially when you have a even better defense like Oakland did

  6. 100% False. Get Oakland's roster from the TSSAA website and look at Storks highlight film from the game and you'll see that they all played. To insinuate that was poor form on LOD's part and disrespectful to MJ. You will never see Creasy intentionally bench a starter when the game is in doubt. You beat Blackman like a drum, your gonna get Oakland's full attention. That goalline stand in the 2Q was a big moment. Oakland had all the momentum leading up to that. I'm not a fan of Perry, but respect has to be given. MJ was legit

  7. I'm glad this thread isn't about what Devil team, coach or player was the toughest .A whole bunch of us might have an argument on the team but none of us reading this would stand a chance at being the toughest Devil to ever play or coach the Devils. All of the old timers know who hands down would be the man.

  11. We started a big ole 8th grader at guard and he was one of our better linemen by seasons end.Took ole Thunder For a lightning ride in the semis more than once.Got another in 7th grade who will be on varsity next year and they say he is very mature for his age also.Takes a pretty good kid to play line at the level we play at right now. It does sound by the topic that mommy or daddy have a kid coming up,pretty randim topic!

  12. Perry was as successful against Oakland for one reason. Oakland was resting some key players for their second game against Maryville and hopefully at the time the Haven. Who ever Gallatin gets I truly wish them good luck and would really like to see them a powerhouse again, which they COULD be. One suggestion. Get yourself a GREAT STRENGTH Coach as well as a HC. Next schedule the entire teams PE period the last of the day and get them into the weight room for it. Then after the weight period either PRACTICE during the allowed times by the T$$AA or devote a couple hours for 'conditioning' as in running and exercising together as a way to really get to know each other.

  13. Prayers for Coach Ramos! He did a great job at Collins Hill. Nashville is seeing rapid growth and some are saying that if it continues at this pace it will reach where Atlanta is (2018) now in 10 or 15 years but who knows. What Nashville needs is a new mayor, new school board and a new director of schools. Metro Nashville Public Schools is a total disaster that must be fixed immediately but no one wants to address and fix the multiple problems.

  15. Perry County is a sleeper team. Don’t think they can take down the Eagles. Watching there Junior Varsity games from last year and the varsity, the team has a bright future. Their point guard and shooting guard on the Jv team have tremendous promise. This year or 2019 is there time to shine.

  16. this is comical man. MJ would 100% not beat BA or MUS or mccallie and probably MBA (who you chose not to rank). just bc they played oakland close doesnt mean they would be 2 in state lol. heck greeneville would probably beat them

  17. Both teams had the wind at their back for half the game. This thread is full of "what if's" and "I would have's", but we all have the luxury of knowing the outcome of every play we're picking apart. Both teams played excellent football, both made a few mistakes, and both were good enough to win... one mistake by Cornersville cost them one point, and that decided the game. I don't know of many plays the Cornersville Coach would like to do over in order to change his call, and I'd bet that there have been very few games across the state this entire season with fewer. Despite the disparity in yardage gained, these were two very evenly matched teams who played a very close game until the final whistle. People are fond of saying that there are no such thing as moral victories. I disagree with that in principal, but in this case their right... the Bulldogs came out of the shadows last season, demolished most opponents for two years running, and came up a single point short...no moral victory. Having said that, this group has changed Cornersville football from homecoming queen, into a program to be feared by all of 1A/2A. I'm sure that Cornersville has always supported their team, but I'm just as sure that now that support has grown, that the Bulldog program will continue to see that in the stands (and boosters), and to reap the rewards in facilities. To the Bulldog players... You will forever be the team that put your school, community, and football program on the map. You will forever be the bunch of young men who set the standard, inspired the younger kids, motivated your entire town, and gained the highest level of respect from the entire state. I have never been to a Cornersville football game, but I was sick for you players and your fans that you didn't hold that gold ball... before you feel that you have let yourselves or the community down, you need to understand the enormous gift that you have given your fans. You have filled their Friday nights with positive emotions... they have cheered, laughed, yelled, high fived, and lived your victories with you, and you have brought them together as one. They are heartbroken right now, but here's the part that you players don't understand. They are not heartbroken for themselves. Until you one day sit in the stands alongside your fans and families, and feel the pride in watching your little brother, cousin, son, grandson, neighbor, or someone that you don't even know wearing your school colors with the same pride that you have, you won't understand that the pain felt now is for the young men that have given so much to them and asked nothing in return. They know the level of effort, desire, brotherhood, and pride that you all have played with because they have felt it, and the cost that comes with that when you lose, because they have felt that, not so much for themselves, but for you. Keep your heads up boys...you are the true hometown hero's.
