  1. While we enjoy all things football, I have a special prayer request that I would ask you football gurus to pray for. Coach Ryan's mother has gone in for emergency surgery this afternoon. Please remember her and the hospital staff in prayer. The bond between a mother and son is like no other, but this one is extra close. They are best of friends. Thank you, I know the family and Coach Ryan will appreciate it!

  2. Kevin38 I have always respected you as a poster. You have always seemed knowledgeable and a good guy. But with all due respect, if I choose to respond to someone about zoning I will. You said “we”. You do not speak for everyone on these boards.

  12. In my years of knowing Springfield football we have only had 1 transfer player in the last 10 years and that was a QB from California in 2014.... Springfield isn't a hot spot for players to transfer to so they can get big offers and play college football lol this just isn't that. In the last 20 years we have only had 4 D1 football players! This is a program build on past players son's and brothers coming up and reaching there dream of playing Springfield football. Everyone on this Jackets team including coaches and support staff (Excluding maybe 3 coaches out of 20) are Robertson County born and raised. This is a small town football team that is build off tradition and family's. I promise you can keep us out of the zoning talk, if wasn't for rezoning and some of our players we should have being sent to our rival up the road and a 1A school outside of town we would be LOADED. Lets talk this state game! Both programs deserve that!

  15. Congrats to Kemari McGowan from MTCS on being named Mr. Football for DII-A. USJ never played them so I didn't get to see him play in person. However, he had very good stats. After watching most of the Mr. Football presentations for all classifications; I think Davis was really hurt by not having the defensive numbers. Most of the winners went both ways.

  16. The main thing is speed, we didn't have it in a lot of places we usually do in 2019, there are good players coming back, questions are, can Jacob Adams be replaced, big loss there, Gibbons should be sound at QB, but who are the backups, we had some questions there last fall, glad Gibbons was not hurt. We need a good tight end and another wideout, and definitely more speed in the secondary. The lines should be pretty good, a few guys to replace there. Kicking game will be wide open for someone to step up and punt and do kickoffs, field goals and extra points. The schedule will again be tough, but at least DB and Powell will be home games, along with Mt Juliet. West looks like the toughest road game, with a trip to Farragut, coming off a down year as well. The main thing is to get off to a fast start at Hardin Valley, OR stumbled badly in that game, getting off to a slow start for the season.

  17. I think a lot of people are shocked that Central got back to the state after they lost as many players as they did to graduation. All we heard about all season was how strong Region 3-5A was and how no one in East TN could play with them. Sorta the way it's been for 4 years now. I'm not doubting the region's strength, they had some very good teams this year. But just because a team plays in a supposed weaker region, it doesn't mean that team isn't as good as the better teams in another region. I think what continues to get Central to this level each year is the coaching staff. Each year they weren't supposed to be as good as the previous year and each year they've been better than any one could expect. The kids love to play for Rosser and his staff and it shows.

  21. Yes it has been interesting seeing the opinions of everyone these last couple of weeks. Some had very strong opinions and it was funny seeing how far off they were. But I give credit to Milan administrators for thinking outside the box and going away from the familiar. You would be amazed at how much interest there was from local coaches. But Milan went with a guy that few know of. But he is a professing Christian and makes no bones about. He is quick to tell you it’s all about the kids. And to take a program from 1 and 2 win seasons to 12 and 13 wins speaks volumes. And winning that many games in north Mississippi ain’t easy to do considering the competition. Very excited.

  25. No sir didn't mean for it to sound like that if it did. Just throw it up to him. Let him high point the ball. He will come down with it. Btw jerod means from TN just entered the transfer portal. Go ahead and throw Willis the PWO offer and let him earn the scholly. Needing all the WRs we can get with the graduating class and now transfer portal.

  27. Dang you gone disrespect our schedule like that? Alcoa does has some Nice sized kids. We know that. That's how they whoop up on most teams
    1 point
  28. I agree 100%. There should not be any transfer restrictions at all. Let the kids move to the schools that are going to give them the best opportunity to excel in their sport and give them the best chance possible to continue their sport in college if they do choose.

  30. They do have speed and a lot of size but I’m not sure about their game planning. Covington actually outgained them 334-175 with 23 first downs to 10 and were the much smaller team on the field. I feel like if they would have utilized their passing attack more that they would had more yardage as they could’ve beaten the Covington secondary with long passes. I believe they only attempted a couple and completed one for a monster gain that turned into a TD. They did enough to win and that’s what matters but it won’t be enough against Alcoa if they underutilize their strength.

  31. Yes, as other have said EHs is more balanced this year than previous teams imo. We have a lot more size than we have had in the past. We got some big WRs that can snag those jump balls and our CBs outsize the opposing WRs making passing a tough job. If I had to say we had a weakness I'd say it would be run D. However with recent success there really aren't any glaring weaknesses. Some times we can get into our own heads and commit some penalties that could be avoided and a couple points this year the kicking game has been inconsistent. Offensively we have many weapons than can hurt you on the ground or through the air. No one is here by mistake and Springfield is definitely going to come in motivated with a chip on their shoulder. I'm expecting a fast paced game between two very talented teams. I can't make a good prediction because we have blown out reams we were supposed to play tight and played tight against teams we should have blown out. Game day can't get here soon enough.

  34. Yup. But, I'm think that the earlier Alcoa-Maryville game is showing to be two of the best teams in the state this year and, I think for the next couple years to come!

  42. This whole argument comes off as pathetic and is embarrassing to the Forrest program. If you teach your kids to push blame on others for your misfortune, you set them up for failure all through out the rest of their life. A better lesson to learn would be, to be gracious in defeat and celebrate your successes... not dwell on disappointments.
