This is a big reason that Maryville wins. Powerful stuff right there when Derek Hunt tells his players that he loves them and the players tell him they love him. I am so glad Derek is Maryville's coach.3 points

The success has proven wrong so many of the preseason naysayers! Football is alive and well in Tennessee!!2 points

The whole blm movement was created by progressives to transform the country from a constitutional republic to a social democratic one where critical race theory can be advanced. They want us to feel bad for wanting a safe comfortable life so they want to do away with private property and put low income housing in the suburbs. They want a different police force under their control to do their bidding. Its all a push for power and to undermine our current system. Not one black person killed by the police were killed because they were black but the media has these groups convinced that they were.2 points

HC comes out Friday with something to prove. I wouldn't want to be Clarksville high. Running clock is a good bet. With Jv getting their feet wet with plenty of play time.1 point

I wish Ravenwood hadn't found IMG Academy a few weeks ago. PC and Ravenwood could have played on the 25th. That would have been a much more accurate barometer for both teams.1 point

I am not sure why Tullahoma is having to travel either. From what I am understanding, Beech is sending Tullahoma 200 tickets and Tullahoma is keeping that money. Beech is also giving Tullahoma a percentage of the gate as well.1 point

Yes sir! I think the "Contact Tracing" the socialist government bodies have implemented is responsible for more missed games than anyone actually having the virus. These idiots have a 14 day mandatory quarantine as if we we're in a small pox pandemic in 1847! IF they had an ounce of common sense, they'd revise that mandate to state 2 negative tests in a 96 hour window would bypass a 14 day quarantee... But hey, what do I know??1 point

I like your thread title "Football is STILL ALIVE in week 5". There were prominent nay-sayers before the season opened who thought that it could not happen because of the pandemic. You had big school systems in Nashville and Memphis refusing to allow kids to play. Thankfully, Metro Nashville has now relented, from what I hear. Aside from an isolated school here or there, high schools are apparently playing successfully with no big Covid-19 outbreaks. Our TSSAA schools could show the PAC 12 and the Big 10 a thing or two.1 point

There will be no fall sports in Metro middle schools. Winter sports will go on as of now. 7-8 grades are scheduled to return to their buildings the day after the election. HHHHMMMMMM.1 point

barney I was in Ningbo china a couple of days ago. went out looking for an authentic Chinese food place like" Panda Express ". looked everywhere . Finally settled for a quaint little restaurant that doubled as a pet store. I wasn't worried about covid at all. I was concerned about rabies !!!!1 point

I don't mind swapping the Red Bank game for the Jasper game. But now that we have that week open, who's to say Jasper will even wanna play? PP68 has already brought up a good point in that Jasper will have to go into that game with no practice for 2 weeks. The way things go between the 2 schools, someone is always gonna be left holding the bag so to speak and blamed for events completely out of their control.1 point

A 15 year old getting his first start in one of the biggest games in the state! Most would struggle in that situation. I think he did great. I remember Jalen Meyers getting the start as QB in the state Championship game. He struggled. The next year he was the Championship game MVP. I see #11 doing the samething. Getting better every snap!1 point

I feel like HVA is just under the surface of being able to generate something but can’t quite seem to get up and running. Don’t get me wrong, I think DB wins the game and probably by a significant margin but HVA is a capable team when they pull together and come to play. Knock them off their game and get in their heads and they will circle the drain quickly with mistakes, tempers and mental errors but when they come to play, they can be a force. I think DB handles them but it would be a mistake to underestimate them. Usually every year they beat someone they weren’t supposed to do well against.1 point

Suck up! Lol naw I'm just kidding. Damron is a great YOUNG QB. That's what we have on our side right now, a lot of really good young players. Brentwood is just that good. I think we will be ok in 5A but if we play teams that like to pass a lot I will be a little nervous about that now....1 point

Win or lose we will get better playing Red Bank and Meigs than playing Jasper do let's move on and get ready for what's next1 point

We were able to broadcast the MHS vs Harriman game. Monterey has only 3 starting seniors and is a very young team. They have a huge junior and sophomore class and we all know that most of the time a young team is on an emotional roller coaster. They had an overall good game against Harriman but there were times where their youth came to the surface. If they mature like we at Monterey hope they do, both Clay & Gordy will be good games. We'll have to see what happens throughout the rest of the year.1 point

My only concern when Derek was hired that others around him would take advantage of the situation that had a helping hand in him getting the job. We've all watched him grow up as a kid until the point he is at today. I for one will tell anyone I watched him mature last year as a coach so much that I can personally say we've done well by picking him. My personal turning point was last year when we scrimaged Catholic which wasn't pretty and the very next week we run over to Oak Ridge with a 61-6 clobbering of the Wildcats. I think the people of OR couldn't wait for us to leave they were so shocked. Then the next week we unload on Central which was cut short by a thunderstorm in the second half but the message was clearly sent. i watched the GP and AE game on TV last year and was so happy we picked the right Derek after watching that. I'm so glad nothing has changed on how we do things which is another great reason I'm excited with who we have. Since I've been involved with MHS Football I've seen a few friends that were coaching at one time or the other that were close friends that are no longer coaching or moved on. One was John Olive who has moved on To Tullahoma. John was very well liked and his father was very popular in the community and I still feel the pain that all was forgotten when he just couldn't keep the team on the same level as in previous years. Seeing that was what scared me in the beginning for Derek because he was a very young man when he took that job. I'm just so glad he has done well with the program and the future looks bright.1 point

I feel like the Defense last year and this year raised their game up to another Level when they played Alcoa ... Especially last year . Maryville's defense this year has looked good from day 1 but with Lou Burchfield getting healthy and Burks and Greyrider Jr coming on this Defense can carry this Team till some of our Younger Playmakers get more confidence ... which I think they will with the Toughness of Parker Mcgill and now Carson Jones as an example ! I think the Line got really fired up when Carson steamrolled the defender and they kept playing better and better . Fortenberry was a surprise to me punting , it's great to have someone who can flip the field like that !1 point

Our Defensive Coaches might not be to Nix’s level but Maryvilles D did hold Alcoa to 12 points the last two years.1 point

Should be interesting. Beech will run, run, run. Tullahoma will throw it around. The fact that Beech went to Powell week one will be a huge benefit in this one. I can’t imagine Tullahoma will throw it any better than Powell. I will wait until I have seen a little more film before I make a prediction, but I like Beech’s chances.1 point

Totally Agree ... It's not slamming our Players to say that either . We have a much younger team than Alcoa at key spots ... I think our team because of their youth everywhere has an extreme high side this year . Rankin going for it at that time was reckless as Heck . His Defense had played outstanding , he had a 9-0 lead , they had just stopped us again 3 and out with us losing 8 yds in those 3 plays . Their Punter was having a great night and Maryville would have had to drive the entire Field to score . Rankin gets a lot of credit , deservedly so , but with that should come the blame when you don't perform at the high level you expect your players to live up to . Derek out coached Rankin last night , and Derek and the Maryville Staff and all the players that executed should be given their props . What's funny about Rankin is he seems to do things in the Maryville game that he doesn't do the rest of the year .1 point

Spencer Briggs and those seniors that Watson was blessed with ain’t walking through that door. I guess Watson didn’t do as good of a job recruiting which is more of what he is known for than his X’s and O’s anyway. Time will tell. BIG MONEY BUDDY1 point
