Quarantine the kid/kids that test positive and let them play. Covid is less severe that the flu in school age children (From multiple sources). We all have the same risk of catching it at the gas station, grocery store,restaurants etc. What are we supposed to do hide in our houses scared to death until the "Media" tells us its ok to come out

You fellers remember when they’s dropped Boyd, more recently dropped Whitwell during their recent glory, now dropping teams to play weaker teams to pad the win column. Old Pirate knowd when the longest continuous rival in the state of Tennessee suddenly stopped, it would be Jasper throwing in the towel. That’s the way they roll. Been done with NFL about 4 years now. I've gone 100% Into supporting my local high school, Jv, middle school and wish I had years ago. Its way more rewarding ..tired of millionaires telling me how oppressed they are and how racist and white privileged I am. My white privilege gets me up at 4am and if I'm lucky enough and it hasn't rained I get to mow grass to help make ends meet.

Agree, Let them play. Isolate sick kids, not entire teams.

I suggest the TSSAA change their policy regarding COVID come playoff time. They decided to play football this fall rather than postponing it till spring, and now they are seeing teams drop like flies. If they want ANY sort of money from the playoffs and championship game, then the only choice would be to lift the mandatory COVID restrictions. I know some is left up to the school system, but cmon, we all know most school systems are following the TSSAA’s recommendations. Actually they need to lift them before week 9. If an undefeated team gets it week 9 they will lose the first round game via COVID and be out. Thoughts everyone?

The most recent excuse is that it's too dangerous to play the game with only three days of practice...... Didn't they move the Sequatchie game to Thursday because of weather? With only three days of practice?

You can't just lift all restrictions and leave the decision up to the individual school/system. TSSAA's mission statement declares that they lead the member schools, and that they will attempt to be "fair" to all. You'd have one team quarantining symptoms and another playing kids at any cost (already rumored to have happened in our area). What they should do is use a more common sense approach... kids now quarantine for "contact" for 14 days, even after a negative test and week long wait for the results. Contact is deemed within six feet for 10 minutes, yet you can be two feet for 9 minutes, walk ten feet away, then immediately back to two feet with no restriction... stupid! I know that there has to be a defining line and not a gray area for the purpose of "rules", but TSSAA should scrap the CDC and WHO mumbo jumbo for something simpler to track and more constant.

A Quarantine is for sick people. When healthy people are masked, handcuffed and forced to stay indoors, that's called tyranny.

I hope the best for them but it took over a month just to get to where most everybody else was back at the first of August. By the time they do start playing there'll only be about a month left to go in the regular season.

This has to be the headliner for 3A football in Tennessee this week. Based on those rankings it's apparent that it should be on TV. However, since it probably isn't, you can view the game by going to Facebook and there will be Live Stream coverage on the Covington Gridiron page.

Totally agree. I think people with bad health this is bad, but for most it's like a small bug and then goes away. If a player plays with a stomach virus, alot will get it and alot want. This cancellation stuff is stupid. They might as well shut down like they tried to shut down our country. BTW, I worked everyday and went to Florida for vacation with my family around 1000's of people when they said it was such a HOT Zone!! Yea Right!!!! I know I would be okay with my son playing if he were still in school. But, I'm like you, Lift IT!!!

Tyner Academy didn't have to reschedule their game against Jasper. Tyner could have taken the forfeit win. Tyner and Coach Turner are stand up people in my book. Why does Jasper think everything should fall their way? How would they feel if Tyner took the cheap forfeit?

Last thing I will say about this and I think somebody already said it, but if I was Jasper I would rather play than break contract and owe a chunk of money to SP.

Update: A meeting scheduled this morning between SP’s coach and principal along with Jasper coach and principal at Dr Mark Griffith’s office has been canceled. Jasper has not agreed to this offer: Play on Saturday which would give jasper the same number of days to prepare as normal. Usually teams practice Monday-Wednesday and then have a walk-thru on Thursday. Pirate’s coach said he’d move it to Saturday so that would give them the full 3 days plus have Saturday morning for their walk through. Instead Jasper is literally trying to find a game against anybody other than SP that week and the coaches at other schools are laughing at them.....because it’s obvious to those coaches they have contacted, that they are too scared to play SP. Right now it appears the game won’t happen. Based on their coach’s actions I would say the rivalry is likely dead. We should NOT go up there next year and let them collect a huge gate. The only way we should play them again would be if they agreed to a two year deal where they come here both years. IF not.....We should schedule NJ and start that rivalry. Sad. The series ends this way but I would never play them again so long as Pruitt is there.

Great win by Marvyille. Defense kept them close until the offense came around. As far as coaches would not trade any of ours for anyone. So proud and blessed to have the coaching staff we have. The last two years we have come out and pitched a shutout in the second half while scoring twice. Looks like the halftime adustments advantage is clear there. I don't blame Rankin for going for it, although I might of just done it and not tried to draw them offsides and then call a timeout. I think Maryville is in his head a bit but that is understandable. What is he like 3-12 all time? They were probably all excited after Coach Quarles left, man that has to be a disappointment.

Bearden's stadium has to be one of the steepest places to go to. The last time I went there I saw at least 2 different people fall down the steps and get hurt.

He is 110% NOT involved in anything remotely decision based. The metro schools have to try to reschedule their region games if at all possible if they want a chance to make the playoffs. Some regions have more teams than others. PC/East are one team shorter this year due to Republic dropping football, but Hillsboro still has to try to get theirs in. More important in the big picture than a bragging rights game with PC.

The success has proven wrong so many of the preseason naysayers! Football is alive and well in Tennessee!!

From the little ive seen and read about West...they seem to still be working some things out due to lack of spring practice, scrimmages, etc but are still crushing teams on their schedule. If the qb cuts down on the int's and continues to get the timing down with these stud wrs than they have the potential to have a special season. Mattress has been doing his thing but its this backup Barfield I hear that can be very special as well. I haven't even heard Hundleys name yet and if he gets going watch out. The defense lost some key starters from last season but seem to still be solid year in and year out with the guys they have in this year. Two shutouts is awesome regardless of who ur playing. If West wins this week against Oak Ridge and beats Powell then they have a great chance to go undefeated in the regular season for the first time in school history...there's no one else on that schedule that can compete with West if they are rolling and not hurting themselves with stupid penalties and turnovers. Just an opinion from an alum.
