  1. Super proud of the panthers. They’re a gritty young bunch who defied all expectations ( except their own.)They were picked to finish 6th in the district preseason- and were regular season champs, district tourney runner- up, region champs, and final four in the state. Best of luck to the remaining teams. Hope to see us back at the glass house again this time next year.

  2. Agree stone will be back. The freshman has been impressive all year. He didnt shoot well today like he normally does but still looked good against the greeneville athletes. Their point guard has really stepped up his game since we played them earlier in season. Good team and I know they are proud

  3. This was the first time I'd seen Stone in action. The Capps kid is only a freshman. Very impressive. One stat that stands out: Stone Memorial scored 24 points from inside the paint. Stone will be back next year. Count on it.

  7. Varsity won 3 scores to 0. Moved the ball up and down the field. Scores came via passes from Damron to Jayce Kendall. I think all 3, but I may be wrong. Lexington never sniffed the end zone on the first team.. scored once on a long pass against the 2nd/3rd team. Pretty good showing to end spring practice.

  8. I agree. Even the great Nick Saban says things are different now. Kids make mistakes. Sounds like the coach might have gained some respect by letting him go and they all came together even the guy they let go and he was let back on the team. JMO. Lots of kids and even adults find out that life will and can go on without them and sometimes they realize that they weren’t bigger than a program or a company.

  9. Yes number 3 i believe is a jr and will be back next yr. Early in the year when york played them twice the capps kid ( freshman) was scoring bulk of points. A parent told me he started drawing double teams and the other guard has stepped up. Well coached team with bright future. I believe greenville should win it all. The gillespie kid is amazing

  15. Wow! I knew DB had it in them if they could just put it all together. I was happy with beating Coffee Co. and getting to the final four. I guess they might as well go ahead and play for the championship while their down there.

  23. I have stopped underestimating the Milan team. Tyner appeared to have superior talent, but Milan had them so rattled, they did know how to react. Only had 19 points total going into the 4th quarter. Wow, defense can humble a good team. Milan is not great against a press, so East Nashville would be wise to press them. Win or lose, the Milan team is something special, in some ways a throwback to early times, when it was more of a half court game. East Nashville should be favored, but again, Milan defies the odds.

  27. I go to a lot of Peabody Football games and one of the basketball players quit before the Lake County playoff football game because he wanted to go play basketball. Heard a fight broke out on the basketball floor a little while later with that player and a football player. I also went to a game early in the year and the players and coaches were arguing loud then. I also heard the player that quit a couple of weeks ago was at the substate game. Never know about his situation. There have been other situations besides him I know.

  28. As far as GC’s backups and Jr. High coming in, if they get in the gym early and often and work on their game outside of regular practices I think they can be good players. They have a group of players and will be interesting who makes it out of the pack. They will have to for GC to be in the mix. They need to hit the ground running and put in extra time for them to be good. Hitting weights and conditioning and extra drills to try and replicate which they won’t be able to but will help replicate something their bodies are not used to and that is the grind of a GC HS basketball season. Coaches can only do so much.

  30. Most of the time all the slow down tactic gets you is a closer score but not a win. And if the opposing coach knows it's coming he can adjust and the slow down doesn't work as well. I think what wins it for DB is to shoot in the high 60% range, which they are capable of doing. But we're all just talking, nobody knows how the game will go until the clock starts.

  32. That's the game that first came to mind too. He will run his motion offense until there is an open look and something his High School coach Bill Duncan did at Greeneville when he played for him against teams that were more athletic.
