  2. Braelyn was pretty much on it tonight. She finished with 34. 5 of 9 from three. 4 of 5 for two and 11-11 free throws. She had no turnovers, 2 rebounds, 4 assists, and one steal. Lamb also had a good game with 24 points and 10 rebounds. She looked very strong tonight against a very good team.

  3. In the last 30 years there have been a number of players on the top teams in the Upper Cumberland region that have averaged 20-25 ppg. Could they have averaged 30 a game? In some cases i believe there have been a handful that could of IF it had been important to the coach. Great coaches respect the game! What message are you sending when it's 84-36 and your best player is still in the game with 6 minutes to go in the 4th? Does the score of the game matter or is it the players point total? What can a coach be thinking ? If your best player is in the game when you are leading by 25 or more then the leader of the team has an agenda. Humility and sportsmanship should be a given. Show some class! Respect the game and your opponent.

  4. First: Grainger is a very good, young team. They gave South Greene a game tonight. I would not be surprised to see these two teams play again in the tournament. Second: SG's Braelyn Wykle played very well. Coming back from knee surgery she looked a bit tentative—which is understandable. That was five weeks ago. Tonight, with SG trailing early, she went three for three on three pointers and got the team back into the game. Unofficially, Wykle put up 32 points. When Wykle is back in the groove, SG will go far.

  5. CBHS really needed McCallie to beat Baylor.. CBHS matches up great with Baylor and if they make the finals they will be the champions.. The problem they have is they don’t match up very with with McCallie, so now they have to find a way to get past McCallie first. Since River Henry is out for McCallie, the CBHS Match will be a very tight match with McCallie winning it by 3 points.. But, If CBHS beats McCallie I think they beat Baylor by more than 15 in the finals.. if McCalllie meets Baylor in the finals as I think they will, then I’m guessing McCallie doesn’t try to bump their whole team this time and It’s ends up being a 3 point match with Baylor coming out on top again.. As for the ¾ match most would assume that the winner of FR v MBA would automatically make it to ¾ and finish 4th. But my prediction is that MBA beats FR in the first round but then gets upset by a very strong Knox Grace team in conso semis. And Knox Grace loses to CBHS in ¾ match..

  12. And this thread right hear just reaffirms my beliefs that in a generation or two interschoolastic sports will be on life support or dead. Because of know-it-all jackwagon fans who think they everything and couldn't keep their mouths shut for a $20 bill. There won't be enough officials who think putting up with fans' crap is worth leaving work early and missing out time with their family. Have fun calling the games yourself folks.

  13. I've been officiating for 7 season now. I'll give my observations. There is an official shortage. It hasn't hit as hard in TN (especially East TN) as it has Alot of places, but it's coming. Part of it is more are retiring than starting. And those few who are starting, even fewer are sticking with it. I could write an entire essay covering the reasons for this, but I'll have the main reason right here. Even since I started, it's been a trend across the board that: A. Players are continually more disrespectful than ever, year after year. B. Coaches are less knowledgeable about the game and the rules of the game and increasingly belligerent. C. Parents/fans are completely out of control. When I was in school 15ish years ago, you always had a couple old folks or an angry dad that hollered at and heckled officials, but there were only a handful. Coaches rarely ever raised their voices at officials. Sure they tried to work an official, but as a whole they were professional and respectful. And players NEVER talked backed or argued with officials. And on the off chance they did, they were yanked from the game by the coach. Officials in this day in age have an increasingly hostile work environment, and it gets worse every year. That is why you can't get anyone new to get in officiating and actually stick with it. It's always the officials fault. If your kid loses, you tell them "it's OK, it's not your fault, the refs sucked." Doesn't have anything to do with the team shooting 21% from the floor or the fact that Junior was 3 of 10 from the free throw line. It's the refs' fault. The fans now a days are in general uninformed and entitled. They think they know the rules, but in reality a large percentage of them don't even have a clue. They think cause they paid $5 for the ticket, they can do whatever they want. Well try this. Go to the grocery store, and watch the bag boy. When he makes what you perceive as a mistake while bagging, yell at the top of your lungs "You're an idiot! Better keep your day job! and see what happens. You will certainly be asked to leave at least, and possibly even have the law called on you for disorderly conduct. Fans pay for that ticket and think they can leave cultural norms of how to conduct themselves like a civilized human being at the door. The reason fans are seeing a decline in the quality of officiating is because there are fewer quality officials, and the ones you have are the ones you have. And the reason there are fewer quality officials is due in large part to the fans. There's no way around that fact.
