  3. We will be live this Thursday at 6:00 PM Central Time! Lee Teat and I (Mike Molder) will be talking playoff football this week! We will cover classes 1A, 2A and 3A from 6-6:45. I'll have a Mt. Juliet Head Coach Trey Perry join me at 6:45 and Maplewood Head Coach Arcentae Broome join me at 7:00. We'll then jump back in to playoff discussion at 7:15 discussing classes 4A, 5A, and 6A. 5. Agreed 1,000% It's poor to have a girls STATE CHAMPIONSHIP game in any sport on a football Friday night. Whether intended or not, it really sends the wrong message about girls athletics. Going forward, the hope is to • (1) have a day break between the semifinal and final like Division I has, and • (2) have the final not be on a football Friday night. There is enough time to have four finals in the stadium on a single day as the last final on Saturday is at 4:30, leaving enough time for a fourth match at 7:00. For the fifth final, one of the five classes would play their final on one of the other 16 fields at the same complex on a rotating basis. DII-A would be more than willing to be the first in the five year rotation to play on the auxiliary field.

  6. Of course not the greatest team ever created in 1A but if both teams get there LC will be ready to play.

  8. Oak Ridge messed up not starting 14 vs Powell and see how he could do.I still think we blew a great chance to practice and get better.Because tonight I seen the same things hurt O.R. that has all yr.Herbert just cannot pass enuff to win big games. The defense has struggled to get to the qb and I was very shocked the coaches didn't try to blitz more.Malone who looks 25 by the way was so good when he had time.It was amzing how bad he looked with a little bit of pressure. The diff in these teams was Fulton has got better every week and Oak Ridge has looked the same or worse the last 3 plus games. The play calling on offense was not good again for Oak Ridge.Too many plays that take forever to develop.Im just real disappointed in the offense and have been for 5 yrs.Offense has kept us from Cookeville and too many good skill guys to let that happen.Who knows but I think if 14 starts all yr and Booker plays a little RB/WR/Wildcat QB and gets more rest for D I think we are on another level right now.O well lets see if we can fix some things and win a playoff game.

  10. Well no kidding genius.... I stated that in my last post.... We scored more points than they did....

  11. Wow. Oak Ridge looks even more dangerous with 14 at QB. Get 13 on the field at the same time and that offense looks SCARY.

  15. I agree unless there is lightning expected which doesn’t typically happen at these temps why can’t they play in rain anymore? Teams never used to do this. It’s raining anyway or at least it is in Greenback. Has been for a while now.

  16. After about a million post about crazy stuff having nothing to do with football.I certainly look forward to a third round matchup with Greeneville and a great opponent.I talked to an old teammate of coach Witten last night that I work with and hope it's Betsy . I have always like them and they will be the team most years going forward that has the best chance to put us out in the east if things don't change again. We are loaded this year and I hope we can bring back the gold but I'd much rather see a future Betsy team do the same when we are not a championship contender as watch a team from other regions take it all.Shoot, when the playoffs start, I'm for all the locals not playing the Devils.

  17. Yes, he's like his mother, thank The Lord for that! He's an excellent student. I honestly don't know how he keeps up with all of it playing three sports, but he does. I'm sure someday, he'll look back at things and wonder....what if I had gone to______________? I did. But, then I always look at the blessings (my family I don't deserve) I have now that I would not have had, if I had gone ahead and played, instead of going to the good school for an education. Then again, I didn't have all of the unique options he does. My prayer has always been through this process that he follows where he feels The Lord is leading him AND that his mother and I will have a peace about it. I can't know that he's done that for sure, but I know he sure went against conventional wisdom, so I am pretty sure he is listening to the right voice. I'll hopefully get that peace I'm looking for sooner than later. His momma is just happy he's going to be close to home a little longer.

  18. He is around but wont be coaching. Family issues. Will be on the market next year. Not sure if he is returning to Whitwell or not. Another good week of practice. Just need to keep getting better for the rematch.

  20. Depends on how much the coach motivates them and how little they forget when it comes to the little things like NOT lining up off sides. Right now they are NOT the consistent team of old. More like Dr. Jeckel and Mr. Hyde. Game can go from VERY close to a blow out in just a couple of plays. Right now I am saying flip a coin.

  22. Yes, but if you took that $1.50 and made a wager with Pat that McCallie would beat Red Bank, then he would most certainly be buying you 2 sodas early in the 3rd quarter.

  30. Spot on. Any coach worth his salt is getting their info from film. They may hear that a player or players are injured but they will prepare like they are playing anyway. The opinions from fans and some old has beens probably doesn't mean much to coaches. If that was the case they would just let the experts in the bleachers run the show.

  31. Not going to make a pick, could go either way imho. Can't really go by common opponents. OS hung in with Greenback 28-18, Midway didn't fair so well 49-8. Midway lost to CF 22-13, OS lost 22-16. OS beat Harriman 20-14, Midway beat them 41-18. I haven't seen both play, not sure of each team's overall strengths but I'm sure each team's coach's will try to put in the best game plan attack. Good luck to both and hopefully no injuries in what should be a close/tough contest.

  39. To me it comes down to a few things why I don't think Greeneville could give Alcoa a game. First look at 4A this year and last. Show me 1 team in the current top 10 in the polls other than Greeneville who has even played for a state title much less won it in the last 10 years? None of those teams ( 2-10 ) have done that. In all the other classes there are multiple teams who have been there and done that. Secondly and most importantly when Gville had real competition in 4A ( Catholic and Fulton ) they lost to them all the time in the playoffs. 2012 Fulton 42 Gville 14 2013 Fulton 40 Gville 20 2014 Gville lost to South who lost to Fulton 49 to 14 2015 Catholic 35 Gville 21 2016 Central 16 Gville 14 2017 Gville lost to Fulton in a scrimmage but won 4A 2018 Gville lost to Fulton 13 to 7 in a scrimmage but will win 4A probably. Do you look at this six year history and think this would happen to Alcoa?

  40. How can a player have 2 yellow cards without being thrown out?

  41. Peabody is the favorite right now because they are playing the best ball. I think a sleeper team might be Riverside. They are having a lil bit of a better year than last year and could be a sleeper come playoff time. Waverly is also playing well too. There are many great teams in 2A so in my eyes it is a toss up, but if I had to pick a winner it would be Peabody.
