I can see pros and cons of both staying the night prior and coming up the morning of. However, it’s interesting that Cornersville is approx. 140 mi from Cookeville & Whitwell is about 75 mi from Cookeville and it’s the Dawgs coming in the morning. There’s something to say about sleeping in your own bed (and not in a hotel with 35 teenage buddies). Anyway, safe travels to both. P.S. - Tha tigers looks pretty big and fast on film. I was impressed with what I saw. However, I saw the CornDogs live & in color on Paul’s Turf and they are the best defensive team I’ve ever witnessed in 1A football. They play assignment football. Quick to the ball and FIZ-UH-KOOL. I expect a great, great game.

Like I said in my earlier post, the Haven always plays a full 48 minute game with never a second of 'give up'. You forget that and they WILL beat you.

Early season injuries and inconsistencies. We just got healthy in the playoffs. Those losses were against 2 of the best teams in the state and a top 25 team in the nation. They helped us grow tremendously as a team and learn to overcome adversity.

We played 3 teams with 0 Ls going into the playoffs. We honestly should have beat Lausanne from where I was sitting. I heard N. Little Rock had the refs throwing flags on our band whenever we got within 1 score of them. Germantown was a perfect storm of injuries to key players and disciplinary action taken against the student-athletes that forgot they were STUDENTS, first.

Huntingdon also wanted us in there fancy Paul Ward Stadium, you see where that got us

I have always thought the measurables were way overrated as well, the young man deserves more opportunities based off of what he has done on the field, having said that, West Point and playing football for ARMY is a great and honorable opportunity in itself!

Waverly has a lot to be proud of. I think last year's team was better offensively but this year the D stepped up as well, especially in the playoffs.

That was the most honest and amazing post I have heard in quite sometime. We have a number of kids who would do such a thing. 58 is Osirus Wilson and he is a gentle giant. We are honored to have such a young man on our team. Thank you so much for your support.. And yes it was hard for me to watch your team lose. They deserved a shot at the Gold also. Too bad someone had to lose. Good luck in the future. You guys will be back because you all have a quality program.

I was impressed with the athleticism and speed from Maplewood. Definitely some talent on the team. I’m sure these two teams will meet up again sometime down road in the years to come. Maybe this time Maplewood will get to travel to beautiful Greeneville TN? Congrats to Maplewood on a great football season.

Yes a lot of good linemen but I’m still gonna single him out for what he’s done for the past 3 years. As Cherokee23 pointed out I said two way. He’s been a starter 3 years going both ways and never missed a start from my memory with a silver & gold and should of could of got another one. Leading tackler to boot. They don’t get enough recognition, but I learned being a QB’s mom a long time ago you can’t do anything without those guys “showing out” on the front line.

From watching film basically almost every player with a single digit number for Oakland is a baller. 4,5,6,7,8,9 all look good. Should definitely be some hard hitting. Our oline is gonna have to really bring it. Ravenwood was getting alot of penetration on us until we went to that 2 back set. Sneed and our young back #28 gonna have to get the run game going to so coach can open up the play book. TE should have a big game if we feed him cause they know the bomb to Mullins is coming and coming often if they even think about covering him one on one. Gonna be a good chess match. If coach D adapts to their D and makes the adjustments with the play calling like he did second half last week and we protect the ball gold ball #3 coming back to the 901. I’m almost glad the game is Thursday so it can hurry up and get here!

I'm taking it exactly how you said it BHS. You tell us to drive 7 hrs to play a Shelby Co team when Logistically it would make more since if we played a team out of Charlotte (better competition, less travel expense, and our fans would travel better). I knew it was a dig the whole time because BIG BAD Memphis teams are so Scary . (Outside of a Hand full of Shelby County teams Shelby County Football isn't all that Good) We played a team that was in a 4a state championship game so either hang with Shelby Co all the time or don't. (Us Greeneville fans don't buy into well they were playing up BS because Greeneville always played up until 2009 and decided to play were the TSSAA put us). We do step out of NE Tennessee and travel to NC,VA, and KY because it makes logistical sense because of were we are located. I haven't taken one low blow or cheap shot at Haywood Co. (I actually picked them or Springfield to make it out of the West in the pre-season because I had seen film on them and have said all year they are a top 5 team in 4a if you want to look back at my posts). It will be a good game on Thursday but as a fan and former coach I see Greeneville be more Multidimensional for Haywood when it comes to overall game plan and being there before.

I'd like to see these Corner'sburg fellows play Whi-Wuhl at The Graveyard in Whi-wuhl this year. They would start believing in the super natural.

I don't think Whitwell will wear down like some may think. Greenback ran 67 plays or so against them and the Red Tiger held up fine. The game against us was somewhere in the 50+ plays against them.

This could be the lamest attempt to fire up a team from one of their own people that I’ve ever seen. Good grief.. at least make it believable. LMBO

Apparently nobody any good as a head coach and only old rebooted assistants and a few coachter’s want this position. We will never be any good and the entire town is stir crazy living in the 80’s. There are no athletes here and the QB Club consists of some grandmoms and two cats. One of those cats only has three legs too.

The Tiger's tougher competition through out the year will be the difference in this one. Cornersville bring's home the silver again like last year. Whitwell is just in another class, and so many of us have been trying to tell so many people on here that this year. I say Whitwell by 14. Congrats to both team's but the actual 1a championship IMO was played this last Friday when Whitwell took down mighty Greenback. Whitwell high School. 2018 1A state champions!!!!!

A few casual observations: devilman03 is in dire need of a wife or significant other. Doesn’t seem that his ignorant prattle is indicative of most of the Greeneville fan base though. This will likely be the toughest matchup for both teams all season. Haywood has played 4 of the best teams in the state regardless of classification (MUS, Briarcrest, Henry County and Dyersburg) and won’t be half as shell shocked as most people are expecting. Greeneville’s schedule seems incredibly weak, but I’m sure someone from out East can explain to me how I’m wrong. Haywood has plenty of depth, size and athleticism, as well as a running game that will be superior to anything Greeneville has seen so far this season. One thing I’m certain Haywood is going struggle with against Greeneville is defending the pass. Haywood hasn’t faced an offense that’s nearly as multidimensional as the Devils and, while I hope I’m wrong, I ultimately think that will be the difference in the game. Best of luck to both teams, I’m hoping for a slobber knocker
