  1. I have debated a lot about whether or not to post about this call. I just watched it again and I cannot believe how bad it is. This level of officiating is unacceptable. Even if it would have been a first year ref I still would have trouble believing that due to the situation he blew his whistle at all and if you are going to call a foul how you could think that was a charge. I would simply like to ask him what he saw to make him call a charge. Also, if you continue watching till the end, on the last play the SG player was knocked to the floor and nothing was called. Why call one and not the other. I wish there was some kind of accountability.

  2. Here is a deal of reality. The soccer team will never have any success as Derrick did leading his football teams. He didn’t let a cult of parents influence his program in any situation. Parents who attempt to coach from the sidelines in their lawn chair and yelling at their daughters is very sorry to me. You see this same sort of eventual failure in the youth programs because of parent cults.

  3. Here you go people. A guy that truly doesn’t get it. Head coaches across the country miss things with their family and friends to pour into the young men on their team. That’s what makes them so special and unique. If I recall, all these soccer event took place right at the end of football season, while Coach Davis probably was preparing his team for district games and a playoff game. That doesn’t make him “sorry”. A sorry man is one that hides behind a keyboard and bashes a man’s character on a day that the rest of the community is celebrating the end of his era with their program. “Losers assemble in small groups and complain about others”. So you and your group keep “dealing in reality” (LOL) while the rest of the community sits around and laughs and waits to see what idiotic thing you complain about next.

  4. Great Post! Anyone close to the program or someone from the outside know this is only the truth. Let's follow ole Chuck posts during this process. It will be interesting........NOT! I am not sure of any of the reported soccer issues not the exact problems with the Head Office Administration. I do know Derrick Davis.......Loved his alma-mater, coached his kids hard, got more out of them then they will ever know, well respected among his peers and absolutely one of the classy coaches around. You do not have to win state championships to be a great coach. Did he make a mistake or two along the way, probably so. Passionate leaders sometimes do but most often adapt and change to the new standard. I think he was past the issue with the soccer team. Administration might have been another story. I agree with Rusty Brewer being a good fit as replacement. Polk needs a Polk guy.

  5. I was lucky to be at Polk Co. From 2009-2013 coaching baseball... those were great years to be a part of Wildcat athletics! All sports we’re rocking and rolling and the community support was awesome! I wish Derrick nothing but the best in his future endeavors!

  6. Not funny anymore Roy. Coach Davis will be sorely missed and it is a shame he was put in a situation where he chose to resign rather than have to continue to deal with upper admin. meddling.

  7. Brewer will do a fantastic job there. I think he has been the head coach in waiting for a long time.

  8. Look for them to hire the current offensive coordinator, Rusty Brewer. I don’t think the school system is in financial condition to go after another head coach.

  9. If you think soccer had anything to do with this, you’re as misinformed as I thought. I’m sure you would like to think it did, but once again you’re wrong. Nothing other than the administration in central office is the reason he left. Go back to the soccer threads with the other 8 people that care about that sport. Be careful what you wish for. I was here the last time a Davis left this program. That didn’t end well.

  11. Hailey Hardaway for Bolivar is a player that needs more recognition. Even though Bolivar isn't very good this player is scoring 20 to 40 points for them.

  12. I was there... that particular ref was bad the entire game. Usually, a ref knows he's made some bad calls, and makes those adjustments at halftime..... this ref just called bad calls through the whole game.

  13. I’m pretty certain Beech is attending the Father Ryan tournament. I’m not sure why track has them listed under both tournaments.

  15. Hate to see him go was a great coach was a freshman his first year and after I graduated I started running the chains for him. Like I said great coach and even better friend. I have the out most respect for Derrick he is definitely going to be missed. Polk is heading in a rough patch I fear.

  16. Roy will be happy. He never could get Coach Davis to shave his mustache for Roys precious Murphy Fair book.

  17. Doesn't matter what happened at Concord Christian, Troy is a darned good football coach. That is a very small private school that tried to start a program from scratch with Troy, and it's a program that didn't have financial aid available. Troy had no control over who came to the school. Troy is on the staff at the new Lakeway Christian in Morristown, who start playing next year. Former Furman University head coach Bruce Fowler is the head coach at Lakeway.

  18. The added "AD money" is the only thing keeping some good coaches in position.

  19. The New Word at William Blount yesterday was Office. The Coach needs to get Office Butt or two of his key players might be wearing orange and black uniforms next year.
