  1. YOU people can’t let it go…Derrick is living rent free in your heads. Would you like to talk about a couple parents dancing on the P at midfield while lining off the football field laughing because they had achieved their goal of using the field, but you all claim to support all athletics. No one is talking bad about the girls everyone is proud of their accomplishments and it was a great season. As for the small group of parents being an embarrassment that is 100% correct. I find it repulsive to see grown men and women screaming and yelling at opposing teams’ kids and in some instances making fun of their physical appearance and athletic performance on the field. I was there to see this happen numerous times and parents yelling at the opposing student body and fans who were there to support their team just like ours is nothing to be proud of yet some of these men would give each other high fives and laugh. I saw firsthand when an opposing player tried to kick a rolling ball and missed these same dads laughed and made fun of her. Charlie Murphy was thrown out of a game along with a member of the central office staff who was mentioned earlier in another post, and it was sickening! Our very own Charlie Murphy then asks the principal (game administrator) if he can go down to the field and have his say to the officials since he was being removed. I believe it was during this same game where these same parents were heckling a girl on the other team and Polk’s coach who was standing outside the fence with her two small children had to turn to some of the fans and tell them to not get personal. These are a small number of our fans, but it makes ALL of Polk athletics and fans look terrible. What narcissistic dad would go raise money for the soccer team that his daughter plays on then demand that his family’s hotel room be paid for out of these donations? Wonder if all the people that contributed would have done so if they knew some of their money was being spent on this guy’s hotel room. I won’t mention names, it was actually two different parents, but this is TRUE it happened sadly enough!! PCPeasant, let’s clear up a false claim in your first ever post which gave me a headache trying to read. Last year’s soccer team had a great year, and everyone is very proud of them but they are not the most successful team since '83. In 1986 Polk baseball went to the final four and got beat by Unicoi County on a 7th inning home run at Cleveland State. Did they get a banner? I also don’t remember seeing one parent rush the field to celebrate making it to the final four they waited on Coach Dixon to meet with players and then congratulate the kids when they came out from the dugout and left the field. In 2011 no parents rushed the field when baseball went to the state. I’m shocked that your referring to these girls as peasants and they were treated as second class citizens. This is a lie that you and others are trying to get people to believe. Even though these girls played on the practice field it was better than what football and baseball played on for many years. The football field was redone after the 1986 season and baseball played at the show barn and eventually in the early 90’s moved to the middle school field both of which is terrible. Rocks were everywhere, and the outfield had clumps of grass that players turned their ankles on and we can’t forget the Kudzu in right field where balls would get lost if it wasn’t mowed. Also, little league football used this field to practice and the fair was held there every year. You say we should celebrate all sports success if so then why are some of these parents so happy to see football fail and make no mistake losing Coach Davis is not a win for our sports program or community and neither is hiring unqualified coaches to coach sports they don’t know anything about. Your bright candle looks more like a torch and Coach Davis was tied to the stake. He is gone now, and this small group of parents are still making up usernames on football forums to keep fanning the flames their torch lit!! The only way we can be successful is to stand together for the future of all Polk athletics and demand that coaches are hired based on achievement and knowledge of the game they are coaching. Congratulation to the 2018 PCHS girls soccer team and coaches you are all winners in my book!

  2. So just so I can understand because I'm new to this. But Summit beats Brentwood 48 to 30, and Brentwood is ranked 11. Now Centennial who has already beaten Oakland, ranked 12, AND beat Summit 54-19 isnt ranked. I mean I'm not a sports analyst but I am a software developer and thats not really how logic works... Just curious who votes for the rankings or how they are made. *Just weird, I have a relative that wrestled D2 and then a younger brother that wrestled in this region. The D2 team is ranked in the top 5 beat summit in a closer match. Makes you wonder if people just brand name teams rather than put statistical thought into polls.

  3. Bullseye! I'd like to add (because Title IX has been thrown like a grenade) that if the practice field can be lined off to meet the "standard dimensions" of TSSAA soccer fields, and the football field can't for whatever reason, they could be forced to use the practice field using Title IX against them (hint, hint). You hometowners need to follow BPM's advice and support the kids... all football programs in this area are funded by a collusion of sources, and boosters work alongside coaches for the betterment of facilities. I doubt that it would be readily accepted for another program to enjoy the fruits of football's labor without reciprocating upkeep at any school, and rightly so. You Title Nine'rs have a case, but it's not with football, it's with the central office. Edit... For the "taxpayers fund all sports..." comment. Sports are not a requirement. Title IX ensures EQUAL opportunity for both sexes, nothing more or less, and the public portion (taxes) of financial support is determined solely by administration. If any soccer booster feels entitled to the use of another program's designated facility "just because it's there", you're wrong on every level.

  5. Everything boothman said is spot on. I went to one soccer game this year and was so embarrassed by the actions of these parents it was uncomfortable. I will not be back in attendance to any more games. I have played sports in a lot of environments and that was one of if not the most embarrassed for a group I have been in my life. Watching parents run up and down a sideline screaming and yelling nonsense at a state tournament game nonetheless was unbelievable behavior for grown adults. When the game ends and PC wins most of these same parents rush the field to celebrate. Was it the state championship? Of course not, it was the first round. It was such a look at me move by these parents the kids were not able to celebrate with their teammates and coaches which actually won the game because they were having to maneuver around parents. Again unbelievable actions, especially after a first round game. Luckily I didn't make it in time for the district tournament game when multiple of these parents were kicked out of the game because as you know you have to be seen as a parent. It goes back to demanding free rooms just the look at me and reward me for doing my job. Since when is doing something you are responsible for supposed to be rewarded like it was something out of the ordinary. I also ask the question how much money has been raised to help get the soccer field built by these parents? What would be their demand if they raised money for that, box seats at the games? I was around for the baseball field being built I witnessed first hand the amount of fundraising, time, blood, sweat, and personal money spent to build a field. I was there helping the entire time it was being built. If you want the field bad enough you can get it done and you can do it right, just look back at how nice the baseball field was from the time it was built until 2013. Enough about soccer. The athletic department as a whole is in such a bad place at PC its saddening. Coaches are backed into corners into doing things they do not want to do but for a job they have to do. I want to preface the rest of this paragraph by saying I appreciate the coaches that are there because it takes a lot to be in the positions they are in. How does a baseball program that had 5 consecutive region births with 2 region championships and a state tournament bid go to being a program that will not hire a baseball guy that wanted the job? I know someone that tried to get the job and teach in the classroom starting in 2014 but could not find a position for him, now he has been a 5 teacher multiple years in row and teaching AP Biology with a district championship under his belt at another school but couldn't find a spot for them there. There are coaches at the middle school level that never played a sport and now a middle school football program starting that had yet to ask DD for input to help the transition into high school before his resignation. I could go on forever about DD and what he meant to me and so many others before and after me but most everyone already knows what he is about. With that said thank you DD for everything you did for that program and community. The problem starts from the top and until something is fixed at the Central Office the community will suffer. PC is a place of Pride and should be treated as such, where coaches want to be and kids want to play hopefully one day it will return to what is should be.

  6. Lol kids just want to go there just like they want to go to Pearl , Maplewood, Hillsboro and East . They just want to attend these schools as well. Blackman RB didn't move but he was recruited by Blackman coach to come there ... And renting an apartment in Murfreesboro for the time being isn't ethical . If it was vice versa of who the coaches were all heck would break loose

  7. Don't like agreeing with someone who doesn't know much about wrestling, but you're 100 % correct. Wether the fairweather fans wants to admit it or not, Cleveland has been about money for a while. Bout the only thing he is right on is how lazy our pride coaches and such has become about going out getting and keeping our talent. Jones pays for 90 or more percent on every single trip they take out of town. Pays for everything. Got or gets Bradley a bus? I remember 2 years ago when we won state, we followed them fellers back to Bradley in a old yeller beat down smoking school bus... Jones donates to Bradley and county schools, but it's not even a hair compared to what Cleveland and HC gets. Without Jones, their would be not even a half what you see at Cleveland right now. Until Pride can come up with something to get the top notch kids back and staying, HC will always be the go to place for Cleveland and whoever else can pull them away. It's really mind boggling that Cleveland fans really think their success is only based on that school with no other kind of help.

  8. Not about money? Lol ok... That man pays for every little trip they go on. If Cleveland needs it, they get it. Heck he even bought the most expensive, but not so good streaming for Cleveland. Every bit of money that goes into HC is due to Jones. Pride has one of the best coaches to ever coach the game, Steve Logston. One of the hardest workers in wrestling history. Jones contributes to Bradley, yeah but its mostly "Bradley County schools". Not just Bradley Central. Stuff like glasses for the eclispe lol. I'm not using no escape whatsoever.. Just stating facts. The whole dang county knows the issues. You said it best like me. Higher Calling gets kids from all around. Best kids around. Luckily they don't all go to Cleveland. A lot of that has to do with Jones. Wether you want to open both eyes or not. You know it as well as everyone in the County, if it wasn't for Jones, Cleveland would always be our little step brother. I never cry over the sport like any other Bear fan. We know who the best is and will always be out of this county. It just takes a little bit of help to beat us. Have a great night and see yall Tuesday.

  9. Tess Darby of Greenfield had 32 in a big win against Trenton. Edie Darby added 15 and showed she is back. Greenfield's Chloe Moore added 15 as well. Greenfield is coming together as a team.

  10. It ain't more of the middle schools than it is "Pride" and "Higher Calling ". If I'm not mistaken, Lake Forrest, "Bradley's " middle school feeder was on of the best in Tn last year. Very very good kids. Have a few right now at Bradley, good, but young and raw. But time after time, any Bradley or Cleveland person will tell you, in order for us to bounce back and beat Cleveland, we're gonna have to compete with Allen Jones and Higher Calling. Top ranked kids from all over comes to Higher Calling and they make their way to Cleveland. Bradley will and can compete next year with Cleveland, just not this year. Don't like spreading much rumors so won't talk on the deal, but i have heard that Allen Jones has actually asked to help Bradley or Pride in a few ways, but someone turned him down. Like i said, just rumors and don't know if true, but there's your answer. In order to close the gap we're gonna have to be Cleveland and do what they do. Everyone knew after TJ, Knox Fuller and company left, it was all over for us. Even heard some of the best Pride kids even went on to HigherCalling and else where.

  11. If he asked the whole staff to reapply, that doesn’t sound real promising for the current staff. I believe big changes are coming in BDP land. Sometimes it’s better to start all over in certain areas. It’ll be interesting to see how much the admin gives him as far as teaching spots to fill coaching needs.

  12. Man I thought u were in the know around here on sports in Bradley County. Ur crazy if u don’t realize that Jones gives money to Bradley. Just recently Ben was in the papers thanking him on contributions, it’s just not advertised as much. But here’s the game changer, do u want to know why Cleveland is on top and better than Bradley right now?...,,,,, it’s because of a guy named Josh Bosken. Not sure if you’ve ever heard of him but he’s the reason HCWC and Cleveland wrestling is where it’s at. That man puts in so much time with those kids and hardly ever takes a day off. He’s always somewhere with his kids every weekend all over the country trying to get better and nobody out works him. The kids love him and love learning from him. If all the kids that’s been through HCWC actually went to Cleveland, they would never lose lol. Y’all Bradley folk always want to bring up money and it cracks me up. Cleveland has emphasized work at the youth, middle and high school with traveling and getting better. Money don’t mean s$@&t if you ain’t putting in the work. And if I recall y’all have 3 of our kids as starters on the high school team Devany, Sebastion, and Skyler. None your prides kids have left and came to Cleveland so y’all have halls own kids. Until Bradley gets somebody at the youth level that is willing out work Bosken and put in the time like him, Bradley will always be behind Cleveland. What y’all need to start doing is stop crying and using money as a scape goat instead of looking at the real issue.
