  1. Yes but a tier list has to be relative to schedule and then head to head has to be applied or evidence from relative matches. It's like there's a pool of teams where they just randomly throw them around in different spots as opposed to using a statistical approach.

  2. I think the main part is that the coaches aren't putting any actually statistical or analytical thought into it. Regardless of line ups, etc. It should be clear that after the first couple in the list it no longer makes sense. As teams are ahead of teams that have been beaten head on. Multiple cases of it. Clearly not everyone is going to be happy, nor does it matter that much since it doesn't affect who the actual better team is. But why make a poll with flawed logic and placement decisions. It's different comparing college football considering how many teams, leagues, and schedules there are. Most of the "better" teams have already gone against eachother or have given evidence to what SHOULD happen if they meet.

  3. In my opinion, this shows how little the administration supports football. Coaches from other schools should be "encouraged" to move on. To get Antioch back on it's feet in terms of being competitive you have to have teaching spots for potential coaches. That is one of the reasons why metro football continues to be a circus.

  4. I wished they would allow the girls to wrestle boys through the season to get some mat time and once state comes around have them split. We just dont have enough girl teams in the state at this time to have them have their own tournaments every weekend and so some get like 8-10 matches a year and then state. Even if they were sent to JV tournaments every weekend that would at least be mat time for them to grow and get better with competition.

  5. Here are my top 9 for state of TN wrestling teams. Baylor-1st tier Christian Brothers-1st tier Cleveland-1st tier Father Ryan- 2nd McCallie- 2nd Wilson Central - 3rd Blackman jumbled mess, lost to wilson central but finished higher at Black Horse compared to Arlington since OW likes to use individual tourneys Arlington- beaten badly by McCallie, Christian Brothers and Baylor, as well as lost to Father Ryan. beat Bradley Bradley- lost to Cleveland, Arlington and McCallie but beat Summit 64-9 Honorable mentions: A Jumbled mess of nothingness. The reason these are so hard: Blackman- beat Beech Centennial and Summit, lost to WC Centennial: Beat Summit and Oakland, but later lost to Oakland and Blackman Summit: lost to McCallie, Bradley, Oakland, Blackman and Centennial. Beat Whitwell by same margin as Soddy. Rossview- lost to MBA and Clarksville and also Beech and Wilson Central, did beat Oakland though Heritage beat Science Hill but lost to Notre Dame Brentwood- beat MBA who Rossview lost too, but lost to Summit. Beech- lost to blackman, oakland and Riverdale

  6. Yea believe me I get that. But math is some powerful stuff and I feel like I'm obligated now to show everyone how to add and divide properly.

  7. Sounds like a good idea, I hope there's plenty of contribution.

  8. I understand exactly what are saying I really do, but nobody is gonna be happy with rankings no matter the sport. You will be arguing this next year, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, etc. UCF didn’t lose a game for almost 3 years and people laughted at them. It’s part of it

  9. Your statement makes no sense to me. And you will never understand because your team is ranked (and deservedly so) but if your team was one of those who is slighted then you might take your head out of the hole its in and try to look around and see why. I don't have a problem with the rankings themselves, I think rankings are good. But the way they are done now is equivalent to someone doing an NFL ranking and year after year and always adding Pittsburgh, Green Bay, Carolina, and Dallas because those are the teams that "should" be winning--they have the most fans. Where as, maybe one should do some research and list Kansas City and LA. They don't have the coolest uniforms and the most fans and neither team will earn a legacy ranking but they deserve the recognition. All it takes is a little bit of effort. Track makes it very very easy now. Don't want to put forth the effort, then bow out of being in the poll group and add someone that cares enough to do some research.

  10. I understand boys not wanting to wrestle the girls, I wrestled 3 of them during my 4 years in school. I just wanted to get some match time in and truthfully cared less most of the time who was against me and that's how it should be now(especially JV wrestling). Girls should wrestle exhibition matches against the boys(especially to get mat time for JV boys) and allow them to get more matches compared to the small amount they get now days. I mean i looked at the regions last year there were 32 teams in the East with 84 girls total and West had 35 teams with 88 girls total. Its hard to get matches for them and not have to wrestle the same girls over and over if something else isn't done and the growth will be minimal if they continue having to wrestle the same people over and over again and it also hurts their growth in becoming a better wrestler.

  11. That's not realistic. You know they're not going to stop doing it--so instead of your sound bites, lets get some changes going and make it valid.

  12. Crockett County. Westview isn't Westview this year for some reason.

  13. Its called Legacy ranking and it's become painfully obvious that the coaches voting in the poll either dont have time or (definitely don't mean the Bradley coaches here :-)) are too lazy to take the time to study teams to make an informed vote, so they pick the "branded" teams. When the initial poll came out with Soddy ranked I think most who read this board began to consider the Coaches Poll no longer valid. Hopefully Arty can revamp his good old boy network of pollsters and create something valid next year.

  14. Have you contacted coaches in other parts of the state to see what they are doing? Maybe you can get together and do a couple events during the season. Maybe you call them something like super regional tournaments. Nice team trophies and medals for the girls. Make sure every girl gets her 5 matches in regardless whether she's winning or losing. Maybe you talk the coaches with big rosters into hosting. Mandatory your jv boys who aren't competing to work tables. Be creative. Figure it out.

  15. The girls are piggybacking on the boys tournaments today. By the time you have daughters maybe it will grow enough so that they have their own events. The AAU is busy trying different things to try and get more girls interested. People are working on it. The main thing is be patient and keep working.

  16. I am an official and you were told wrong. If the ball is deflected by a defensive player then the offense can be the first to touch it in the backcourt. If a player that has not made it across catches the ball in the air and then lands in the frontcourt, it is a backcourt violation. The player is considered to be still in the backcourt until his/her feet establish in the frontcourt.
