  3. Not a Bearden fan but I watched the game. I think you have to give Coach Eldridge a lot of credit for his game plan , plus Joe Anderson played an outstanding game and the supporting cast contributed. Tactically, Maryville played box and one on Ques Glover and Bearden did not attack it well, IMO. The rematch at Bearden on February 5, plus their inevitable game(s) in the post season will be very interesting. I have no idea how the upcoming game(s) will unfold but IMO, if Bearden is even close to full strength, keeps their cool, plays their game, and refrains from all the extracurricular talking, taunting, etc. they honestly should win.

  4. I'll let a Bearden fan answer that. It was an ugly game. A few T's a fan tossed. Bearden is battle tested and the tall guy is back. He was out at the first meeting.

  5. I think they are 18-1. Their only loss was to Baylor

  8. Wayne Co gave Summertown all they could handle in the Barn before falling by 2 in OT. It may be a 3 team race for the top spot!

  10. Did not make an excuse sir, stated a fact. They played horrible, that's pretty transparent without any bias. I am being critical of the team you are implying I follow and support. Actually, I broadcast their games and called the game with Obion Co. As I stated earlier, they went 2/19 on 3 pointers and stood around a lot that night. Give Obion credit for a good game plan as well. I will agree with you that Reagan is not Deja and Zanasha is not Tasia. They are good players but those two seniors that graduated were special. This years team has struggled at times finding their identity without those two to pick them up like the last four years. Crockett is going to be tough and if they win Friday night will be the favorite in the district. Have known Kayla Irvin since she was a youngster in Gleason and she is a rising star in the coaching ranks.

  11. This is the first of two great games coming up. Would not be surprised to see them split, with both teams winning at home. Give us a great report tomorrow night.

  12. Player made appeal to principal and he backed the coach. No mention of reinstatement. Player did nothing to deserve dismissal in the first place.

  13. Actually, Ezell's middle school team played 8-man games last year against some of the same schools that they'll be playing this year in the Middle Tennessee Athletic Conference. MTAC houses other sports too, but football came first for that league. This is the league that "Franklin" Grace played in before moving up to TSSAA, also Webb out of Bell Buckle is reportedly moving up this year. Schools have come and gone, but MTAC has had about a dozen football teams for the past four or five seasons. As far as talent goes, some of the teams have won invitation only national championships, and dozens of players have been signed to play college football in that same time frame.

  14. I have a couple of others in mind but I’ll withhold names for now. But Jackson would be a good choice. Not sure where in GA. I’m not completely surprised by this based on his track record. I personally liked Wagg and thought he was a phenomenal mentor for the kids. I wish him well but it’s time to move on.

  18. Bounder, I will really try and make it to ONE game. Would be fun just knowing I do not have to climb the steps UP. LOL Going down is no problem. In fact it is invigorating thinking about all the great players that have done it over the years. Folks that is a small part of what Oak Ridge Tradition is all about and why this stadium could/should never be abandoned.

  19. What in the heck is going on!Word is Jason Vance (school board) has called the principle and asked that coach Graves be fired.Vance has a Freshman son on team that undoubtly got passed over for a dress spot and now he is seeing red.Loudon folks please sort this out. The community seems to be behind the coach and Standing Tall and fighting hard. The same type situation happened in 2007 when coach Tony Williams was ousted at Lenoir City High School for typically the same reasons.I'm worried another great young coach is going to get canned over politics. That county is one of the worst I've ever seen or heard about!
