Ahhh, back in the good old Single A days of Catlick when they played at Evans-Collins Bill Satterfield’s Cherokees used to pound the Irish twice a year, every year. One time in a radio interview with Glen Morton, coach was asked how his team would react when the Irish brought a large crowd to a playoff game at Greenback in 1987... Coach said “I don’t care if they bring the Pope with them, they are not leaving here with a win.” THAT was classic Bill Satterfield.

I understand what I said may sound preposterous and make me look like I don't know anything about football, but that's from the outside looking in. I'm not saying we are going to be blowing people out of the water and winning games by 30 and and 40 and points as we have the last few years, putting up 50 60 points a game, no not at all! What I do believe we will see is us grinding it out on offense and holding our own on defense. I think we will the scores will be much closer this year, with Waverly pulling off the hard fought victories. There was a ton of talent on the team that wasn't fully utilized because so much of what we did was built around the 3 headed monster, that's all. I think this senior class coming up is going to really shine and surprise a lot of people is all I'm saying. Like I said in another post, I'm not saying they are getting a gold ball or anything, but I do believe they will do a lot better than everyone expects because we lost the 3. The upcoming 8th graders are a great group of kids, they've been undefeated the last two years, and as far as McCould is concerned, I'm not an insider so I can't speak on it, but I am friends with him personally, and he's always given me the impression that he doesn't really want the job. I think he likes where he's at, but that's just my opinion, never heard him say either way.

What did Tee do as OC that would warrant a other chance?? Last year was the only year he called plays and it was terrible. There is a good chance he needs more seasoning as a coach.

Why all the fuss, Tee will be here one year and move on to another better job. He ain't going to hang around for a position spot when he was a coordinator at USC. UT was the only place that threw him a life preserver when USC kicked him off the ship. I hope I'm wrong but I don't know anyone that's been used to eating steak all the sudden fall in love with Krystal's.

Agree. Not sure that’s a great comparison as HS football is not as difficult as the NBA to win consistently but I get your point. I never said he wouldn’t fail. I’m just saying that it’s crazy to say he’s not a good hire today based on his football knowledge and experience. Can you imagine the response if word got out that Lipscomb had a chance to hire him and didn’t? Today he’s a great hire, but in time we’ll have 20/20 vision and know whether he was a good hire or not. There’s just NO argument to say he is a bad hire today.

Beat a team with a winning record that’s relevant then talk about it. Until then just relax and don’t get too excited.

I wished it was setup day right after states on that Sunday. Give them a few pounds and get it done and over quickly so the kids only have one extra day of somewhat weight cut and it could be done early enough start time in morning that those a distance away can get back in time for school that Monday.

@Varo nothing from that article would raise a red flag for me with a new coach. His comment about retiring in AL and moving to TN was mischaracterized.

So who are your picks and who is garbage? As i said in my poll itself pretty much 1-8 is ok i just mixed around CB and Baylor, however after 8 it goes downhill fast! Oakland forfeited at 113 for some reason although their 113 wrestled that night and the next and it seems he is as good as the 113 Stewarts creek trotted out there. However we really don't know who is 9-15 really because they are all pretty average at best since Stewart creek beat oakland but lost to pretty much everyone else like Summit and Centennial although those teams ALSO lost to a bunch of other teams in that same 9-15 scale. so please put some knowledge on us ole pleebs and tell us who should be ranked where?

The TSSAA has had issues with the playoffs for a number of years but the real problems are just beginning to surface. My advice would be to combine everyone again and reduce the number of classifications for football to four. Play two of the state championship games in the East and the other two games in the West. Games should be played at the home filed of one of the schools. Yes you would have people everywhere and a school would have the option of moving the game to a larger venue but the school would take on the financial liability of moving the games to another venue. Also only take the top 2 teams from each district. You must make going to the playoffs a major accomplishment and a very special event.

Trust me.. we will hear about this for the rest of our lives. We will be gone and people will still be talking about this happening. It was truly a once in a lifetime event.

Problem throughout the state. Even traditional schools who love football have seen a decline. I know we have at TCHS! Many reasons for this. $$$, football interest waning, health concerns, rosters in decline, more for families to do, more things being offered in school (SOCIETY HAS CHANGED). Afraid the good ole days are over! GO JACKETS!
