  1. Booing a kid is unnecessary and classless. There is no excuse for booing a kid when their name is called for an award and all eyes are on them. The kids don't vote on the awards the coaches do and there are obviously issues between several of the coaches which unfortunately will lead to skewed votes and perhaps good players, not the best, winning awards. But booing a kid is INEXCUSABLE!!!

  2. Don’t know what happened !! I can just imagine these days . If coaches worried more about discipline than winning , we wouldn’t have kids questioning calls or showing their butt as another person said . Yes refs need to do their job . So do coaches and the kids . Coaches work the officials kids play the game and hand the ref the ball and go on , not all the questioning and body language . Not all coaches are like this , but a lot are . Sad where our kids are going . I will discipline my kid if the coach won’t . He will respect refs or he will sit . He will learn or he won’t play .

  4. Well, I guess we just need to tell our girls and Dresden girls to move on to soccer and softball since Greenfield is already in the finals. Appreciate the heads up!

  5. If you are talking about post season from now to the start of next season here is my list 1. Fargo - nothing but nothing compares to Fargo.. the exposure and what it means is huge. Kid AA at Fargo it’s automatic high level D1 offers 2. Super32 - by far the biggest Folkstyle tourney there is there is nothing even close. AA here and it’s automatic D1 offerss 3. UWW 15U world Team trials in Omaha, Cadets 17U world team trials in Akron, and Junior Nationals in Vegas. Yes, UWW added 15U this year for worlds. These are 3 different tourney but it’s just 3 different ages for chance to get on USA World team. These brackets are generally small but it’s the best of the best. It’s a chance to get on world team so placing here is legit and you are on the national latter. 4. Flo nationals - flo moved Flo Nationals back a month so it doesn’t compete with NHSCA anymore and they switch it to free/Greco and now it’s a seeding for Fargo and world team trials. It’s going to be HUGE this year. Every national kid I know is going to flonationals this year. With Flo behind it I think it will pass NHSCA this year in importance. And exposure kids will get this year at flo nationals will be huge 5. NHSCA - somehow they have faught off the competition from Folk Nationals and Flo Nationals and have gotten stronger every year. The exposure that kids got last year at NHSCA was huge. Placing at NHSCA means something especially to D1 coaches. That’s the big 5. I would recommend all kids who are serious about wrestling in college compete in all 5. Secondary Tourneys 1. Preseason Nationals and post season Folk Nationals are legit tourneys and while you get good exposure at both it’s not like one of big 5. AA here isn’t going to get offers it will help build a resume but not great as a stand alone 2. Journeyman - another solid tourney especially if you can get in the A tourney. Again like preseason - a good resume builder and great wrestling experience but that’s it 3. USA regionals - huge for developing wrestling skill in free/Greco and getting exposure but there so many that being an AA or even winning just pads your resume and that’s it. I highly recommend going to as many as possible but great experience 4. Michigan Grappler - tough as nails tourney - Palmer won it this year and it put him on the national map. It’s a solid resume build that will get you exposure 5. Nhsca Duals - always competes with SE regionals but if you only doing Folk(I don’t recommend this at all) this is best Folk dual tourney in offseason. Great experience and tough competition if you can get on a good team 6. Disney Duals - great experience and it’s a super fun trip. It’s Disney so it really fun trip. Competition has fallen off the past 2 years there is really no exposure for competing here that’s pretty much it for big stuff.. I’m probably missing stuff and if I think about it I’ll add them Oh and the USA duals, schoolboy, cadets, and juniors. I recommend the schoolboy but skip the cadets and especially the junior duals. Way to expensive, competition is weak and getting weaker every year plus the format is just to much and to many kids get hurt . Absolutely no exposure at all from cadet and junior duals. Just not worth it at all.

  6. CC shot around 20% from the floor against Tullahoma. That’s unlikely to happen again. Vinson is very special and they have two seniors that can put up big numbers on offense. The offense can quickly come and unfortunately go as well. Not a lot of imagination in the offense either. When shots fall they are very dangerous. But when they aren’t, the lack of movement and in game adjustments are lacking. Everything goes thru Vinson as it should, but that’s a lot of burden to put on a Sophmore no matter how talented she is. And yes, you don’t call that foul in the district championship, but CC should have never put their fate in the officials hand. Easily their worst performance of the year. I’ve seen a team that could beat most anyone at times. They beat East Hamilton in a Saturday play day, two days before the season started. They went toe to toe with one of the better teams in FL over Christmas. That team has 2 D1 seniors and the 2nd ranked freshman in the country. Other times, I have thought we couldn’t beat Columbia. Which team comes Friday, I have no idea. Talent won 20 something games. Talent, coaching, and execution will have to take them forward.

  10. Interesting stat from last night.......both teams were 16-29 from field! Amazing how few shots were taken. Lots of good defense. GC hit 9 more free throws. They were attacking the basket and were drawing fouls.

  11. I get it. You’re a duals guy. Some would rather have (or watch) a team full of 5th place guys. That’s great. Personally I’d rather have or watch a team with 3 champs, and a few qualifiers. That’s just me. To me the entire reason I wrestled was to pin the guy. That was always the object for me. Not to try to lose by a little. Everyone has different philosophies.

  12. She has hit 50 or more threes this season..but trust me she can score in the post..nobody watches more film on her than me..the teams that don't double and sag will realize that
    1 point
  13. I see that and that is exactly what I was telling the one who commented. She can see above most defenses for the pass in or roll off and drive but the rest of the team is not on the same page or near as effective. She will look good doing that at the next level it just dont work at McNairy. As for HS, if she is down low she breaks up any zone defense with the double team but then again you got to have consistent shooters on the outside to keep the defense honest. Her up top at McNairy IMO makes them less effective and makes it easier to defend everyone else. Yall are one good shooter away from getting to the boro

  14. She is more effective away from the basket..she gets smothered in the post with doubles and sags she can drive and pull up ..alot of times she's up top they attempt a pick and roll or pick and pop..doesnt always work

  15. I am calling upset and saying Dresden beats TCA. Dresden has proven in the past that they can win do or die region games on the road. I think Dresden is mad about how their district tournament showing went and are hungry to keep their season going. Dresden plays a physical in your face defense and they will probably faceguard Lee. Tinley Winn will be a good test for TCA's posts

  16. well, he could answer but its pretty easy, that no its not as hard or even close to as hard to place small school as it is AAA, ALSO you would be wrong on it adding schools for wrestling. Year before the split there were 161 schools that wrestled, i checked this year and show 146, so it was a net loss of 15 programs and thats not really good at all when you look at the amount of school growth the state has experienced, there are new schools popping up everywhere but yet we lost wrestling programs. So to me it doesnt show at all that a split helped the growth of participation by programs.

  17. Bradley being 4th overall seems pretty relevant to me.

  18. I understand the reasoning behind small school. I'm not saying I agree with it all the time. To me its almost like saying you don't have a chance at medaling In the large school division so we'll make our own special division just for you, a participation trophy and I think its taken away great matchups I would've loved to have seen. Like PF battling it out with Centennial in the blood rounds at state duals would've been awesome. I get it will never happen but I just haven't been a fan of the a-aa since the introduction of it. But this is a big issue.

  22. I don’t think he meant that statement how you took that statement. I can assure you, no one is taking anyone lightly (with the exception of Madison) at this point in the season.

  23. Huh? Oddsmakers would say Gleason should win by 10.. They are the higher seed and most would agree the better team. Peabody has better athletes but unfortunately have a tendency to struggle shooting. If they play sloppy, they will get throttled!

  25. Which state tournament did region six win to take their place??
    1 point
  26. "State Champions by region: R1- 3 R2- 0 R3- 0 R4- 4 R5- 0 R6- 4 R7- 1 R8- 2 Total medalists by region: R1-14 R2- 1 R3- 3 R4- 16 R5- 11 R6- 18 R7- 11 R8- 10 Regions 4 and 6 tie for state champs.. for what it’s worth all 4 R4 champs were from Cleveland. Region 6 wins the most overall medals with 18. " Get off your high horse. Region 4 wasn't the best region in the state this past weekend. And stop thinking that because Cleveland and Bradley win tournaments that its ok for them to act this way. The kid took a freakin swing at another kid in a match and all I see is you region 4 people coming on here basically saying "oh well, that's what we do". You guys disgust me.

  27. Laughable! I would argue just the opposite. Jones was given way too much latitude. He should have been ejected after the first flagrant punch to the back of the head. He then missed on an intended crossface/punch and proceeded to try to twist the other wrestlers knee to hurt him. I feel that wrestlers from 99% of other teams would surely have been ejected after the second incident. I believe he was given way too much rope because of the singlet he was wearing.

  28. The regional games will be at Bradley after first round. I have seen all of the teams in both regions play. Bradley definitely has the toughest bracket. Cookeville has given stone all they wanted all 3 games they have played especially last night. White county isn’t playing well but they have some ballers. I expect WC to make a game of it. But Bradley’s pressure could force WC into too many turnovers and blow them out. Cookeville has beaten Cleveland twice this year. I think we are playing well enough to make it 3 in a row. Similar size teams but Cookeville has a deeper bench. I believe it will be Cookeville vs Bradley in next round. On other side of bracket. Stone should handle Mcminn with their size advantage. I don’t see how this is too close. Stone is playing great and just too big. East Hamilton vs Rhea puzzles me. How did Rhea win that game earlier this year? I think Hayes scores 30 and Hampton scores 30. If Rhea shoots the 3 like they did last night this will be a game. Ultimately, I think 14 is just too good for a team as small as Rhea. EH should win. Stone vs EH will be a battle of the bigs. Should be a close game. Brackets here http://brackets.jim314.com/

  29. Evidently North greene has our girls number as well. They've beat us 3 times this year. NG has been a real thorn in the side of Hampton and cloudland for several seasons now. I've never gotten over the football game in baileyton where they beat us 21-7. Its very embarrassing for an elite football program to lose to NG. Its like vandy waxing the vols. I'd be suicidal if I were those players

  30. Macon dominates from the tip & Dana looked lost! When Upperman came out after halftime you could tell they were defeated by just their body language. Macon's crowd was loud and really put the "home crowd" from UHS to shame! I'd say it was easily 3-1 Macon Fans

  31. 9 district championships in 9 years? Wow! That is crazy! Jealousy of the other coaches is out of hand!

  32. nobody is taking up for him lol. You don’t take a shot at the whole team because of what he did. But then again you’ve hated on Cleveland and region 4 all year which is pretty much what u are known for on here, oh yeah and crying about rankings. Go cry in your room if that makes you feel better.

  33. We handed out invitations on Saturday night to the champions, and then followed up today with their coaches. We should know in the next couple of days who is committing to attend. When weight classes start to fill up, I’ll add them here so that everyone knows who will be wrestling in each weight class. Based on initial responses, it looks like it’s going to be an event to remember!

  34. Oh no, we aren’t counting out Gleason at all. I think anyone would prefer to play Gleason over Greenfield though. Neither will be easy. Dresden will be a tough game as well for the second place team. Greenfield/Madison is probably the only easy game left.

  36. I was in Oak Ridge yesterday on business and very close to Blankenship so I dropped by to see how progress was going on the new field. Looks like they have the outside forms up and ready for the field drainage then the gravel. Looking good.

  37. I totally agree with you on placing everyone back together for one big individual state tournament. However, I do not believe that will ever happen because someone's LITTLE JOHNNY would have to really work to just make it to the state tournament.

  38. I get sick of people in higher divisions acting so superior. I never said we would win in 6A. I said IF we had the talent that 6A has we could win gold. There are gifted athletes in the lower divisions and excellent coaches. There is pressure everywhere. At TC the whole town turns out for games, scrimmages, AND practices. That is pressure. True pressure . Plus the superintendent is there as well, you may know his name. It is Clint Satterfield of the coaching Satterfield family legends.
