  2. I think Dendy, Isbell, and Whiteside are the top 3, and any of those 3 could win on a given day. It’s just a matter of who is wrestling the best on that day. Dendy beat Isbell in OT, Isbell beat Whiteside in OT, and Whiteside beat Isbell by decision. The point is that I think they are all really close to each other. Then I’d probably go Wysong just behind them. I’m not saying to change the seeding, but just giving my personal opinion of how I see it playing out.

  3. And for those that want to see who has the most state champions since that matters to newest guy and OW, there is a list here. And just as a little FYI it doesn’t have many others besides Father Ryan carrying the banner for outside of Chattanooga. Heck Red Bank before the split had more then most other outside Chattanooga schools. Out of the 16 with 4 or more state titles only 3 of those come from anyone outside of Chattanooga and also Bradley that team that finished 2nd a few weeks ago but didn’t do as well at your individuals, hunt they are on a bunch of these lists of the best wrestlers and most state titles http://tssaasports.com/history/records/view.cfm?type=championship&sport=wrestling

  4. Thanks for the pub, but it's one game at a time. Hey, since you and I are Big Orange fans, was the Kentucky game a good loss for our Vols ? I think it maybe, we were getting everyone's best and now the pressure is off. I think Barn's didn't mind it. He can now get the Vols to return to hard nose defense and team ball.

  6. You just said you've never seen him lose, he always wins. Just commenting on that saying he does have an L this year.

  7. I think Isbell just showed he is also going to the next level. So again, yes he would be the favorite, but easily win it. I don’t agree

  10. Couldn’t agree more! The guard from Mo East is great too.. but Atwood has to be the best player east of Morristown.

  11. Region-1 AAA (teams that will advance to the Sectionals): 1. DB 2. Sevier County I personally think DB is a lock to win the Region. 2nd place behind them could be between about 3 teams but I'm picking Sevier County with the way the matchups are in the bracket. Let me say this though. Tennessee High can certainly beat Sevier County in the quarterfinal matchup between these 2 teams. If that was to happen then Tenn. High, South Doyle, or even Science Hill could be a factor for 2nd place. I just don't see any of these 7 other teams beating DB. DB is a solid team all around but their defense is what wins most of their games even though they have about 4 capable scorers that can go off anytime.

  12. Yes, Atwood is the best boy's basketball player in NE Tennessee(Tri-Cities area) for sure. The other 2 closest players to Atwood from this area would be Marae Foreman from Dobyns-Bennett & Chad Heglar from Daniel Boone but they are both just behind Atwood. I've seen Blake Atwood play twice this season & he is a tough guy to guard. He's 6'2" but he's physical, strong, athletic, & skillful. Nobody from this area anyhow has been able to stop him. He's double-teamed an awful lot too but he can even beat those type defenses as well. He's a very good passer but the Longhorns look for him to score as expected. He's also a great rebounder @ 6'2". I think his father being the head coach shows the bloodline of basketball in Atwood. He's just a very solid & well-rounded basketball player. He's also from a great family as well so the kid has great character. I don't know where he will play college basketball but whatever school that gets him is getting a really good basketball player & even better person.

  15. I love watching Childress play. Very underrated player, she has improved her game a ton this year. Maybe she will pick up some college offers next season. Or maybe she could join former lady lion Millie Bryant at Bethel

  16. If any female wrestlers are interested in going to Nationals in OKC and would like to be part of the Tennessee Team please contact me. Last year we took 36 girls for the individual tournament and entered 2 teams in the duals finishing 7th. We will also take girls to 6 other girls tournaments including Fargo, the World Team Trials and 1 international tournament. OKC is our most significant girls tournament because it is also a college tournament and every college is there with tables for recruiting. If any coaches would like to help out contact me as well, Thanks. Doug Badon 423-335-3045 DougBadon@yahoo.com

  18. Macon shot probably over 70% in first half from 3 pt line, folks they probably couldn't play much better,Upperman probably could not play much worse and best player got in foul trouble early, and Upperman still cut the lead in 3rd qtr to single digits ,don't sleep on the Lady Bees just yet. and when u only get one chance against an opponent hard to game plan for ,Macon and Upperman know each other really good so don't think what Macon does against Upperman that everyone else can. just sayin

  19. Boys District 1-AAA Tournament results: Dobyns-Bennett Science Hill Daniel Boone Tennessee High Boys District 2-AAA tournament results: Sevier County Morristown East South Doyle Morristown West Region 1-AAA tournament quarterfinals Saturday: (1-1) Dobyns-Bennett vs. (2-4) Morristown West (2-2) Morristown East vs. (1-3) Daniel Boone (1-2) Science Hill vs. (2-3) South Doyle (2-1) Sevier County vs. (1-4) Tennessee High Any thoughts or predictions? I believe Sevier County came from pretty much out of nowhere to win District 2. D-B went 5-0 against District 2 during the regular season (2x vs. Morristown East, 2x vs. Jefferson County, Morristown West) Daniel Boone went 1-2 (beat South Doyle, lost to both Morristowns) Science Hill went 0-2 (lost x2 to Morristown East) Tennessee High went 0-1 (lost to Morristown East)

  20. How could we forget to have a Region 4 discussion without mentioning Soddy who was 48th with no placers! And by the way, once upon a time, The Cowboys won a Superbowl.

  21. The refs have a terrible habit of calling fouls and then staring the kids down to see if they have an emotional reaction, which sometimes results in a technical also. It is terrible. Call the foul and report it to the scorer's table and move on. Quit staring down the kids.
