  1. As a long time follower and rarely a poster, I'd like to advise ignoring Pinocchio007 and TNFootballFanatic. They're just trouble makers on the 5-6A boards. Don't let them get started here.

  2. An open letter to all the dads with current or future ballplayers: Gentlemen, YOU are the CEO of Your Son Inc. This position bestows on YOU an enormous weight and burden. There is no one to help you with your decisions, YOU are an island. The decisions YOU make will be part of the formation of YOUR son for the rest of his life. YOU are the wind in his sails YOU are his navigator most importantly YOU are his rudder to steer him in calm seas and gales as well. He is blessed with all the knowledge YOU have shared with him. His heart and mind are strong and his eyes are clear. He looks up to YOU and observes and stores away to the tiniest detail of YOUR actions. He will certainly be the man YOU form him to be. He has generally only four years of High School eligibility. As the CEO of Your Son Inc. YOU MUST guide him YOU MUST put him in the best situation to be successful! Anything less is abject failure. If YOU decide to stay in an abysmal situation then throw away your scabbard and stay and FIGHT for him to your last breath. If YOU decide to journey to a different land, run don't walk. They're are great adventures to be experienced on the other side of the mountain. YOUR young warrior will be welcomed by the army there. The sand in the hour glass ebbs away even as YOU read this. Make haste make a plan. Make the decision that ensures YOUR son, YOUR flesh and blood the best opportunity to be successful. Listen not to the fools that would call YOU a coward. Remember, The weak and the timid will stay back and defend the past while the brave and aggressive charge headlong into the future.

  3. It was so obvious....and I agree with that last statement. If that crew has to answer to an officiating supervisor, I don't see how they justify their take on all of those calls, walks. Thankfully, we'll be getting an "out of" Memphis crew this Saturday night. This kind of game makes us appreciate our local refs a little more. They don't usually effect the outcome of games...to that extent. lol. If that would've been an NBA game, there would be an investigation. lol

  4. I couldn’t agree with this post more! Wow!! I don’t complain about it either but that was beyond terrible! The woman ref would have gotten the MVP if Southside had won that game!!

  5. I finally called one to the exact margin. OT and WV played half court defense, instead of running.

  6. Here's my take and I don't want to offend many, but I probably will. I hope the Miller girl will be ok and I hated to see her go down and if she stays in..... SS probably wins. With that being said and I don't usually get in to all of this, but that was by far the worst officiated game I've witnessed in years. Even though Westview won that game, they were playing 8 tonight for 4 quarters. 25 or 26 fouls? to 7 fouls. 24 free throw attempts to 6 or 7 free throw attempts. SS is a great team, but in the bathroom at halftime I even talked with some SS fans and they were complaining that they weren't ahead with the "help" they got in the first half. If the officials don't keep SS in that game, WV would've won by at least 15. If the tournament administrators turn that film in to TSSAA, that crew wouldn't call another Region championship in 7AA. I think SS will beat Covington and Tresou (#2) almost beat WV by herself tonight. She is a player and if she wanted to score more, we'd recognize her name as well as we do Miller's. Congrats to WV on another tourney win. Your team seems to get better every year and that defense is stifling. 2 great teams and bad officiating. I don't even complain against officials in our losses and I tend to defend them, but not tonight. Absoulutely horrendous. Ok, I'm off my rant now. Good luck to both WV and SS going forward.

  7. When you beat out a Tess Darby you need to have a good game. Tess has had 3 years All state, several MVP’s and 2000 points. And I want even start with Chloe Moore, she may be the top player in the state in all classifications. For sure Miss Basketball this year.

  8. Thank you rebel for your opinion. You seem to know your basketball. I heard several people with that same opinion about Loretto and Miss Basketball.

  10. Fillies were a different team with Fuller. Hey we make that long trek last year and won the regional, it was worth the drive. Y'all over in dist 12 are young but so is everybody in region 6 & 7. Fillies only lose 1 starter. Next year is gonna be fun

  11. Eddie and his family are Definitely good people HTV. Heck of a Guy, weight room trainer, and football coach. He reminds me a lot of Pruitt at UT

  12. Hammonds definitely should be thankful for that meeting, because he was NOT the most qualified candidate for the head coach position at GHS. Just hope that same $$ can win football games. Sounds like everyone who didn’t get the job should sit back and say “Thank You” Because they’ve got quite a show to watch unfold now.

  13. I am an official and the answer is no. Like Big Orange Baller said, you can only run baseline after a made basket

  14. Weathers is a great freshman talent. She reminds me a lot of a younger T. Darby. She is not as seasoned as Tess or Chloe at this point. Loretto as a team doesn't handle the ball well enough to beat Greenfield. Loretto's size could give GC problems. But again they better handle the ball better. Summertown is also pretty solid. Could upset Loretto in region finals.

  17. Those Maryville boys really like to talk on the floor. Seems like Joe is always trying to get into a scuffle with somebody. In any other situation I would say Glover's dunk was uncalled for but last night it wasn't. The Maryville players and fans bring that stuff on themselves and then like to cry about poor sportsmanship when they lose.

  18. I told several people chances of beating Greenfield 3 times in a row would have been slim, MO. Not guaranteed to meet again but if so it would take a little pressure off of GC. Thought GC pressed a little especially early and when they did settle in and make a good run Greenfield would answer. Lot of basketball left to be played. GC has bounced back extremely well this season after a loss. I expect the same from these girls. They have been the consensus number 1 team since the polls came out because of the way they played and have had a bullseye on their back most of the year. As a family member of a player, I am very humble to the good Lord for the blessings of this basketball season and I do expect the girls to rally back.

  19. Believing the answer is no. Dead ball baseline out of bounds no movement. BUTTTTT.......will depend on who is calling the game in most cases I have found.

  20. again, HE has been at MANY different weights every since he graduated, not sure if he cuts weight to go into an easier class or just not worry about cutting to participate in a tougher class. Facts are he has been in the past 4 years at different weight classes bouncing to and from with a low i saw of 60kg and a high of 79kg. And its not just him as he gets older his weight goes up, he wrestled that 79kg i found in 2015 but wrestled a 66 in 2018, he is just a natural jumper and thats always a plus because he can be used anywhere someone see's fit. so again I dont care what he weighed his senior year(i weighed 150lbs my senior year and wrestled 170 myself, although i wasnt very good i was good enough to do that weight difference and do ok with it). the higher you get up the less difference of it and why we go all the way from 195 to 220 up to heavyweight 285. The entire point though is that Michael is a heck of a wrestler, has been since he won state as an 8th grader and that McCoy in no way proves a bad wrestler because he lost to Hooker in the grand championships 5-1, which was actually one of his closest matches for the entire season. The weight itself doesnt matter a darn bit!

  21. Not very good at weight cutting? Really? I've seen him drop 10 lbs in a day, when he didn't have it to cut. We learned a lot from him on how to cut. He was very good at it during middle school and early high school years. My guess is that he grew tired of cutting, and decided to just wrestle at whatever weight he was at during his senior year. (which is what a lot of great wrestlers do)

  22. Did you forget about Memphis East? I think East is the favorite then Whitehaven, then Bearden. Oak Ridge only lost to Whitehaven by four back in December. I think OR and Bearden both make it to state. The following teams are still playing: Whitehaven Memphis East Bartlett Bolton Brentwood Franklin Station Camp Gallatin East Hamilton Cleveland Bearden Oak Ridge Sevier County Dobyns-Bennett NOTE: Oakland vs Riverdale and Blackman vs. Siegel are playing tonight in elimination games. The winners play and then they get East Hamilton and Cleveland in Sectionals.

  26. I think Bearden is just going to be too tough for Oak Ridge in the R2-AAA Championship Game. The backcourt of Glover & Stephney are just too good for Oak Ridge. I think Bearden takes the R2-AAA title & of course host the Sectionals. I don't think it's really going to matter that much who they face in the Sectionals either. I see them State Tournament bound with a solid chance of winning the title. Whitehaven might be their toughest test come state tourney time because I don't see them getting beat either in the Sectionals. The only other team in my opinion from AAA that could beat Bearden in the state tourney would be Bartlett. Cleveland is a really good team too but they just don't have the talent of Bearden. As for R1-AAA, Morristown East just about pulled it off against DB in the title game just like I thought they had a chance in doing so. DB made enough defensive stops down the stretch to win the game. The biggest surprise to me was how easy of a time Sevier County had with Science Hill. I predicted this game would be no more than a 1-5 point game. I have to give Dobyns-Bennett the edge vs Sevier County for the Championship. I just don't think Sevier County has the athletes to beat DB. If DB is on their game then I see a double digit victory for DB in the R1-AAA title game.

  30. No apologies needed it’s just social media. Besides I use to live in Johnson City and Morristown, (I have a previous connection to University School and Morristown East) so I follow some of the teams up there. I’ve seen D-B and Science Hill play this year, I haven’t had a chance to see Sevier County or Mo-East.
