  3. Sorry, I didn't mean to paint you up like a villain but only trying to explain that he wouldn't mention anything about a player. The whole point was to let Barnaby Jones know his sense of clues were way off. A friend of mine posted that Morristown Meme on facebook that evening just as you saw it and I got on Coach T and saw the new Mo Town East Thread that had only one post that was a day old waiting for a reply. So I did what me or you are famous for so I figured I would add a little foot traffic into the room so the guy wouldn't just hang there. Didn't mean to set the guy on fire like I did though. I can tell from your post that you have been burned in one way or the other by Shad so it's payback time which have been pretty funny. You have definitely upset the applecart at WB or they wouldn't all be lined up whining to Coach T. Like I said earlier in a post that I will not say anymore that would insult the fans of WB because I do pull for all the teams in Blount County.

  4. At the $750000 cost, probably not gonna happen at Gallatin anytime soon. Too many other stadium problems to get solved first.

  7. No doubt it will be a tough game for GC. I thought Summertown dodged a major bullett against Huntingdon like we did against Peabody in the semis of the Region. Looks like this thing is wide open, IMO. I don't see a clear advantage for anyone in any of these games actually.

  8. There were some fabulous players back in the early 90s. They were the "second wave" of state championship players. Jody Reaves, Jennifer Davis, Jeannette Davis and Susan Starnes were tough and tall. If I recall correctly, they all started as freshman. I apologize to all of the other great players I have failed to mention. The Davis twins now teach and coach at the grammar school level. One has a daughter who is in 8th grade and will be playing for South Greene next year. If you were to go to a home game at South Greene, you'd likely run into several former SG men and women athletes who teach there. They'll work the concession stand when they are needed. Several former players have sons and daughters currently playing for South Greene. It is a wonderful tradition that will continue way past the events, win or lose, of the coming week. Good luck to you and enjoy yourself!

  9. I think GC and Summertown got a better draw than Greenfield, Clarkrange and Loretta, but nothing is automatic in the Boro. I thought in 2016 we had a tough bracket playing Van Buren County, who knocked off Jackson County in sub-state, then number 1 Middleton and then South Green. Summertown is a good team that can win it all as well. They have been up there three years in a row and are very experienced with the Boro. We will have all we can handle with these guys right out of the gate.

  10. The sports editor of the Johnson City Press has made it very clear in the past that Greeneville is not in their coverage area even though they have some subscribers in Greene County.

  11. Clarkrange drew Greenfield in the quarterfinals so I don't think they can beat them but you're right. You just never know in these state tourney matchups. Any team can beat another team on any given day.

  13. Greenfield, Loretto, Clarkrange all in the same bracket. These comments are going to be delicious. Good luck to everyone!! I'm hoping for a 6th game with Loretto with the Lady Eagles winning the one that matters.

  14. Thanks. I wouldn't rule out Clarkrange either. 33-3 and a ton of tradition.

  15. Oh I am very familiar with South Greene. Especially in the early 90’s. They were back to back AA state champs and had a team that went undefeated like 37-0. That team was stacked. I remember thinking that year that South Grene would have beaten Shelbyville which were the AAA champs. Anyway good luck.

  16. Listen I was there as well, if they could have found a way to stop Levy from driving Westview Pre them injuries last year wins state by 8

  17. Cosby was the better team for the first 3 quarters, but never could stretch the lead. Last I heard the games play for 4 quarters and UH had enough gas in the tank...AS A TEAM...to close it out. Meredith is a special talent, but UH plays best when they work as a unit and the 4th quarter showed that! Both of these teams could be tough outs because thier is no quit in either

  18. Everyone hates to see great players get injured. I was there and it completely changed Westview's offense and attitude, when Jones went down. I don't know if WV could've beaten Upperman or not, but I think that a healthy Jones & Gray would've gotten WV that gold ball.

  19. Yea they would have won last year if their pg didn’t go dwn! I hate injuries in high school especially!

  20. I've watched WV 4 times since we (Gibson County) beat WV the 2nd time this season in the Lions tourney. The most amazing part of the WV identity is that they completely changed their offense after Christmas. What coach puts in completely different offensive set/lineup during the middle of the season anymore? Based upon all of the teams that we've faced this year, (to me)...they are by far the best and most versitile team that we played all season. If their offense is clicking, they're going to be a very difficult out...but their entire post-regular season attention focuses on defense and they force you to play their style of ball. A good draw this afternoon and they can make it to Saturday. It'd be nice for all 3 of our NW Tennessee teams to go deep this year and I'm hoping it happens.

  21. The "favorites" in my book: 1A- Greenfield (defending champs)..have to be favored going in with Ms. Basketball candidate C Moore. 2A- Macon County 3A- Riverdale The "hopes" in my book: 1A- Gibson County! 2A- Westview 3A- Arlington Note: I'm for the West side of the State, if you didn't notice.

  22. I don't think Crockett scores over 32 against Mitchell. Crockett's only hope is to try to get out in transition with Hannah and try to put pressure on Mitchell's bigs. Otherwise Mitchell is gonna clamp down on Shelton and make it very difficult for them to run any offense. South Gibson has a shot, a very small one. Try to sit in a zone and force Wooddale to slow the game down.

  23. I agree we are right there with them. Just said Vegas odds because they won it last year. Vegas odds and my odds are different. Lol.. Clarkrange, GC, Loretta Summertown all have as good a shot. Team we played last night was tough. Good game for us before we get up there. Who would you compare the team last night too? Peabody or who?

  24. Don't sell your Lady Pioneers short, pioneer. They are right there with Greenfield as favorites! Both are tough and battle tested for sure!

  25. It looks to be a competitive tournament, for sure. I wish I could go, but the drive is very long. I'll be content to listen on the radio. March 10, I will meet my son in Cookeville to pick up my two grand sons for some spring break fishing here in Greene. Have to house clean and get the fishing gear ready for that this coming week. A little background on South Greene girls basketball for interested readers: The three senior starters were major players as freshmen in 2016, when SG won the first of two consecutive Class A titles. That first year, there were no seniors and only one junior on the team. Experience will be a strong suit for this year's team. Two of the girls missed the early part of last season because of ACL injuries. From what I have seen, they are now fully recovered and playing their best ball. They have had the same coach for the past several years. This year he has started different combinations of players and he seems to have settled on two freshmen who will start. The tournament is sure to be grueling for all teams—especially if teams are not playing a lot of players. South Greene HS was established in 1965. This will be their 30th trip to the state tournament. Good luck to every player on every team!

  29. Tough game tonight for Stone Memorial. We got plenty of good looks tonight, but couldn't make anything (especially in the first half). We didn't shoot it very well in either of the last 2 games. Bad time to go cold shooting the ball. Credit to BC & RD, they out played us and earned both wins. Tough path for any team to try to get wins @ Bradley Co. & @ Riverdale. Proud of our players & coaches. First class program.

  30. Yes I did..didn't realize it until you mentioned it ! I also split the "home" teams vice the "visiting" teams(4 to 4). I haven't done a study but I believe the home team wins the majority of the time. We will see on Monday night and good luck to all involved!!

  31. I don’t know about it being the loudest gym they’ve ever been in. Did you go to the girls game tonight ( Clay co vs Eagleville)?? If so, you heard how loud Eagleville fans can be so Fayetteville has been in a loud gym before! They will be fine.

  35. Thanks. This is turning out to be an awesome rivalry to participate in. Any precedent on two teams playing each other 5 times in a season? Asking for a friend.

  37. Don’t think either one can go on the road and beat Humboldt. Could be wrong but I see Humboldt winning at home in a substate game.

  38. I would have Oak Ridge in over East Hamilton or Stone Memorial.
