  1. Welch is a good coach. I am surprised he didn't apply for the Wilson Central job since he was once an assistant under Randall Hutto at Lebanon.

  2. There's not a better offensive mind in East Tennessee than is Caleb. What he did with no athletes, no numbers, and very little financical support at CCHS was admirable. His team always scored points. They simply, like a lot of schools, didn't have the numbers nor the quantity of athletes to be able to two platoon, and with todays fast offenses running 80-100 plays ever game, that's what it takes to be able to win on a big scale. Kids can't play every down on offense, defense, and special teams and not feel the effects. This is a good hire for East, in my opinion. I believe you'll be surprised at how well you did when all is said and done.

  4. I think DB is replacing a lot to make it to 7-3. All World Hicks graduated (He carried that team to 4 wins last year), Redwine, Bristol, Salyers, Starke, and now Browder is gone to Christ School. I could see them going 6-4 but also could see them being 4-6 again Hardin Valley, Tennessee High, Oak Ridge, Bearden, Farragut, Alcoa, and Science Hill will all be tough games for the Tribe

  5. Are you insinuating some GB posters may be sandbagging? That a perennial football power with lots of returning players and some convenient transfers to fill in their holes may still be formidable in 2019?

  7. You can rest assured that Wilson Central has never had a coach like Steve Thompson who has taken seven (7) teams to the STATE TOURNAMENT.

  9. Do McMinn County fans still go down to Mayfield's Dairy late at night after a big win and celebrate by Cow Tipping?

  10. 8 teams represented and the most exciting competition to date... the atmosphere was electric and big lifting from every team. Cascade’s Gryphon Lefler won the overall lifter award (pound for pound) Mt Pleasant’s Tari Frierson had a huge 605 pound deadlift for an event record. Hickman County’s Roc Colllins had a big day with 300+bench and 560 pound deadlift Richland’s Jace Yurawitch and MTP’s Ethan Beasley had big days highlighted with 275 and 285 cleans respectively and 500+ deadlifts Wayne County’s Patterson had a great day Mt Pleasant won the team award

  12. Not at all. You can draw your own conclusions. He spent his last two seasons at EH with less than a full staff. One guy can't coach 60-70 players.

  14. With Heath Shuler son Navy Shuler being the QB at Christ School he could have a big year. Navy threw for 4,000 yards last year.
