One thing I've learned about Huntingdon, their fans on the T think they are the best team hands down in 1A every year. That's ok and all, however I'd hate to be let down year in and year out for not being a realist.1 point

I don't like to bet against a team I'm pulling for to win BC. If Alcoa goes there and wins I'll be happy. If Maryville gets by Oakland in the playoffs I'll be happier.1 point

I agree, but years past we were always worried about losing that #1 QB and not having a good backup. This year i think we have 2 very capable starters.1 point

Ironically, some of the '69 Pirates may have knocked slag out of those things on their free time.1 point

Home run hire. Lets see how he deals with the "Good ole Boy system". My guess is he'll be so frustrated by the end of his first year he'll burn rubber leaving Kingsport. Hope I'm wrong and he cleans house and saves the sinking ship. I'm actually shocked that they hired an outsider. Maybe the "Good ole Boys" are losing their grip now that Clark is out of town.1 point

Kid is an honor student and humble. He doesn’t have Avery’s size yet but he has more speed and is a weight room warrior. He has the work ethic, intelligence and attitude Avery did. Sky is the limit for this kid. Only time will tell.1 point

I understood that it was probably a veiled attempt at sarcasm, but there are folks out there (Not Maryville folk, least not those on CoachT) that think just because Oakland runs Wing-T that somehow means they'll run the ball 50-60 times a game. So wasn't trying to nitpick at your post, just at those that think because Oakland runs the Wing-T that they're a 1 trick pony on offense1 point

I've never seen Malone play football, but he progressed remarkably last spring as a track and field athlete, improving so much in the triple jump that he went to State and made the All-PrepXtra team in the jumps. He improved his 400 down to the 52-53 range, which is getting there. With long legs, long speed, jumping ability, and the coordination to triple jump, he may surprise a few people on the football field. I watched the triple jump at the Sectional meet and thought he had potential.1 point

Jackson Southside not to bad but Wooddale will be to much for them. I'm worried about their second scorer.1 point

All in good fun. As long as Alcoa keeps winning titles I won’t argue if they get a ton of kids on any all state list.1 point

MJ is kind of like Pearl Cohn, despite the hype, I won't believe it til they win it. Its Oakland and Maryville again in 6A and Oakland has to travel this year in the playoffs.1 point

I think Corbin had 60 yrds of total offense but they got over 100 yrds in penalties . Not to mention the plays Alcoa had called back due to penalties. That call of " hitting a defenseless player" that was running with ball and pitched it a split second before he was tackled...whew. I'm usually a sweet, happy go lucky fella, but that call caused a very volatile reaction. I've seen a lot of football, but I can't ever remember a game, especially HS, that was so Pro Wrasslin fixed from beginning to end. Corbin was scared to play us in Tn, they wouldn't travel. But kids need to learn that life isn't fair and whats important is how you respond when its not fair. Our kids responded like champs they are by the end of the season. Corbin did not win state, guess KY wouldn't let their former principal ref the title game like he did the Alcoa game. Yes, I vaguely remember the game. LOL1 point

Just hope we don't go there looking forward and them boys start smelling those grilled hamburgers WB is famous for and get lazy.1 point

That would be nice, when one team starts to dominate it really starts to hurt the game and people quit going when things are predictable. That's what 6 classifications have caused.1 point

You laughing your butt off every post is nasty as well if you think about it. I mean just think about watching someone laugh so hard that their butt falls off!! Nasty!!!1 point

Just imagine when Odoms is a senior and Damron is a Sophomore! This year may be good but next year should be outstanding in the pass game! Probably best in Henry County history1 point

Another tread on CoachT has the new Sonny Moore rankings...Oak Ridge is ranked # 16 overall and the # 1 true Class 5A team. The ranking list Catholic as the #1 5A team but we know Catholic is no longer in the 5A Classification. I know most fans don't put any validity in polls but here are my thoughts. If you are going to have rankins/polls then I like Oak Ridge somewhere in there. Do I feel we are the # 1 5A team? NO. To me Knoxville Central is # 1. Do I feel with a tremendous amount of hard work we can earn the right to call OR # 1 at the end of the season? YES. I am excited for this season to start and watch the Wildcats improve from week to week. Best of luck in practice Cats. We believe in you and are pulling for you everyday. RWR! Wildcat Pride.1 point

So you accepted a challenge, but then won’t follow through with it once you’re proven wrong? That’s not surprising at all.1 point

Best as I can tell, UT tends to think they're better off recruiting Nationally, especially for their skill players. They'll offer pretty much every 4 and 5 star kid no matter where they live, but then only offer the lower-ranked Tennessee kids once someone else shows interest.1 point

Can we all say somebody is about to get a large dose of 'sports reality'? Facts are RECRUITING happens both in Privates and Publics. Some are just more blatant than others. Then you have the MASTERS of it .....................like Rankin. LOL1 point

It’s a shame more kids from Alcoa couldn’t have made the list.0 points
