  1. Leadership on the field is underrated by most but it is a must in football.

  2. Agreed the only advantage we have is extreme depth, we have 4 backs to rotate as well as ability to rotate linemen but your kids are a team off destiny to me, they play hard with a chip on there shoulder !! I tell you as a father its nice to get to watch 2 games week one with no bad actions by any team envolved which makes for something to be proud of !! GL on the season , dont think ya need luck so I will say well wishes !!

  3. You fellas team is about as balanced on offense as you will ever see in 1 or 2 A imo! Considered that we all expect a collision of Falcons and Stanks in the playoffs " we hope" your balance will be the difference maker !!! Its hard to believe" no offense" yall ever lost to CVille other than the stars aligned for them. Yall keep that play callin like ole Pride seen with his own eyes and yall will be in Cookeville !!! On a side note yall got the nicest group of folk Ive seen i a long time at a game !!!

  4. Time to renew a long standing Rivalry between the Wildcats and Indians. DB is the winningest football team in Tennessee but Oak Ridge leads in the series. To get this week off to an interesting start, I found a 7 minute YouTube video of Kingsport vs Knoxville High School from OCTOBER 26, 1945! Very very cool. I guess back in 1945 there was a Knoxville High School. The audio heard on the video is actually from a Pep Rally D-B had in the 1960's. Go to YouTube and search " 1945 Dobyns-Bennett Football. " I came across this gem while looking for a video of last week's Kingsport win over Tennessee High. Maybe a Indian fan can find a game film for us to watch. Oh, I saw a video clip of the Wildcats coming down the Steps. We are small but that just makes them UnderCats and who doesn't love cheering for an UnderCat? RWR, You Got This!

  5. Clinton's run defense is much improved, but I'm still not impressed with our pass defense and that's what CAK used to be known for. I'm picking CAK 28 - 7

  6. Yeah I definetly see us giving Beech a good game. As long as we see improvement that's all you can ask. Omaha is right we could quite possibly be the best 6-4 or 7-3 team in the state come playoff time. By the time playoffs start the freshman QB will be a lot more settled and who knows we may pull of a few wins in the playoffs. Either way its Henry County Football and it excites me regardless. These coaches will figure it out. Our coach always preaches that's why he schedules tough opponents in the non region so they can show you what you need to work on and get better at. It's absolutely true! So be it if we go 6-4 or 7-3. Haywood showed us we need pretty good work on the o-line. So let's work there and get that headed in a positive direction which I know the coaching staff will. With Counce, Jelks, and Muench I feel like by the last half of the season u wont recognize the o-line from week 1.

  7. As bad as I hate to say this but if Matt has the athletes at West View like he did at Waverly it will be a long night for the Pioneers. That’s just my opinion. If all Matt has is a really good QB and no athletes to accommodate him then GC has a chance. Like you LC fans I’m very interested in this matchup also.

  8. Barney I myself would like to know. As it sounds like OR and Clinton might be a good game this year.

  9. I agree with everything you said.

  10. The block on the QB was clean the kid led with his hands. Not gonna lie because it was the QB he should have went back in time and sent him flipping. If you don't want him getting hit take him off the punt team.

  12. We could be the best 6-4 team in the state by playoff time, and that very well could be the case. I think we win 1-3 of the non-region games though and finish 7-3. This week will be tough, but I do think we match up better with Beech and will see some improvement.

  14. I am perfectly relaxed. The O-line isn’t bad, but it is very much a work in progress.

  16. Probably the best Peabody video I’ve seen
    1 point
  17. Peabody does start a bunch both ways but we also have players that rotate at positions also. We did have 2nd string third string players in in second half and yes baugus was still running I have no idea why. The only thing I can think of is third string qb maybe wasn’t ready. The second string qb is a wr/rb. I’m guessing coach didn’t want fumbles. We were suppose to scrimmage Haywood this year. They backed out due to just getting a new coach. As far as depth Milan starts 2 players both ways and that didn’t effect the outcome. Apparently we are 35-14 better or we wouldn’t have won 35-14. I do think Milan or really good and they have a bunch of talented players. I think they weren’t prepared for what Peabody did. Milan’s coaches will get it figured out.

  18. I witnessed something intersesting friday at LC, I was comi g thru the gate as your team was coming into the endzone for the intro onto the field and they seemed very confident, not cocky, also watchimg them interact with each other was like watching our Tidemen !!! You have a group of kids that are brothers on that field and off "it shows" they care for each other and they arent playing to beat a team they are playing for community for family for all of lil ole Tiptonville and Lake county !!! Those that dont understand what I meen never will , Trenton isnt a rich area although theres some money , LC and PHS are more similar than most realize and it shows, especially a annoying fan base on the T !!!! HaHa yall know its true !!!!! In closing I will say you earned a fan in me of your program and especillay your kids amd the way they handle themselves !! All this nice stuff is true and I meen it but I still imagine LC1968 being like clint eastwood in Grand Tarino amd that scares me hahahahahahahah

  19. Not for me I fully anticipated it especially during warm up. Muskox and I watched Loudon and could tell they wanted it bad. Not that our boys didn't but there was a different intensity on their side. If you have ever played anything competitively you have had teams and games you got up for or didn't as much. I just think it was a perfect storm. We didnt execute on critical 3rd downs in the fist half. Dropped several balls that hit the hands and would have sustained the drives. Everyone knows you cant do that in competitive games and expect wins. I am 1000% confident it all will get worked out. Looking forward to the rest of the season.

  20. Unfortunately, Clinton will have a tough time scoring unless AC D is the real deal. CAK doesn’t look great either. I say 21-18 CAK

  21. Hhistory? Your not old enough to make that statement. Dexter Dodson, Landon Pickett, Cliff Picket might argue with you on that. They beat Eddie Browns team . Eddie was hands down better than anybody on last years team.

  22. If them Middle TN think that game was a big crowd.......they ain't seen nothing like an Alcoa vs Maryville game. Not even close. Blackman has very nice Stadium ,field and parking. They were a very friendly host! Had a great time!

  23. I don't think DB is much better than last years 4-6 team. Hard to judge from the TH game because the Vikings aren't very good this year. The team size and speed is pretty much average. The secondary is embarrassing, as usual. I think it'll be close and could go either way but I'd give the odds to Oak Ridge. OR - 28 DB - 17

  25. Proud of our boys for last night's effort. They did a great job defensively with the lone score coming off one missed tackle it looked like. It was a half a second from an interception, but due to the missed tackle it turned into an 83 yard pass. Other then that I thought our defense was very sound for the most part. Offensively we had a decent outing as well. At a guess we "maybe" had 250 yards rushing possibly more? Feel free to input a stat anyone who has it. Passing was just above average tonight. Sweetwater had decent coverage, but we had a few dropped passes that would have made our drives alot easier. The 4th and 1 stop on the 1 yard line to stop Sweetwater was really clutch. Followed by a 1:50 second drive for 99 yards to get a touchdown showed great intensity and effort. Qb play: wont elaborate much. He does what he does and does it well. Had a field day so to speak. A few times he was getting pressured in the backfield and was able to turn it into a large gain. Obviously demoralizing for the defense for Sweetwater but they never quit. All in all we had a good night it was good game that took alot of effort. It reminds me of our 2017 game with them mostly where we won 19-14. After that game we improved drastically over the next few weeks and had a great year. I hope for the same this year. Sweetwater has alot of athletes on the field and I expect them to have a good season. We need to improve alot this week before we face Greenback no one wants a back to back loss. We will see who wants it more. Just my thoughts.

  28. Pearl, East, Stratford, and Giles are going to have some very competitive games in Region 5-3A this season. They may all be Top 8 caliber teams in 3A football.

  29. The deep kicks as well as the two hits at the 15 on his kicks that got everyone fired up help to change the course of the game. His "short" kick went to the 17 which was normally a deep kick for us.

  30. Thanks for the info. I was in the dark about them too just like Chargerfan. Covington offence didn't look to good in the jamboree but they didn't play Mr. Marcus Hayes ( Mr. Football Finalist ) . They looked a lot better Friday night .The Defense looked good in both outings. Munford had -5 rushing yards. Hopefully it want be a tough out for the Chargers but if so it will prepare them for a tough region 7-3A

  32. This in and of itself is what changed the momentum and tempo of the game. Making Sequatchie start inside their 15 twice and at the 20 on 3 consecutive kickoffs was huge. We flipped the field on them, got a turnover, cut out the penalties and hung on to the ball.

  35. I'll go with PC, Hillsboro, EN, Stratford, CR as top 5 after week 1. PC very impressive. Hillsboro handed it to MW. EN had as good of a showing as they probably could have and just might have the best collection of athletes in metro. Stratford had a solid opening win. CR would beat all of the rest.

  36. We caught your spy Greenback folks. They fixed up like a Tiger but still smelled of a reservation so it was easy to spot. Can pick it up after the game. Fortunately no real Tigers were hurt during this excursion.

  39. Bauxite has five former head coaches on staff including former college coach Clint Conque. They were down for many years but projected to compete for a state title. I saw Covington in the jamboree. This could be a tough one for them honestly.

  40. They will be fine. Some growing pains to go through first. What everyone needs to accept is this team is not last years group. We lost a ton to graduation. Last year the younger players fed from the energy and grit our seniors had. Now we need some players step up and start creating the energy and grit. I would start with #4. He is a baller.

  43. Actually that's the TC folks who do that, presumably because SC refused to schedule them. The Gordonsville faithful refer to SC by their real name...Carthage.

  45. Please don't get on here and call out a specific kid. Regardless of what that kid did or said, it's not right to get on here and call out a specific person's mistakes. Especially when that person is a teenager. I'm sure some of them get on here and read this stuff. We've all said unkind words before. I am NOT condoning the use of foul language on the field, but when I played for McMinn in the mid-2000s, I had some nasty stuff said to me by Central players every year. It goes both ways. It's a rivalry. And when you add the fact that our facilities were vandalized this week, I'd say our kids emotions were running higher than ever last night.
