This has bothered me tonight. Apparently Greenback suffers from the same geographical problem that Meigs does, but did anyone notice any news/press crews outside of local papers? These two teams are ranked in the top 5 of their classifications, playing in an awesome environment in front of a packed house and there were zero news Crews there to report the game from Chattanooga or Knoxville? Can’t even send a cameraman to shoot a few highlights? There were plenty! Greenback has a couple players with power 5 offers, Meigs has a Mr Football winner that has committed to the naval academy, and they’re just going to be a box score. These teams have combined to go 75-9 over the past three years and all you’ll get to do is read the stat line. That’s downright sorry in my opinion. Missed a great opportunity to report on what was by far the best matchup on this side of the state, ESPECIALLY in the smaller classifications.

It's time for the Wildcats to step up and take the first region game of the season! There's no time to dwell on the past only time to prepare for the future. The time is now! RWR!

I'm looking forward to Meigs County coming to Beene Stadium. I hope between now and then we will improve ourselves so we can give everyone in attendance and those watching from afar a game such as the one I saw last night.

HC played 2 very good teams in the 1st 2 games, they may be 0-2 but they are not down... HC by at least 21

I can't believe Swafford ran it 32 times. His body won't last for college if this keeps up.

Saw Haywood in action a couple weeks back. This team is scary good. Size, Speed, and athleticism everywhere. Many of their kids looked as if they could put an SEC jersey on today and play the part. In years past, they've had teams that looked great on paper and the coaching hurt the outcome. Not, this year, their playbook and execution look on Que. This team could be the best in West TN regardless of classification. Just my opinion.

Not stirring nothing. This was explained last year. Take it how you want it. We are not the only coop school by far in metro. Y'all say pick and choose but it ain't no pick and choosing with 98% would rather be placed in a spelling b then play football. Ask me how many MLK kids play or start this year? 1 starts and he's the long snapper. He's 1 of our 4 seniors on the team. How many MLK kids on the team this year? 6-7 kids who some dont come daily. Even when mlk was cooping with hillsboro we still played up and was winning "shrugs"

I know this will stir the hornets nest, but....PC pretty much is a 6A school as far as students to pull from because they pull from multiple schools. They utilize the enrollment from PC High to classify as 3A but are able to get students from another high school with similar enrollment without a football program. JS

There were a couple missed calls on both sides tonight. But all in all it was a very entertaining game. In the end I believe the best team won. Greenback seemed to wear down a bit, especially in the trenches. Hats off to Swafford on a very good game. The kid is a hoss. Best player on the field to me moreso because I think their coach realizes this is his team and that's who leads the way. Greenback on the other hand missed several opportunities to get Willis the ball. Some drives his number was rarely called. I thought Greenback should have tried to establish some semblance of a running game even with their QB because a few times more than not he should have tucked the ball and ran. All in all a well played game. Very much worth the drive and price of admission. I wanna thank the fine folks of Decatur for hosting a great game and putting up with some of us scallywags.

Yes and I hate playing in that region . The only bright spot is playing SP in playoffs. I like that rivalry.

Watching me some exciting college football games!!!, Got on the "T" to catch up some, & enjoyed reading these recent posts & input. Great opinions & insights imo. And sadly, hanging my head, yes, DHS has sometimes had, let's say, "attitude issues" in the past. Rubbing other's nose in it when whopping them, or trying to injure opponent's players when getting thumped, and such junk... imho that can not be tolerated. Ever. EVER!... Thus we have our new coach, who does appear to be bringing the proper attitude & culture to Dresden. And yes, revenge & paybacks are a huge, monstrous motivator. No way around it. Just human nature, esp. in sports like football. So one needs to know that is coming & play above it all. Being humble in victory and hopeful in defeat is the attitude of champon-hearted programs. And what y'all been saying I agree with 110%! . ..Such as playing that down all-out then help opponent up, tap helmet or pads with perhaps saying Way To Go or Good Effort, etc, that is the ideal goal all teams should have imo as their attitude & culture. It's how winners & champs do it, right? And guess what? I think that all starts at home, around kitchen table or in living room, with dad & mom leading the way, doesn't it? And if the wrong "culture" starts infecting a team, then it's time for the community & individual families to have a check-up-from-the-neck-up, to look first in the mirror as the place to begin improvement & needed changes, and then unite in doing the right thing, owning-up to past problems & making the needed changes .. Methinks this is what Dresden has done. Getting new (& the proper kind of) leadership to help our Lions be a competitive, top-tier team with championship attitudes all around (staff, players, & fans). This wasn't done out of a whim or willy-nilly. BUT... then again... I'm just one lone guy, I'm definitely not part of any "inside the loop" or "in the know" crowd. I'm not even a local-yocal and am an import (illegal alien to some I'm sure). I definitely do not speak for others around here, right? In fact, I'm a hypocritical, noisy windbag who puts a sour taste in others mouths & minds according to some (ha, must be my love of garlic, habaneros, anchovies, oodles of beans, & Limburger cheese I often eat- and it's this combo's after-effects oozing out of my pores). So whadda I know, eh? This old hick from the sticks may be completely self-deceived & living in la-la-land. If so, let me be. Ha! I'm having myself a time & enjoying my make-believe island of looneyness. GO LIONS! #1 ALL THE WAY!

I also have to give props to the coaches. I thought the offensive playcalling was on point. That flea flicker was a thing of beauty.

Even if we lose the next 2 games I think we are better than last year.

TC isn't a young team this year mostly junior and senior starters. The OL is young but has a preseason All American center that is a 3-year starter.

Congratulations to Pearl Cohn! How long has it been since MBA started the season 0-2. Just a guess but PC is pretty good and MBA will not be a top tier D2AAA team this year.

Some of you folks are starting to get a little carried away with DB being 2-0. Remember, this is a really weak OR squad, and TH High isn't very good. Believe me when I tell you that Farragut, HVA and Bearden will all be very tough matchups.

Being 0-2 isn’t the worst thing in the world, trust me. My Bobcats started 0-2 last year and we all saw what happened. HC is fine and anyone thinking they are down and out is just foolish.

Debateable about your RB opinion, that's certain. Guess let's see everything shake out. Your opinion on SC is true. But if you think Lebanon is an easy win, Beech may very well be in for a full 4 quarter game against them in 4 more weeks. I think you have grown complacent to the 2012-2018 Gallatin. But rest assured that this isnt the same head coach Beech went 7-0 against. All previous coaches @ Gallatin, Beech had a losing record to prior to last one. So yeah, I do think Beech is going to have more than just Hillsboro to look forward to. I get they are only 2-0 so far, but Ray Charles can see the obvious change this program has seen in just a few months time. I said earlier this year I would be happy with just a couple more wins than in 2018. If they do anything more than that, they are just ahead of schedule.

Thats just their offense. They don’t feature a premier RB. At least not from what I saw last night. Everything starts and stops with Swafford. If Meigs had another threat they could’ve ran on Greenback all night. I felt like Meigs trying to throw it during 2nd quarter on a couple drives made them fizzle out then that allowed Greenback time to score before the half. This isn’t a shot at Greenback but Meigs was the better team. Greenback is a scrappy team though and their new QB Carnes makes all the difference. Give him time and he will find somebody. Kid is a player. Massive pickup for the Cherokees this offseason. Without him they would not be a threat in East imo but with him and Willis they can score with anyone if they stay healthy. Willis and Swafford are both as good as advertised with Carnes right behind them. He has a cannon and can spin it when he has time. My take away from the game is that both teams are likely semifinal teams come November with shot at representing the East. Swafford is best player in 1A & 2A and deserves to be mentioned as one of best in state. Kid is a baller. The East still goes through Greenback as long as they keep their QB healthy. Their team can’t afford injuries as they appear to have little depth. Showdown with Pirates will be a good one come November.

Yeah one game at a time, you guys always seem to have the Jimmies and the Joes, just seem to trip up at the most inopportune times, hopefully you break through this time, good luck!
