  1. Sorry, SS. My original comment was a bit tongue and cheek. Oak Ridge is still a great town/community, and I enjoy working there. While the makeup of Oak Ridge has definitely changed since the Cold War ended, the school and the football program have continued to thrive. I'm sure the team won't be down for long.

  4. Sweet said, " We ain't out. " GIJoe said, " Support the kids. " From out of the hills of Tennessee, two Wildcats ride spreading the news that the death of Oak Ridge has been greatly misrepresented. To support Sweet's quote check out the Robertsville Middle school's undefeated team. A Ram to remember is Tee Higgins' # 1 fan Casen Jenkins. Hard worker, high football IQ, tough and smart. It will be interesting to see what position his body grows into. Right now, he is a WR but I can see him getting bigger and stronger and being an impact player on both sides of the ball. To back up GIJoe's call for community support...heck...I don't need to back it up...Joe said all that needs to be said...if you are an Oak Ridger born or transplanted " SUPPORT THE KIDS. " If you are in any position to start a fire under a Wildcat player DO IT! Parents have a heart to heart / gut check with your son. Neighbors yell across the lawn or street a word of encouragement to a player. Youth coaches reach our an connect with your former players. Teachers let the players know you care. Students keep it real with your friends and tell them to step it up. WE ARE THE COMMUNITY OF OAK RIDGE! THEY MAY HATE US BUT MAKE THEM RESPECT US! A special shout out to fans from other teams who have come on Oak Ridge treads and offered well wishes. It is appreciated.

  5. Nope,we need a run game!Listened to this game on radio.com and if you get hit by linebacker every play Walter Payton couldn't run the ball.lets see what the kid can do with a little help.Right now he is carrying half the load by the stats.23 cannot carry this team alone at WR it's takes 11.Playoff time and one dimensional gets you beat.Just plain football rules!I would like to see the fullbacks get some carries to but we have to learn blocking skills first

  8. BIG is one thing, STRONG is another. Hillsboro is in the BIG category. MJ last year was in the Strong category. Picking Gallatin in this one just because I was there yesterday and got a Avalanche shaved ice I had there! Best I have ever had. Going to be a regular stop every time I am there to visit my new Grand Daughter.

  9. You said it even better.I think around those yrs around 10 and 12 was when we was playing up a class.Cant remember how long we did that.We haven't had a non talented team like this one in a really long time.Oak Ridge has made many upgrades in the program and the city as a whole. There is a lot of old folks so I only see the town getting younger in the future and even more kids to pick from.It drives me crazy when people act like Oak Ridge don't have talent anymore.Heck the basketball team was one of the best in the nation a few yrs ago and all Oak Ridgers.

  11. I can’t understand why people get worked up over a poll that has absolutely no bearing on playoff seeding or deciding a champion. It’d be different if it did, but it doesn’t, so why worry about it? As far as 0-2 HC goes, they lost to #1 Haywood & #2 Beech. And beat Beech everywhere but the scoreboard. If Beech is #2, then there’s no way HC shouldn’t be ranked.

  12. Heritage has the right man heading the ship and off to good start with momentum although Springfield is better than their first 2 opponents I am going to be positive and say Heritage pulls it out by a touchdown.

  13. Thanks for the good words. Covington lost a lot to graduation, including QB Brock Lomax, who had been our starter for 4 years. That's a lot to replace. We also lost Coach Marty Wheeler when he went to Cleveland, TN. Coach J. R. Kirby moved up to head coach and has us playing pretty well. I'm not sure where we stack up this year, but I have been pleasantly surprised so far. Our defense is playing at a championship level so far. We shut out 4A Crockett County in the Jamboree and also 5A Munford in game 1. Munford's only first down was by a penalty when we jumped offside. Game 2 opponent, Bauxite, AR scored 12 points, but we gave them a TD and a field goal by turnovers close to our own goal. Our offense scored 35 and 37 in games 1 and 2 so we are getting on the scoreboard. Who knows how we compare with Pearl Cohn or any other 3A team at this point. The polls just represent opinions of a few people. That's what I love about high school football. Everything is decided on the field via the playoffs. We are in a tough region (7-3A) with Milan, South Gibson, and McNairy County. In addition, Martin Westview has a young hotshot QB and is apparently lighting up the scoreboard this year. I believe that whoever comes out of this region will make some noise in the playoffs. I hope it is Covington, but there are 8 more games before that is decided.

  15. It's very hard to overcome a bad line. TC has the same problem about 3-4 years ago when last year seniors where freshmen and they started on the Offensive line. You can have D-1 talent at all the skill positions but if your line play is bad it doesn't matter on both sides of the ball, for example, UT last Saturday was a great example of this.

  16. Since it's not the 80's anymore the HC should resign. Allow the OC and DC to be co-head coaches. Make all players play another sport and stop the stupid play football only way of looking at things. The team's conditioning is from the 80's and leadership from AD and HC are that old too. There are great coaches on staff being held back by the 80's. Sorry, I've been away for so long.

  17. Cant go 2 yet. Lots of respect for what you've done so far this season, but until Covington loses or you beat them, they've earned the right to be at #2. Covington's only 2 losses in their last 29 games have been to Alcoa in the state championship. And the last time Covgtn. and PC met on the field Cov. beat you guys at home and had to come back to do it. They've earned that spot for the time being. Next week? Next Month? who knows. But until they lose....

  21. South Pittsburg is supposed to be really good. If they were able to go to to toe with them I wouldn't underestimate them. South Pitt folks came to Meigs game against Greenback and after the game it was stated by Southtowner they could play with either of us I believe it was he that stated it. Maybe Were over rated but then again you may be over looking your chance at home field in the playoffs.

  22. H20 Has to come out with a sense of Urgency. Stupid Mistakes, Turnovers and penalties have killed them all season long. TC Will capitalize on those and H2O has no room for error. H20 has has 0 run game this season, Oline play has been horrible... Carey has to get some room, and if history of last year vs TC, it'll be hard to come by...

  23. If you were the HC at ORHS what would you do? For me, the O: OC needs to be relegated to running practice, that's it. The Freshmen HC takes over play calling. He was the guy who took the now JR class to an undefeated season. Simple stuff. Current OC is in over his head (again). O Line coach - needs adjustments in a big way. Start with learning the plays. WR coach - moved to a new position, waterboy? Consider using a TE Ditch the WRs who dont want to play or dont know the playbook. Simple The D: D Line needs a makeover, moved 42 back to DL. Romano back to LB. Consider using 66 Zone is where it's at Special Teams Replace the holder....no PATs or FGs on the season...do the math Move starters to KO team Last but not least - Move the performers to both sides of the ball. #44 never sees offense...figure it out...RB, TE...who cares...get him involved. #42 should be playing TE....all day. #23 should be a slot WR. #15 needs to replace #2 as starter....should have happened 2nd offensive snap of season. #66 and #72 should be playing D Line....in a big way.

  27. Makes some sense but Powell has a lot of weapons. Not just one. If you can hang on defensively then Fulton will need to adds some points. Powell has beaten two of the best teams back to back in 4A and that says a lot especially when Greenevilles team last year could have beaten many 5A playoff teams and some 6A.

  30. Y’all are right with the comparison of OR and UT. We haven’t quite slipped to that level of suck yet, thank God. Saturday was one of the most epic suck jobs of a football team that I’ve seen in my 40 some odd years watching the sport. Blatantly awful.

  31. Yeah, I believe 86 was the year we went 4-6, not 3-7 as I said before. Either way it was an awful year by our standards. Yeah, Stevens inherited a team his first year that (no offense) you or I could’ve taken to the state championship in 2005. That team was loaded, stacked, whatever you wanna call it. His other only decent season was I think in 07 when we went 8-3?? Just ask anybody from Middle TN on here that knows anything about football. He’s not a very good coach, to put it mildly. Great guy I’m sure, but very mediocre football coach.

  32. Well said. People are going a bit overboard with the whole Oak Ridge doesn’t have good teams anymore shenanigans. We have had plenty of quality teams since the end of the Cold War, that’s just silly. In the 90s we had Riverdale to contend with. Those same teams would still probably be winning titles if they were playing today. That’s how good they were. Before 2013 we had to contend with Maryville. We gave Maryville all they wanted in 10 & 12 and gave them a few tough games in the regular season from 09-12 too. Who else beat Maryville during that time? Yeah, not many. We lost to freaking Karns in 1986 and went I think 3-7 and everyone thought that was the end. We had a few awful years in the Stevens era and everyone thought that was the end, but nope, we always get back on the winning path eventually. Oak Ridge is far from done. We still have quite a bit of talent and credit to us, 98% of the kids are born and raised here, so you’re gonna have down periods every now and again in a smaller town like here, along with there not being very many younger kids as a whole in OR. It’s mainly an old folks town for the most part. We may be down for now, but we ain’t out.

  34. Turtle is correct that the Webb game was indeed a defensive battle. It was a very ugly game. Neither offense could get much going. There were a lot of penalties on both teams. The only TD was scored by A-E and it was called back on a penalty. I don't know what happened with us last week, BUT we will be alright! Go Roadrunners!!!

  36. Pure BS and not funny, either. Look - every school in Knox County has out of zone students playing football and other sports. It's been done for years and every danged school in the county has played the game. Legal transfers are not that difficult to get in Knox County and as long as one starts as a freshman at a school there are no eligibility issues with an out of zone student playing sports. Some schools in past years have played the game more/better than others. Now some new players have entered the game. But they are all still playing it.
