  4. How is he beating his chest? I believe he is one of the most unbiased posters on this board, unlike many. Sure he is all wave, but post significant post not just post seen through green wave glasses. Keep posting all you Wave fans on this site. A change at the top of the program has brought a lot of tradition and pride back to life in Gallatin and I for one am completely on board and bought in. GREEN WAVE PRIDE FOREVER

  5. I can definitely relate to this post vandy. I am more positive about our team right now than I've been since Stroup left, but that doesn't change the fact that we're not ready to compete with good teams yet. I think that our timeline is two years out before we can challenge anybody relevant, but in my estimation y'all are closer than that. Between where we were and where we are now, we threw two years in the trash, and a lot of kids aren't playing now for that reason... I think that Waverly went straight from "the man" to the "next man". The Tigers graduated a great class, and was going to have to re engineer their team even if McConnell had stayed. Changing coaches also has that effect on a team regardless of talent returning, and you had both things happen at once. Now for the good... Talent level and depth are still there, and though it's different, you know the coaching is there as well. All the Tigers need is time to gel from good players with a good coach into a team that believes in themselves and their coaching... won't be two years.

  6. Yep! Just what the defense has give up Dyer had 7 against our starters, Beech had 17, Haywood had 24

  7. I think Barney is right on this one. Our county commission has been taken over by a several individuals that live and breathe to beat up and chastise our county school system. I feel for each of these departments every time they must face the commission. The CCs use inflammatory terms and always imply good ole boy deals. A couple can get away with this as their district consists of mostly City residents and they enjoy no accountability for what they challenge and or deny to county students. These are 40-year old facilities that have been neglected over time, not by school maintenance, but ostrich headed county taxpayers and previous commissioners that kicked the proverbial can down the road or did not properly fund and forced selection of band-aid fixes. Future elections must be used to vote these guys out and replace them with candidates that understand education.

  8. I can agree with that. I stay on coach T and I just don’t want to rev us up to be something we are not at this point. I think I’m coming off the wrong way to some people. I travel all over the state to watch high school football. I have seen what we would be up against and we are nowhere near ready for some of the teams out there. I’m just trying to state the facts not sugar coating anything. I have backed this team since I been on here. I think I was the only one posting for Waverly in 2015. Regardless how the season ends I will be proud of my team.

  10. Amazing what happens with a competent coaching staff. If you don't think Gallatin is for real now, I can't help you

  11. Brentwood is indeed very tough, possibly a top 5 team in 6A this year. HC definitely has their work cut out for them, but we schedule these games for a reason. I hear Brentwood is a good passing team. Could present some new and different challenges for our defense. I will say 28-20 Brentwood, and that’s factoring home field into the equation. I initially had 35-20 typed out. We have outperformed my predictions each of the last two weeks and I am hopeful that trend continues.

  16. In theory it sounds good but in real life you combine Heritage's 41 varsity players with William Blount's 47 and I will bet you only 52 come out for football because of the distance of travel and other reasons. They also just spent a ton of money updating both stadiums, scoreboards and parking lots which would be a waste. You then still have to decide to used the schools locker room that has no air or the one that smells like a sewer. Fix the problem for ! Mil or pass the buck and let Ogle, Elrod and Baril skin the county's butt for a couple of Mil when a couple of kids get sick.

  17. I agree 100%...but there may be a cheaper way to handle the ship jumping...the city schools quit wasting so many resources on athletics. It is kind of ridiculous when you count all the facilities and paid positions in order to have coaches. It is a minority of the student body. Next thing you know, the tix prices will go up! Now since that ain’t gonna happen, I suggest the county schools fold (or combine between schools) some of their athletic programs. That would make more people happy than it would pi$$ off. They could somehow incorporate the transfer portal.

  18. Back to the original thread. I think H.V. takes this one. May have a little letdown after beating hampton but think they still take this one . A whole thread out there for Cloudland and Hampton.

  19. Funny, no dog in this hunt, just enjoy the game. However, agree w you on this point. Almost saw a TC fight unfold on here I think earlier. TC has nothing to be down about, second game for them. Everybody knows they will compete.

  23. If you’re on here talking about how your kid needs to get the ball more you’re a joke. Let the coaches do their thing. There’s a reason we’re 33-7 in the past 3 years and it’s not because of you.

  24. I absolutely love the coaches in the stands that have only coached Jr pro. The coaches coach and the fans coach hahaha. That's why I don't sit in the stands to many idiots that don't really know jack squat about the game hahaha.

  31. No reason at all. And before anyone tries to insinuate otherwise, the BA loss to McCallie, does not, in any way, shape, form, or fashion, reduce the expectency, of this game. I don't want to read that garbage. Anyway ... BGIM 3. I gotta go grade papers. brb.

  32. It was a very sloppy game on the Bruins part. Turnovers definitely kept the Lions in the ball game. I would like you to elaborate on your statement. "With that being said, some of the in-game shenanigans and some of the postgame shenanigans we're completely uncalled for." I attended and watched the entire game. I saw nothing during the game or after that would warrant that statement. After the game, our student section was running the circle of the track and a coach/teacher caught them and told them to go back to our side. That is the only thing that happen if you call that "postgame shenanigans." It was a rivalry game and I don't think there was one personal foul. Not sure what you could be talking about during the game.

  34. Can't wait till next Friday. I've had this game on my radar for abt 9 months now. It's back near the top and easy to find so no reason for the Haven/NLR board to get hijacked again.

  35. I just want to give a brief shout out to my son. He is a sophomore and doesn't get to play much but he is on Special Teams. Mainly Kick Off and the Return Team. His number is 73. Tonight at the end of the game he was out there on the Onside kick and was the guy who dislodged the ball from the Frontline reciever which we recovered and set up the tying Touchdown. It was a game changer. Very proud of him.

  37. Great game both teams played hard and are better than some give credit for. That was an awesome football game. Both teams played hard to the end.

  38. So we haven't had the right horses in the stable for like 30 years? And what technique are they using to let receivers get 10 yards behind your entire secondary on half the routs they run? I'm telling you, without that line getting all that pressure on the QB DB wouldn't be undefeated right now.

  39. Well done, OR. Nice to see you guys bounce back.

  41. Yes, I’m absolutely positively sure. OR is nowhere near as big as a school as it once was. When I was there in the middle 90s we had approximately 1650 students there. It’s gotten down into the low 1300s the past 10 years and that’s including freshmen in there too. Freshmen didn’t start being included until around ‘97.

  42. What would make them relevant? Going to the 3rd round of the playoffs and losing to a team with 10 future d1 players? Last I checked do fans congregate in the pressbox and dressing room?

  43. I get that there is very little that can be done about the existing real estate, which is certainly outdated, or the bulk of the land that the Dept of Energy owns. Personally, I would love to see DOE release the land surrounding Clark Center Park to the city for residential development (along the river, south of Bethel Valley Road). West Oak Ridge has been eyeballed for quite some time, but the city has continuously balked at installing the infrastructure needed to support any real estate development on that side of Oak Ridge. The two most recent residential developments in Oak Ridge (The Crossroads at Wolf Creek and The Preserve) are priced at or above comps in places like Farragut/Concord and Hardin Valley, and that is absolutely insane, especially if you are trying to attract young families.

  44. I can't remember an OR team with this small amount of talent and speed. Heck, Campbell County, a team with very little speed year in and year out, might be as fast as OR is and way bigger. The problem is that OR is small AND slow. That isn't good at all. The last few years they've been small but they had Graham, Pendergrass, Booker, Calan, Mithchell and a few more. I think the OR vs CC game is a tossup and since it's played at CC, I would install CC as a 3 point favorite because of their speed advantage (I can't believe that I said that). I sure hope the Cats are healthy.
