  1. This was a surprise. Goes to show you, never count anyone out because of a loss. When I played we lost first two games only to win the next nine and lost in the final four in two overtimes only to watch the team that beat us win the state the very next week with no problems at all. I'm curious about the S-D QB, is he out for the season or will he be back?

  2. Finally made it to the barn! My take on the game? It was greenback / Oneida. After several lopsided and frankly embarrassing losses to GB in recent years we finally had a more "traditional" meeting again. Greenback is a very good team, their run game took a step this week. They ran pretty well I feel. They weren't a meat grinder but they're not built to be. They certainly ran effectively enough to extend drives and to supplement a very potent pass game. Yes they left a certain TD on the field but fumbles happen, part of the game. Great stand to keep points off the board after that. We defended their pass a lot better than I expected. Did we shut it down? Nope, not even close but we limited splash plays to 3 maybe 4 truly big splash plays if I remember correctly. Let's face it, an athlete such as Willis is gonna get loose regardless of your plan. Players make plays and he certainly did. Very talented kid and was fun to watch in space! I don't have a clue about stats really but I felt like we limited him as best we could have. We couldn't cover him but I think our scheme disrupted the pass game just enough to decrease the effectiveness from what I expected to see. They won the turnovers lost battle 3-1 I believe, if I'm wrong someone will certainly correct me. We passed quite a but better than I expected, that was nice to see. We weren't able to run as effectively as I expected until we went with a different approach but it wasn't a viable option anymore as the game drew to a close. Great game and had a blast with the GB crew as always. Thanks for the hospitality guys, the burger was great at the corner market, highly recommend stopping in if you're in the area. Ready for next year's match up already

  5. Not just backfield, crowded skill positions period. We have a bunch of skill guys that have played a lot of snaps for us. Z has a chance to be a very good player, and will more than likely start for us somewhere next year as a sophomore. #3 gets overlooked sometimes with 5, 8, 1, etc, but I think he is very talented. He will likely be our feature guy at either RB or receiver next year. Great player. The freshman QB thing is just a different animal. From what I’ve been told, he was just so far ahead of the other guys from the start, that they basically had no choice but to start him. Throwing, footwork, the mental side, he’s just on a different level. There’s no telling how good that kid will be by the time he’s done here. Going to be so fun to watch them all!

  6. MSU. I repeat what I previously said above. They won’t lose another regular season game. Talent and coaching are too good!!!

  7. That may have been the most sound defensive game I've seen. Everyone was in proper position all night.

  8. Lots of respect for Scott’s Hill and tradertwo. Not sure how good The Hill is, but nobody knows them better than trader. I hope Waverly continues to grow. I feel like they have bought into Boldin’s scheme and I really like the intensity and heart that they have displayed the last 2 games. I feel like Waverly will only continue to get better. The run offense is beast mode and are firing on all cylinders. The passing game is improving and surprisingly enough to keep teams honest. Stanfield will only continue to get better at developing into the QB role. I enjoyed seeing Gavin Stanfield on the sidelines working with Graham during the half on technique. The defense continues to grow and the run defense is pretty solid. The pass defense still is making a lot of mistakes but has gotten better and will continue to improve. I enjoyed how multiple players on offense are contributing. I noticed some of the newer players finally getting some good minutes. I think as they continue to learn that they will be able to contribute more. The special teams are doing a good job also. Over all I am impressed with what Boldin has done over the last few weeks and I feel like we will continue to get better each week. Only improvements I see we really need to get cleaned up is the pass defense, of course the passing game needs to improve, and penalties that continue to shoot us in the foot.

  11. DeKalb doesn't have anyone the team as good as 3,4,7,9. Yes we still hang 42 on you if 4 is not playing.

  12. Rewatched our game, Will Meadows had a breakout game imo. It's the best game I think hes had so far considering the competition.

  13. Not sure why they call this the "Battle of the Bell" but it should be renamed "The Dollar General Bowl" since the shelf of players is always empty and very few selections to pick from.

  14. You are right about some things and wrong about others. Alcoa is not overrated. Anybody with half a brain would no better. "Way Overrated"? I think you're confusing unfaithful fans with cautious fans. You don't become a "powerhouse" just coming off a losing season and winning your first three games over so-so or worse teams. I don't think you can compare them to any Maryville team until they actually win a state championship. Which is what you have to do to be compared to Maryville. Now I do think this team is playing well and playing as a unit. I've posted on here two weeks ago that I think this is the best DB team since 2012. The line on both sides of the ball have dominated so far, the backfield has been great and the linebackers are playing well. Special teams have been closer to special than they have been in years. The coaching staff has done a great job turning it around. A lot of people didn't know if Christian would make it as a head coach but looks like he is proving he's a good choice. The biggest plus is he doesn't run scared in the second half of games like that other guy did. The bad. It's a DB trademark to make a lot of mistakes and have a really bad secondary. It's been that way for 30 years. These are two areas that go back to bad coaching in the pee-wee and middle school leagues. I'll give Christian credit for bringing in new blood to coach the secondary but so far I can't see any progress in coverage or in mistakes made on the field. In defense of the coaches you can't turn that around in the amount of time they've had. And it probably won't happen this season. When DB runs into a team with a good QB and offensive line they'll be in trouble. That's not me being unfaithful and unknowing, that's me being cautious and a realist. I'm probably a bigger fan than you, just not a sunshine pumper.

  15. Don’t even entertain this clown. Just read his post. He’s a upset parent clearly and he’s got those Dekalb goggles on. This game was not close at all. And to say that Dekalb had the best defensive player on the field is ABSOLUTELY CRAZY! LB Jordan Carter was the best defensive player on the field last night. Wasn’t even close. But to the Watertown fans let’s move on. Put this to bed. Next up Cascade

  19. Awesome win for the Tigers. Congratulations. You guys look about like what I expected you to before the season started to be honest. That senior leadership and experience upfront is what its all about and was the difference. Enough can't be said about that in my opinion. You guys won up there and outmatched us pure and simple. Both sides of the ball. We had enough athletes to hang with you is really the bottom line of this game. Waverly completley controlled the line of scrimmage and I'll add were more fundamentally sound. I saw some great down field blocking from kids absolutely laying the wood. Fairview has some soul searching to do. Sycamore, Stewart County and especially Camden are all going to be big and strong upfront as well. I guess if we keep trying to tackle with our hands in our pockets it wont matter anyway. Congrats again Tigers. I tip my cap. I know this is a big win for you guys right now. You guys are going to be fine. Good luck from here on out.

  20. Big Game Alert...Friday night, Oak Ridge plays host to the West Rebels. West comes into the game 4 - 0, ranked # 4 in the 5StarPreps Poll. Victories over Bearden ( 34 - 31), Farragut ( 24 - 13 ), Karns ( 45 - 0 ) and Jefferson County ( 49 - 22 ) highlight the season to date. Oak Ridge is going through a Renaissance of sorts after starting the season 0 - 2 and the Wildcat fans very concerned. Victories over Campbell County and Farragut has settled the restless fans to some degree. This rebirth has Oak Ridge;back into the 5StarPreps at # 14. i , for one have nothing but respect for these Wildcats. Why this game is important? Region 3-5A games are priceless. This is the toughest Region in the state and once you get into the playoffs things do not get easier. Let the discussion start...Oak Ridge, You GOT THIS!

  27. True. I think he could be used in much the same role as Travis is being used this year. I'd honestly forgotten he was only a junior until I looked at my program last night. Between he, Odoms, Johnson, the two TE/FB's (#87 and #47), and even #15 Perry whom I expect to keep improving, there will be no shortage of experienced weapons next year. Adding Z. Kendall to that mix is gravy.

  31. A little. You'd expect a little in an emotion-filled game like this. The coaches and refs did a good job of keeping the emotions in check.

  32. It was a good game. Tough gritty football in the trenches. I'll say this one time and not offend anyone. I do feel FV was out coached tonight. Waverly's game plan was spot on. They keyed on our typical guys and we played a typical game. We did manage to find some strength in our passing game, but quickly went away from it. From what I am hearing, FV is down some kids after this game.

  41. You must be the parent that taught one of the many York players that was twisting GCA players ankles and legs after every play in the 2nd half, if they could get us on the ground. That was an incredibly embarrassing and dirty game played by York. Yes, we got a couple unsportsmanlike penalties when our players tried to prevent York from tearing the ACL of our ball carriers. You don’t know me, but I’ll give you the short version. If our school or kids are acting like punks, I call them out. Always have, always will. If I need to go on and give you specific plays, time on the clock, down and distance, you let me know. I was on the sideline and saw every minute of it. You sound like a sore loser, tuck your tail and the lies you’re spewing and move on.

  42. I thought the whole defensive front showed up tonight. #7 #50 #53 #52 #17 and the LB, #15 #2 #23-SS also played well. You don't shut down that type of offense without good play from the front 7 or 8.
