  2. Our kids will come in and give it everything they have on Friday. Win or lose we will shake hands after the game and know that the kids layed it all on the line for our team. That’s just the only way we know how to do things here. Also prayers today for my buddy Pirate Mike. I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving with family!

  4. We are the luckiest Football fans in the State of Tennessee. I realize that part of being a college and Professional Football fan is getting to ###### and moan about every player , coach , or owner ... some take the bitching nearly to a professional level ... High School football is totally different ... these kids for the most part aren't getting nothing but sweat to play on a football team ... now just think about the success that Maryville has had ... let's just talk about 6A ... the last 10 years ... Maryville has 5 of the 10 State Championships ... What would Tn Fans feel like if TN Averaged a Championship every other year ? Now what would most TN fans feel about another fan who tried their best to find something to ###### about ?? Throw in another 12 Championships on top of those 5 ... and anyone is unhappy right now that we're sitting at 13-0 ?? ... and the only close game we've had all year is a 17-3 win over Alcoa without Tee Hodge playing a down ? Even if we lose Friday night , and Oakland proves to be too tough , I consider it an honor to have watched these young men come together like they have this year . I'm just like most Fans here on the T , played a little , wasn't even very good , but I loved being on Maryville high school's Football team .... I've watched a Lot of Football my whole life ... consider myself a pretty knowledgeable Football fan ... but I've had the Privilege of sitting beside some Football Coaches from the High School , Junior College , and D-1 College Football level ... who do it for their Profession . When you realize how much thought , and analyzing goes into everything they do ... Plus when you hear someone like that seeing everything on the field at a Glance ... well all I can say is ... I trust our Coaches here at Maryville ... I know if I've noticed something ... they noticed it and have been working on it long before I would have . All high School teams make mistakes ... anyone who doesn't think some of Quarles teams didn't , needs to go back and watch the Film .

  12. I'm sorry the Rebels disappointed you ... This reminds me of something an Old Coach told me a long , long time ago . Whenever you talk down your opponent , all you're doing is talking yourself down ... and diminishing your own accomplishments . So , applying that saying to you .... so were you not impressed that it took Maryville till the 4th qtr to get a running clock on your team ? Were you thinking it should have been running the whole second half ? You do know that it was mostly second and third stringers in most of the second half for Maryville , so I guess my question is , man , do you really think that bad about your team ? Maryville came to your field , and put a running clock on DB ... last year Maryville had a running clock put on them by Oakland on their field ... I thought that was impressive as heck , but that would have been a lot more impressive if it had been at Maryville . Maybe next time we won't disappoint you so much

  14. I have no dog in this fight, this is just my worthless two cents. The General's "TSSAA corruption" thread brought me here. The official pictured is operating the clock and has no business being responsible for a spot. The official on the 13 yard line coming in is responsible for the spot up until the 2 yard line where the deep official has the spot from the 2 to the goal line. Spotting the ball is an inexact(guess) science. If you watch games on Saturday and Sundays do you ever wonder why the ball is located on a yard line every time..... The blindside block is absolutely correct. Some have said that those calls should not be made in that kind of game. Safety calls (blindside block, facemask, horse collar, targeting) should be made every time every game. Game fairness calls (holding, pass interference) are the calls where it depends on where the foul occurred and the status of the game. However, the foul should have been penalized by post scrimmage kick rules. The only possession requirement is that the receiving team is the next team to put the ball in play. Since the ball was never touched possession automatically goes to the receiving team. Also, all officials are independent contractors, not employees of the TSSAA. The TSSAA has no power in the selection or training of officials. It is up to the independent associations for training and selection. During the playoffs, each association trades officiating crews to ensure the appearance of independence. More than likely, this was the first time this group had ever been to Forrest. MOST officials have no agenda, it is a tough job with a touch of incompetence all the way from the junior pro level to the NFL level.

  16. I don’t know for sure who the Oompa Loompa or VP reference is for but I will say this... this is one of the best MARYVILLE teams that I’ve seen in 15 yrs. No they aren’t professionals and they do make mistakes form time to time but what they don’t do is dwell on them like some on here do. I’ll probably take offense to those comments as I do have 2 kids on the team ( neither are starters) but yes I do support these coaches and these kids and have been recently accused of worshipping them like gods lol but no it’s just called supporting the program for the sake of the program and not airing dirty laundry or other BS and I’m didn’t even go to MARYVILLE. Truth is these 2 teams are 2 of the best in the state and we should all be proud of them. Sometimes people just can’t get over getting their butt hurt and it does change the way they view things. Yes we have made mistakes but we ride into this game with a 13-0 record just the same. Seems like maybe our inferior team may have learned something from those mistakes. Oompa Loompas and all

  18. I like it. There is one tune they play that really gets the players going. Matter of fact, my favorite and from what I’m told, the kids favorite is the one they play through the plays. I will say this..... the kids in the band are great and the student section is great. They really add to the whole atmosphere. It’s going to be electric Friday night.

  19. That's an unfortunate choice of words, Barn. Please realize that what you say and think is not really that important in the whole scheme of things. I realize you think so....but its really not. The same is true for me and the rest of us fans. I have to bale out of this thread since I have been banned from the T for a couple of years, but I promise if that kicking game is not straighten out, or if there is one single dumb play or turnover for the remainder of the year somebody will be grounded and their phone will be confiscated until Spring practice begins.

  22. Just curious, what are these advantages? Can kids not transfer into other 1A schools if they want to? Most schools in TN are open enrollment. Greenback has the restriction the you must live in Loudon county. If that restriction ever gets lifted, GB will go on a historic run in 1A. They would get a minimum of 10 transfers every year from south Blount County. Half of which would begin school in GB their freshman year so they wouldn't have to sit a year. You would be looking at about 50 additional football players on a 1A team. With that coaching staff and that community support, many kids that would start at local 6A schools will be happy to wear the orange and black. I know of at least 5 starters at another 6A school that want to transfer to GB but their families are either unwilling or unable to relocate to Loudon county.

  24. Powerp I've watched both teams and we are going to have to play a perfect game to beat you all.you all have the upper hand on defense and the running game and in my opinion that's what makes championship teams. I just don't think our line will keep your guys off our quarterback they've been inconsistent for most of the year when they play well they play dang well. I just really didn't like what I saw it against Oliver Springs they brought us a very physical football game and our kids didn't react the way I thought they would, actually quite dissapointed in the way we handled ourselves. If that stuff starts Friday night we'll get run off the field.

  27. Well if we do that will make our record on the carpet 21-2. I’ll take that anyday. But your boys...how’s it gonna feel to be put out in the semis for the 3rd year in a row if you lose on the carpet? That’s gonna leave a mark.

  28. I never was much good at the numbers as Stars and Barn handle all the calculations in murvil. Hopefully, the stands will be generally full, and it will be about 3-4 rows deep around the field. Just like the old Alcoa games prior to TV games, streamed games, and $7 tix. We don't have a track around the field so it feels perfect when the fans are right on top of the action. Lets hope for gooder weather.

  33. The only thing I don’t agree with is the academic part and weight room. My son is in their everyday. Started Monday after they got beat. Elizabethton would be no better for him academically. County kids do what’s best for them. My son grew up playing with Cade. I will always hope the best for the Russell’s. Great family.

  35. I'm not bashing Cloudland or any players at Cloudland I use to be one of them. If Corey stays at Cloudland he doesn't become near the player he is now. The kids at betsy are learning the game at a whole different level than the kids at Cloudland more competition more resources etc. Also why would you want to use a kid like him to play teams like Hancock Unaka and Jellico. Even if he does stay and is lucky enough to win a 1a ring you still go into college behind imo because Cloudland isn't in the weight room before they're first class through the year or near as much in the off season or near the camps passing league etc. Besides all that the main reason he came to Betsy was academics and baseball. That's straight from the horses mouth. He's my nephew.

  38. William Blount is a 6A school that shares a zoning border with GB. Some kids zoned for WB actually have a GB address. Why are kids not transferring to WB? Instead you have WB kids begging their parents to move their families so they can attend GB. If that were true than Johnson City would have all the championships instead of Maryville 6A and Alcoa 3A. Alcoa has won 12 of the last 15 state championships, Maryville has had a historic run in 6A, missing maybe two state championship games in 18 years. Yet Blount county doesn't have the population or big schools of Kingsport, Nashville, Memphis or Knoxville. So you argument is invalid. Maybe Blount County ( which in this discussion includes GB), simply has better athletes, better coaching and/ or harder working kids ? While that statement may be subjective and open to debate, the argument that its because of being around a bunch of big schools can not be valid based on the success of Maryville/Alcoa over all of the other schools in the larger metro areas.
