  1. There are many small complexities to every game, but to simplify it, USJ missed the long ball by a foot or two when going over the top on multiple occasions (that they usually hit), and the DA back popped too many long runs. There was a huge hole on the 1'st play for him to run through... looked (in person) like USJ had players in position to make the play on the rest of the big gains, just couldn't finish after first contact. Most glaring deficiency that sealed the Bruins' fate... two possessions inside the Bears' 10, and zero points. Bottom line is, DA's line controlled the game, and the team that does that almost never loses. Just got home and started the video of the game, but I doubt that I see much from the video that changes my way of thinking. Congrats to both teams. It was a hard fought game for the championship, and I thought that both teams played well... I also thought that the ref's called a pretty decent game, the better team today won, and everyone finished standing up... can't ask for more than that.

  5. Good luck to both Teams should be a Great Game. Elizabethton has a really good team . I think they being undefeated and playing the schedule they have will help them. But they haven't been away from the friendly confines in a long time. It being their first time going could be a disadvantage I just don't know. You never know how a team will react to the brightest of lights when it shines on them. I know the first time Greeneville went they made more mistakes in that game than in the other 4 Trip's combined. But elizabethton is coached very well and they have played with poise all year long. So I don't think it will bother them. Springfield is a very solid football team. They will play hard and they do have a good Defense. So really anything could happen. LoL I'm not going to pretend I know who will win this game. But I do see Elizabethton as the favorite going in. Which I'm sure Springfield could care less about lol. I will tell elizabethton one thing if you guy's go down early and tailgate or anything you will enjoy the company of the Springfield Fans they were great people when we went and played them a couple year's ago. Good luck to Both Teams hoping for a great injury Free Game

I’m sure there will be some more stuff we won’t agree on, but y’all are some pretty cool cats. You idgits have made me go spend $10.95 to watch this mess tomorrow, so make it worth it. Don’t let the boys sneak in the donkeys shine tonight. I’m ALL IN on y’all bringing home a gold ball. Good luck from your biggest Mustang fan.

  14. For all the recruiting rumors, which is silly to even bring up when the kids have been in the system since middle school. Parents have the right to put their kids in good situations or environments. Three different coaches in two years is not a stable environment for players. Not saying anything bad about the people or kids but that’s tough on a program. When the county has a coach that jumps from one school to another and coaches at three different schools in one year, shows no stability. I also have a nephew at one of those county schools and from the sounds of his stories, the kids don’t enjoy playing for their coach. This is why my kids go to Elizabethton. They weren’t recruited but it was an easy answer to my question, who do I want coaching my kids? So stop blaming Elizabethton for your losses and start looking in the mirror! I will say I have heard of some great teachers in the county and some good coaches, like the HV coach Jarrett, I’ve heard good things about him. I’m still happy with the choice we made. With that said, I think both teams are phenomenal and it will be a close game! Cyclones 27 Springfield 21

  16. Court is adjourned. I rewatched the GB vs SP game. Willis was held a lot. SP equally as guilty as GB on pass interference. Sorry for suggesting that the game was unfairly officiated. It was indeed poorly officiated, but not unfair to either team.

  18. Winning nothing a couple years is fine if it builds a team up to win it all in the long run. See these Seniors coming up next year have been to the State game, 4th round, and are very hungry to get back to the Ship. Your team just cant seem to get past the 3rd round and will never experience it as long as TC is in the same classification! I know it's a hard thing to understand, but one day you will.

  19. Don't use Forrest's record to try to add credibility to your weak schedule. Only team in the final top 11 you faced all year (Fairley) took you to the limit and beyond. For the 5th time, your coaches scheduled the 45th easiest schedule out of 47 2A teams listed in the end of season SOS poll. 4 playoff games managed to pull it up to 37th toughest. Meigs played the 11th toughest according to the same SOS poll. In 2 seasons your best wins are to that Fairley team and a Trousdale County team with a QB with one arm and one leg. Both games came down to the final play. You have built an amazing two year record on a regular season filled with cupcakes.

  20. Mostly smack talk because of the oneida jab from earlier and just wanting to mix it up really. Like I said earlier didn't know much about LC until the last day or so. I will say the QB is a load and the RB is very quick. Honestly, and this is not meant to be a slight at all, it would be close. I don't know exactly where each would rank but you, upperman and meigs run virtually the same offense. All 3 have an extremely talented running QB and a very quick back. All 3 QB'S are fast and big. From what I've saw all 3 can pass but that nod would have to go to the Upperman QB, he's a good one. Really you 3 are nearly exact copies of each other. GB is a totally different style in their passing game. They're just hard to defend. So even IF it were 4th it's really like a 3 or 4 way tie honestly. I know you don't know me but if you knew how much I thought of those other offenses then you'd realize that's actually a compliment. I think we have played 3 or 4 outstanding offenses this season, I think yours would be right there in the mix with them. No smack talk, just being honest there.

  28. I wonder if the teachers understand not everything in life is either fair or PC? Once they learn that cold hard truth they may understand life a little better. Bounder, Merry Christmas Brother. At least we can still say that to one another. Some of the PC crowd around here may get told where they can stick their PC Happy Holidays as some of us still remember what the actual 'Holiday' is for!

  29. Team sports are an interesting thing. Thru the years of being married "20" to be exact my spouse has always been a uber competitive person, in all walks ,even at church " lord bless him" But something he said to me as we was squished up against a trash can at the semi final game shocked me !! He and I quote says , Ya know every aspect of tonight doesnt happen unless the team shows up to win, the fans show up to cheer , the band shows up to play , the cheerleaders show up and cheer ! So I asked him why??? What does that habe to do with a game of football... Its at that point I realized how much he loves our school our town he loomed me dead in the eyes and said this is trentons band trentons team trentons cheerleaders and we are family ! I get it . I see this is small town USA and we are blessed !! You can love or hate my hubby but I understood him better that moment than I ever have. Amd heres a pic of part of the Trenton Family

  30. To me the biggest reason Giles needs out is because all the other teams in Region 5 are 70 miles away in Nashville. It's also killing Giles football revenue because Pearl, Republic, Whites Creek, East, and Stratford travel poorly. We drove to Nashville 5 times this year during regular season and playoffs. It's too far away and makes no sense from a rivalry standpoint. TSSAA has pretty much killed longstanding rivalry games with the constant realignment of the regions. Giles is on the Alabama state line and playing in a Nashville Region, which makes no sense.

  33. Really depends on the school system. Dyersburg and Dyer County pay at least $10,000 for the head coaching supplement in Football and Basketball. Crockett County pays well also. Shelby County Schools, Bartlett, Germantown, Colleirville, and Arlington pay higher teacher salaries that most places in the state but SCS pays a terrible coaching supplement. It is very hard for small school districts to justify paying coaches alot of money unless it's raised and paid by boosters. The state has really cracked down on tracking every penny to make sure it is used for educational purposes to benefit all students.

  34. FB26, Maplewood is in Reg 4 and Springfield is in Reg 5. Regions 1-4 are east and Regions 5-8 are west. Most schools in regions 1-4 are east of I-65(Maplewood)and most schools in regions 5-8 are west of I-65(Springfield). However, there are a few schools that this I-65 rule dont apply to (White House and portland are the ones close to me that I know of) but they are within a couple miles of the interstate and the majority of region 5 is west of I-65, same as most of region 4 is east of I-65.

  35. LOL your weird bro. Don't let #21, #9 or #5 slip out, you will see pure raw spreed. But your right idk how we are here for the 2nd time in 3 years, or how we had our 5th quarter finals appearance in a row this year. I really really don't know. You've been on ever thread this playoffs shut up and let the 2 fan bases talk and enjoy this week, we've EARNED it. EHS is a great program & Springfield is a great 107 year old program and Saturday will be a great game.

  36. This next reclassification could shake things up a little with all the new schools popping up in the Nashville area. Nolensville will probably be in 5 or 6A. We lost page out of the 4A class due to enrollment and now Nolensville will be moving up. I wonder what team will be coming to region 4 4A? I suspect Giles County may be moving back up and will be back in region 4.

  40. Funny that you replied, as Bellsburg2 and yourself are the two USJ supporters on the planet that the jab was not directed toward at all. Both of you add football knowledge, insight, and credible opinions of the program whenever (if infrequently) you post. In recent years, it seems that it has become standard procedure to degrade teams/fans/posters, and even kids from opposing teams on here, and I don't agree with that philosophy at all... having said that, I did lean pretty heavily on the USJ posters, and painted with a broad brush to illicit some response to get this topic going again before the game. While I agree that what is posted here has no bearing in the real world, I also believe that the USJ "community" should be excited to the point of entering into some conversation with those interested enough to view this topic, and add their insights and opinions. In response to one particular question... yes, I'll credit the boosters and administration for taking a chance on Michael Stroup. For a program of USJ's prestige, it was a stretch to hire a first time head coach with a short (if successful) resume', and was against conventional thought. Coach impressed those in position to have that input with his treatment of kids and demeanor while coaching the WT All Star team, as much as did his record and coaching ability while at Scotts Hill, and to me, that speaks volumes about what USJ wants for their kids. Please have the butler reading this to you to instruct your driver to be particularly cautious while transporting your family and yourself to the game tomorrow... it should be a day of celebration, may all enjoy safe travels to and from, and prayers that all involved finish the game standing.

  43. Central has been the undersized team in the trenches in all but 1 or 2 games as well so I understand what you're saying. The defensive line utilizes their quickness and athleticism by slanting and moving gaps post snap most of the game. I think Summit is gonna have a lot of trouble trying to run the ball against this stingy Bobcats D. I would hate to be an offensive coordinator facing that defense right now.

  44. To pretend that the USJ program isn't supported because people aren't on CoachT arguing about petty nonsense and decades old grudges is ridiculous. Funny how the boosters (i.e. USJ supporters!) were getting blamed on here for meddling when the team was losing....Do the boosters get credit now?? I enjoy the banter as much as anyone, but let's be honest: message boards are a dying technology. It's just a few of us talking back and forth to ourselves. Who cares. Anyway. Can't wait to watch this one. DA humbled USJ the first time around. Their formula is to try to repeat that, control the line of scrimmage, pound the rock and run the clock. I think USJ will be prepared for the level of physicality this time. They have the size up front, and the the front seven on D was very fast and physical against NCS. Weather looks good for tomorrow. On a turf field, USJ's speed and playmaking should be too much. I look for USJ to win this one going away and bring their first gold ball back to Jackson! Either way, getting to play for a gold ball is a special day for these young men on both sides. Something they'll look back on for the rest of their lives.
