  1. I hope you have seen them play before making this statement. That’s pretty disrespectful to the players and to the college coaches. If you want to continue to play basketball after high school, I can assure you that it means ALOT to those players. Most of those players had offers to multiple schools. You can talk about the college teams if you want but you shouldn’t discredit the accomplishments of these players or any player that gets a chance to do something they love at the next level. It isn’t as easy as you make it sound. And there will be many players that never get that chance.

  6. I agree. Never know. I just hope and pray for all girls to stay healthy and be at full strength moving forward. That has been a big challenge for us since state last year. Clarkrange and Pickett County have had solid years though from just looking at schedules. I agree basketball is a crazy game. An underdog hits two or three threes, favorites misses a few and best player gets a couple of fouls and it’s a dogfight. Other than Greenfield, I expect every game to be wide open and most games very likely to go to the wire in West TN.

  10. Agree! Maybe the best matchup of the entire TSSAA tournament...will be a brawl! In my unsolicited opinion...going with Harper in this one.

  12. #1 Harper vs. #2 Petersen at 195 is a toss-up and will be a great finals match. Harper won the in season matchup 4-3. Both are HS All-Americans and highly regarded nationally.

  13. Not to overstate the obvious, but over the last 4 years every 8AA TEAM has lost all of their players. Some schools are hurt because it is harder to find players in some counties more than others. Most UC counties have a population less than 25K except Putnam. I actually find it hard to believe any could consistently compete with UHS unless CHS builds a program. Macon, SMith,Cannon, Dekalb, Fentress, Overton, all have a population of less than 25K. 3 of them have 2 public high schools That need players. At 80K in Putnam and 3 schools the numbers can be overwhelming. H2O is in a big county but serves 4 now 5 publics. It won't explain away feeder systems, community importance, and tradition, but simple math plays a part. Oh yeah, and coaching stability and ability is vital to ATTRACT players from an even larger population area. That happens from time to time in UC basketball.

  14. Shot clock in high school is ridiculous. Patience on offense often levels the playing field for teams with less talent. It creates strategic adjustments for the more talented team and shows great discipline for the team slowing it down. The team with more talent has the choice to pressure their opponent or sit back and let them be patient. Coaches have to coach more at high school level without a shot clock than they would with one. Shot clock would only lead to a ton of bad shots and more blow outs. The game is for the kids, not us people watching.

  15. Don’t work like that. They did that last year in the region tournament and gave them both MVP. I have never seen that happen in a tournament. I will make it easy for you. If there was one girl on Greenfield’s team that GC could pick to not play against them it would be Chloe by a long shot. She is the oil that makes that team run and is the best player maybe in the state. Tess is a great player but Chloe is Miss Basketball. IMO.
