  1. I'm going to say "hold your horses" real quick. I looked at their schedule off Max-preps and they got plummeted a few times. There closest margin of defeat was by 15, and they were beat by 30+ a few times. I would say they will probably win 2 or 3 times, but the point separation is so dramatic where if Heritage (Hookfin's team) improves and the opponents don't improve, the opponents will still have enough talent to win. A lot of times, Hookfin won games at Liberty and Haywood based on talent. Arguably one of the reasons why he didn't win the "big game."

  2. Went to the Greenfield vs Gibson County region championship game and I completely agreed with everything that happened except the co-mvp’s. Just because two good players are on the same team, doesn’t mean that you should have to spare one of their feelings for an award. It’s crazy how a D1 prospect can influence the opinions of basketball fans and coaches. A D1 scholarship doesn’t make you a good player. It’s almost one of the saddest things when a player can get overlooked by a scholarship, when she is clearly the better player. There should be no comparison between the two. Sparing a players feelings doesn’t make them better, it makes them soft. Greenfield wouldn’t be Greenfield without Chloe.

  3. Madison is not only one of the best players in the state, but one of the best in the country... and a phenomenal kid on top of that... She was Miss Basketball last year and will be again this year.

  4. Coach T is a marginal coach at best. Lost the Loretto game last year in semi finals trying to change his defense. Let the girls play their game and no body is within 15 of this team. If Greenfield loses it won’t be because of the girls.

  5. I also don’t agree with co-mvps. You can’t tell me the vote of the coaches was exactly tied. Also, I believe people’s definition of a mvp is different from mine. I think of if you took that mvp off the team, could you still roll? Greenfield would not still roll without Chloe. Nothing against Tess, but she simply does not have the ability to take over and control a game like Chloe. Chloe is one of the most poised players I have ever seen play

  6. Me and you are on the same page. Both kids are phenomenal players in their own ways. They both compliment each other. This thread here went overboard is what it did. I don’t agree with co-mvp’s at all, but use some common sense when you post.

  7. People discount the importance of Tess Darby far too much. She is a dead-eye 3pt shooter, our lone post presence, our best rebounder, and our best post defender by far. Also, she is the anchor on the back end of our press. Even if you break the press, she is probably going to block your shot, steal the ball, or force you to back off the fast break. She has a different role from Chloe, but that doesn't make her any less valuable. Chloe's role on the team is just far more visible when watching the game because of her play making ability for others and herself, along with her ability to take over games with her elite athletic ability. I do agree that co-MVP's are not my favorite and Chloe probably should win the award, but people act like Tess is a scrub sometimes and it's simply not true.

  8. Real nice 1'st post on the boards... not. Bet the farm it's just a troll with another account that didn't want the heat under their username. Probably just trying to get a response or cause some terrific kids some grief... what a LOSER!

  9. After watching Greenfield & Gibson County (again) tonight, if I had a vote for 1A Ms. Basketball...it'd be Chloe Moore. I don't know how many assists she had tonight, on top of her leading all scoring category, but she makes everyone on her team better.

  10. Is this the scholarship players fault because they were named co-MVP? It’s easy for you to hide behind your screen name, but let’s hear what your name is since you have the audacity to come on here and shame a kid publicly. I agree co-MVP’s are a joke, but for you to come on here and post what you have is a joke also.

  11. Both are great players and I believe are great people, but Chloe Moore is a flat out baller. If I had a vote for 1A Ms. Basketball, I'd vote for Chloe. Darby is a great player and I'm not disrespecting her, but Chloe makes everyone better on that floor and with her passing/dishing the ball tonight....she makes a lot of average players look very good.

  13. Congrats to the Bradley Bears. One of the final 16 teams left in the State. Playing Cleveland will be like trying to juggle a buzzsaw, but let’s enjoy this win for tonight.

  14. Westview is able to run and gun when needed. Yancey, Callins, and Harrison have the stamina to run with any of them and can last an entire game as long as they don’t get in foul trouble. It didn’t surprise me last night because I know they can do it but coach would rather not due to shallow bench

  17. Tunderwood !! Elite defense !!! It’s only elite when you hold top teams way below their average . Also by turning them over getting them out of their comfort zone . You do have saylor which alters a lot of shots ., your offensive style contributes a lot to holding teams in the 40’s and 50’s . Now if you can hold East to 40 or 50 then maybe I will give you elite defense . My best example is va. In college . Duke avg 81 a game . Va held them to 50 . Not sure what East avg . Doubt it’s 80 but probably close to 70 I would say . I might have to come check it out because you might have just sold me on it . I always liked saylor always improved year to year first year I haven’t seen him play

  18. Madison Hayes is legit and a very deserving candidate. One incredible player does not a whole team make, and last I checked, basketball is a team effort. It doesn’t mean she is any less impressive at what she does when her team loses.

  19. You know what bleedblackandgold you sit there behind your screen name and take shots at kids. This post is obviously taking a shot at Madison Hayes, who everyone knows is one of the best players in the state if not the best. Not everything revolves around your beloved Bradley Bearettes. You see I have a good relationship with Coach Reuter and have a lot of respect for him, however it is people like you that make it where people don’t like Bradley. You do nothing on here but talk bad about other coaches and other players that aren’t on Bradley. You wanna talk about me or my team, go ahead. But when you start talking about my players then I have to get on here on say something. I would be glad to sit down and have a conversation with you about this if you would like, but everyone on here knows that you will only be known as bleedblackandgold and keep your identity hidden.

  23. Trying hard to understand the fascination with Coach Hookfin. Specifically the negativity by patriotnation and reddyrebel?? By all accounts a good coach, that always left programs in better shape than he found them. Left for a chance to go back home and make more money, There must be a bigger issue??

  24. Arkansas football is not anywhere in the stratosphere of Tennessee football. I am very familiar with both, having covered both for many years. Haywood and any good football team would pound many 6A and 7A Arkansas teams. Pulaski Academy is nationally ranked every year and was manhandled by Ravenwood. The athletes in Arkansas he has now can't match up with the talent in Tennessee - period.

  27. Tell me how many of those there was because I would bet you they didn't split it because of what you are saying! So to back that up please bring out the facts because again that's not at all what I heard from some coaches on the reason for the split for all college divisions and I can go back and look up all the champs and it's littered with wrestlers from Oklahoma, Okie State, Iowa and what not and it has grown exceedingly even more the past few years. I mean if you think UTC can recruit even close to the same caliber wrestler that Penn State or Iowa or Ohio State can I am not sure that you are all there. There's a much bigger difference between the private schools compared to big and large school. One which can actually house their students, pay their coaching staffs handsomely (or why do you think Yost jumps from Cleveland to McCallie?) they have as much room in some of their athletic centers compared to some schools have in their entire building(I trained in the SAC so I promise I understand what it means to a kid walking into that beautiful building compared to walking into the Soddy Daisy wrestling arena which is probably older than you are.) oh and also let me know how many wrestlers the kids club for both McCallie and Baylor have in them because I have seen you as well as a lot of supposedly knowledgeable people on here State that youth wrestling is the lifeblood for a school to be competitive and in my 25 plus years in wrestling in TN as well as North Georgia I haven't seen a ton of youth kids developed through a youth program for one of those private schools. Now I do with Father Ryan and to a point now CBHS, but seems like to me Baylor and McCallie wait until the kids are developed and go out and pick them up when the hard work for years has been put through.

  28. Perhaps Coach Hookfin has offended patriotsnation in some form or fashion that none of us are aware of?? But 0-20 appears to be wishful thinking on patriotsnations' behalf. Hoofkins first three years at Liberty 2-8, 7-4, 12-2. First three years at Haywood 6-5, 10-2, 11-3. If i were a betting man I would put my money on Hookfin.

  29. I am dating myself but back not to long ago the NAIA, NCAA D2 & NCAA D3 divisions had individuals that participated in the NCAA D1 Tournament. It was discontinued due to the fact that several D2 & NAIA wrestlers won national championships and made the D1 coaches & schools look bad. Just like anything in life you can run, duck, dodge and juke but you cannot escape the fact that iron sharpens iron. The question has been ask many times before why there needs to be multiple state champions crowned in an INDIVIDUAL SPORT? What happens when the D1 kids and the D2 kids have to compete for both jobs and college acceptance against one another? Don't say that it is different because it is the exact same thing. Look I know that the rules will never be changed back because we are now a soft society that avoids competing against each other. I am of the generation that at 8 years old you had to "TRYOUT" for the local Little League baseball team. There were kids every year that were cut because they were not deemed to be good enough to play Little League baseball. Yes, the coaches tried to teach fundamentals but they also wanted to WIN and that's not a bad thing. The problem with that is that at some point everyone is told they are not good enough for whatever reason and as educators & parents we must prepare kids for the fact there is always someone better. By having divisions all we have done is water down the competition for everyone and we are not teaching those valuable lessons.

  31. The press in the third and the forth quarter just changed momentum and they couldn’t get into a good rhythm at all. I am as shellshocked this morning as they are. I stood beside them on the floor and they looked like a junior college team. I honestly thought Huntingdon was going to get blowed out in the middle of the third quarter. Got to give Wilkins credit for throwing the all out pressure at them. 22 for them probably didn’t have many points but she was the MVP of the game. Without her they lose the game. She was all over the floor on defense and no telling how many steals and TO’s she created. But we have lost games this year like that so I know where they are coming from. They are a great team and have a great program as does Loretto.

  33. Probably going to be a Miss Basketball finalist before her Senior year. She has all the tools... beat the South Side press without a problem, awesome form on her shot, and an assist machine with penetration, draw, and dish. #15 is underrated too... steady.

  34. Coach McNeal did a great job considering the loss of Sharnecce earlier this season to go along with losing Q, Transou, and others off of last year’s squad. I know losing sucks, but that was a pretty good job of coaching them up.

  35. Second time I’ve seen Harrison play she’s impressive especially for a freshman. They got a good basketball team. Props to SS as well they played hard as usual. They’ll be the team everybody is chasing in 14AA next year.

  44. Pretty much everybody in 3-5A has gotten hit hard by graduation. Obiously the guys at Powell mentioned will have to be replaced, but West has to replace a huge part of the defense in those two guys who are signing D1-A LOIs next week. Nobody is exempt from losing key players to graduation. That said, there's no shortage of talent with those programs. They'll be fine. The top 4 all have solid feeder programs. The cupboards aren't bare.

  45. Trusley is the big loss, and Powell's success will heavily depend on the ability of Jordyn Potts to step in and be a solid replacement at QB. He played a lot of mop-up duty as a freshman last year, so he's seen a lot of varsity snaps, but the stakes will certainly be different next season.

  46. R3 isn’t really wide open. It will be Bradley (99%) & Stone Memorial (95%). Of course we also have Miss Basketball, so East Hamilton can be a spoiler if Madison Hayes supporting cast steps up (but I don’t see it).
