  1. They are both great players and would be a different team without either of the two. But I’ll take it a step further as great as those two are they couldn’t win a game without 3 more out there with them. It is still a team sport with role players and bench players who can step up when needed. i bet You Chloe And Tess would tell you if ask how important teamwork is. That being said I believe ether deserve any award they get. But I bet you that gold ball is the end goal.

  2. I agree completely!!! Just about any coach worth his salt could have taken over a team that has traditionally finished behind multiple area schools with the traditions and history of Bradford, Gleason, Gibson County, Union City, Lake County, ect… (and all their gold balls), and changed the culture to the tune of a state title, undefeated season, multiple Miss Basketball nominee's, DI signee's... well, you get the picture. Add to that, He should have to wear a dunce cap and sit in the corner for losing to that awful team with that Weathers girl (who everyone knows isn't going to amount to much) in the tournament last year! If he doesn't get some advice soon, or a decent assistant coach, he could even wind up losing fifteen or twenty games before he retires if he isn't careful. Nice first post!!! SMH...

  3. Huntington had gotten away with multiple fouls that haven’t been called and have gotten away with traveling at least 6 times. Officials had been so inconsistent.

  4. You speak a lot about being around to see all things TN wrestling, but somehow don’t recall the Red Raider wrestling club winning the kids state consistently during Mike Sutherland’s time? At the same time you fail to acknowledge the talent that trained in that room. The last time I heard someone ask Mike how many highschool state champs came out of the club he replied “I’m not sure.” That’s how many there have been. The thing about kids clubs at Baylor and McCallie is that they actually help the rest of the schools in Chattanooga as much if not more than they do their own programs. Wanna know why? Because Baylor and Mccallie ,News Flash, don’t have elementary schools and not every kid in those clubs goes on to attend the respective school due to several reasons. The reason Baylor and Mccallie dominate Chattanooga wrestling is because their administration prioritizes the sport. There was a time when the administration at Soddy cared about wrestling and combining that with years of hard work by some great coaches, they were able to compete just as Cleveland and Bradley have been able to. If you wanna be great, build a continuous culture over decades and reap the benefits. So cry all you want about private this, advantage that. No one really cares, work harder.

  5. Good win got Loretto!! Wasn’t there but Huntingdon is a good team and should make state as well as Loretto. Loretto matches up with Greenfield really well with Weathers handling the ball. I also think other teams match up with Loretto better than Greenfield.

  10. Best wishes to Stone Memorial at Blackmon. Hope to see you again in the Boro, because I think that would mean both teams would be in the finals.

  11. One can think! Heck I thought that last game tho Depends on the mindset we come out with. If we were playing the Memphis Mitchell teams of the past, I could see being a bit deer eyed....but not in this matchup

  16. Sam reminds me of the LSU QB when he runs the ball. It can be 3rd down 7 yards to go and he'll get you a 1st down by another 7 yards.

  18. Hahahah oh Durden That’s EXACTLY was recruiting is. Nothing wrong with it. It’s with in their rules. But ONLY 3 kids ever wrestled in thier kids club... hartline Duffy and chambers( possibly radpour, never heard of him though) Harper....Chattanooga...haha get out of here. Just bc his parents moved doesn’t mean he wasn’t recruited. Alvarez is from Dalton Georgia Dendy is from Lafayette Georgia Bond is from Chattooga Georgia And when you say Gunner showed up for academics shows your ignorance. They put Dendy’s dad on staff bc he would recruit these kids for them. It’s OK, you guys are allowed to recruit. It’s all with in the rules, just don’t try and make it sound like they are developing talent. Makes you look stupid.

  21. It was good seeing big Oak Ridge fan @SweetScience last night in Maryville. He is definitely a chip off the old block. Daddy Science is an as big or even bigger OR fan. Ole Sweets needs to get an "OR" logo hat for basketball. His hat had that old OR football logo on it. Shout out to @rebelwoman87 for the saved seats.

  22. Hookfin brought mental toughness back to haywood and it showed on the field. Hookfin left to go back home, and make more money. And HOOKFIN is extremely competitive he knew exactly what he was getting into. Also take into the fact he had to hire an entirely new coaching staff. This year and Hookfin first season at liberty are his only two losing seasons. He has made it to the dance, give him credit. At liberty kids were leaving NS and south Side and jcm to play for him. And no one wanted to play them period lol. When it comes down to it Hookfin has beat HC twice smith has 3 times Hookfin has been to the semis 4 times smith has once... Hookfins been to the title game once coach smith hasn’t. Coach smith’s a great coach he’s still gettin his feet wet though

  26. Yeah Jeff Co wasn’t that good this year. Neither is Science Hill. I will be very surprised if Maryville and Bearden don’t make it.

  27. Region Championship will be played at Bradley Central at 7:00 Eastern on Thursday. Kudos to White County for allowing this to happen. Probably will be several hundred more people at the game vs if it was in Sparta. Prayers still to the Cookeville area. Life is precious.

  28. I find it fairly easy to pull for Cland. They are a county school who plays with the hand they were dealt. Unlike the orange and black monster who takes other people's best players. People would be surprised how average they would be with just t.a. Dugger kids

  29. He was okay, few points off the drive but outside of that, he didn't do much. I expected more, I went over to watch that game instead of watching the Triple A games because I really wanted to see Bolivar guards. They were huffing and puffing and blowing the house down, super tired after a quarter.

  32. Fillies looking forward to playing a great team like Loretto. Should be a fast paced exciting game. Huntingdon is quick and plays great defense, #22 has made a big difference in our team since she arrived at Christmas. Be interesting to watch if she guards Weathers. I'm also impressed with #10 of the Lady Mustangs she's a very good player. Fillies going to have to play their best game to keep it close and if you can keep it close you got a shot. Go Fillies

  33. A great night of basketball in Lexington. First game was very close. South Gibson did not impress at all. North Side had a chance to win the game. The official who called the technical foul decided the game in that moment. The rest of the game North Side got most of the close calls and that kept the game close at times. The officiating was not good. North side is not very skilled in ball handling and shooting. They are very athletic. South Gibson did not make shots, missed a lot of free throws. With that being said it was a very entertaining game but not great basketball. Second game is a completely different story. The best game I have watched all year. Hats off to Dyersburg. They competed at a high level. South Side just has more players than Dyersburg. the bench was the difference in the game. When South Side went to the bench there really wasn't much of a drop off and when Dyersburg went to the bench the athletes just didn't match up. There were dunks, volley ball line threes, step back threes, pressure defense, etc... This game had it all. South Side is about 10 points better and won by that much. I don't see South Gibson coming close to South Side. I think South Side wins by a bunch. I am glad I made the trip to Lexington. Side Note: the atmosphere was great and Lexington did a good job hosting.

  34. I will say this. Both are great players and deserve every honor each of them get. A great PG will trump others in determining individual awards as a rule because they have the added pressure of handling the ball, IMO. Chloe Moore deserves Miss Basketball and she is the one that makes that engine roll. Give me one player I can take off that team to add to mine and it is her. Great PG’s who play with that kind of poise are hard to find. But it is what it is. Tess is a great player as well as Edie and the others are important too.

  35. McKenize just got out played last night. All there was to it. Had nothing to do with the officiating. I thought they called a pretty good ballgame. I didn't think the double foul on the two boys getting up was warranted. I just think they were trying to get up off the floor and they got tangled. Anyway, good trip down there and good luck the rest of the way. I wish we could have said Hi to each other.

  36. First time getting to see Greenfield and was very impressed. Obviously knew they were going to be talented, but was surprised at how well rounded they were. With respect to holding the ball, I viewed that as more of a courtesy to both teams. I know GC's fans didn't like it, but in reality it did them a favor. Mid-3rd quarter they were gassed and unable to do much offensively. If Greenfield kept their foot on the gas, I think the score would have been ugly. The way I saw it, the result was determined and both teams were resigned to that fact. Try and finish it out without injuries with a trip to state on the line next game for both teams.

  37. mike had a huge club at Baylor, but you could prob count on one hand how many kids actually ended up going to Baylor.......so that has NOTHING to do with Baylor’s success, but more to do with other programs getting petty good kids.

  38. Yea it is a must win game! You definitely don’t wanna go into Wooddale(ask Bolivar)! We will probably play Covington

  39. Keep in mind @Pinkpanther Jacobi is still about 80% healthy recovering from a severely sprained ankle in the last game of the season. He doesn't have anywhere near his normal explosiveness or lift right now. Defensively he is also very limited with this injury. You witnessed a shell of Jacobi.

  40. I don’t think the problem is his winning. It’s the reasoning behind his dismissal at Shelbyville. That’s just A LOT of baggage to be quite honest. I don’t think the Whitwell admin will hire him. It’s not everyday an 11-2 coach is fired.

  41. People discount the importance of Tess Darby far too much. She is a dead-eye 3pt shooter, our lone post presence, our best rebounder, and our best post defender by far. Also, she is the anchor on the back end of our press. Even if you break the press, she is probably going to block your shot, steal the ball, or force you to back off the fast break. She has a different role from Chloe, but that doesn't make her any less valuable. Chloe's role on the team is just far more visible when watching the game because of her play making ability for others and herself, along with her ability to take over games with her elite athletic ability. I do agree that co-MVP's are not my favorite and Chloe probably should win the award, but people act like Tess is a scrub sometimes and it's simply not true.

  42. Real nice 1'st post on the boards... not. Bet the farm it's just a troll with another account that didn't want the heat under their username. Probably just trying to get a response or cause some terrific kids some grief... what a LOSER!

  43. After watching Greenfield & Gibson County (again) tonight, if I had a vote for 1A Ms. Basketball...it'd be Chloe Moore. I don't know how many assists she had tonight, on top of her leading all scoring category, but she makes everyone on her team better.

  45. I don't know what exactly happened with tate. Alot of folks didn't seem to like him because of the way he talked to and treated the players. I always thought he did a pretty good job with the talent he had and felt he would eventually get things turned around. Then the hazing incident happened and that was the end of tate. Im pretty sure they were really concerned about the lack of supervision and discipline within the program to.

  46. Trying hard to understand the fascination with Coach Hookfin. Specifically the negativity by patriotnation and reddyrebel?? By all accounts a good coach, that always left programs in better shape than he found them. Left for a chance to go back home and make more money, There must be a bigger issue??

  48. Perhaps Coach Hookfin has offended patriotsnation in some form or fashion that none of us are aware of?? But 0-20 appears to be wishful thinking on patriotsnations' behalf. Hoofkins first three years at Liberty 2-8, 7-4, 12-2. First three years at Haywood 6-5, 10-2, 11-3. If i were a betting man I would put my money on Hookfin.

  50. I was Rick’s OL Coach at the Raiders for quite sometime. The man knows how to win. We won a lot of games; often with less talent. Rick was always incredibly well prepared, highly organized, and an excellent tactician. More importantly, he was a great motivator and loved his players like he did his sons. I loved coaching for him. He let his assistants coach and kept the parents out of the huddle. Rick invested so much of his time and money to make an impact on the community that many can only dream of. The fact he has retired makes me very sad. Hopefully he will return to youth football and continue to make young men out of boys. Fantastic job Rick! I treasure our time on the field together!
